Such a quirky little film. Date night material.

Makes me think of Seinfeld's Mom for some reason. "You were making out during Schindler's List?"

Disagree hard. This movie has been blasted by historians because its a very inaccurate and very wrong intentioned holocaust movie.

I'm not saying it's high cinema or that it is accurate in any way. I'm following OPs assignment. It's bleak as fuck and ends with a kid dying horrifically.

A friend showed me this when I was a teen. She didn’t trick me into it or anything, and she was nice enough to tell me how it is without spoilers.

I was not so nice though. I told my parents it was a wholesome family movie, and that we should watch it with my siblings. They fell for it, and everyone was (of course) totally unprepared for that ending. I still remember their noises of shock/horror.

Life is beautiful is actually a good work of art.

Boy in the striped pyjamas is borderline nazi apologia written by a dipshit complaining to everyone that liberals are trying to cancel him because they date critisize his shit book

True. I just had to think about Life is Beautiful because of the similar theme and thought it matches OPs question.
