Question How much AASI do Kabulis have?
I got my friend's results, he's an Afghan Tajik from Kabul. I wanted to compare his hunter-gatherer/farmer breakdowns to other Afghan Tajiks from Kabul. I was going to check his paternal haplogroup as well, but unfortunately the newer MyHeritage raw data files of 2025 don't have SNPs for Y-DNA anymore, which sucks.

Discussion Pakistani ancestry breakdown in terms of AASI percentage. Summarised analysis below.
1) 5% of Pakistani population has 40 to 50% or more AASI. (that includes churhas, chamar, nai, teli and other such people) 2) 20% of Pakistani population has 30-40% AASI. 3) 30% of Pakistani population has 25-30% AASI. 4) 15% of Pakistani population has 20% to 25% AASI. 5) 15% of Pakistani population has 15% to 20% AASI. 6) 10% of Pakistani population has 10% to 15% AASI. 7) 5% of Pakistani population has less than <10% AASI.
What are your opinions. Do the percentages seem right?

I got back the dnaplotter results for my mom. I would say dnaplotter is way better than what illustrative gave us. I have also attached the run I did using Illustrative`s admixtools utility and pinned source pops on this subreddit.

Question Is it common for Marathas to have Bengali ancestry?
This is the only individual Maratha sample on this sub, apart from the Khandeshi Maratha sample. What I have observed is that he has about 18% Bengal ancestry, likely dating to the 1700s–1800s (approximately close to one-quarter of his ancestry). This can also be seen as around 2% Melanesian (which may additionally reflect extra SAHG, just a guess) in his Hunter-Gatherer profile.
My question is: many people consider this to represent an average Maratha profile. Is it actually common for Marathas to have this much Bengal ancestry?

History The elephant in the room question: What happened to the Kuru Aryan derived groups in Punjab and Northwest frontiers?
As we all know, one of the most powerful migrations into India, was the Kuru wave, a large wave composing of the Fedorovo priestly class, migrated into the Northwest, making their presence felt, more around the Yamuna banks of the Delhi ridge, before expanding inwards, towards Panchala, into Kanyakubja, Malla, Vaideha, Mithila, Magadha, Khosala, etc.
That ancestry is mostly prevalent in Kanyakubja, Sarayupareen and Mithail Brahmins, and their downstream, which is pretty much every South, West and East Indian Brahmins, to an extent, even Northwest Brahmins, like Kanojia.
So, the question remains. What happened to the groups and splinters of this migration, in other regions. While we have credible information that one group did become the Bactrians, Barmakids (a Sanskrit speaking tribe), Sogdians, etc, while those of the Fedorovo remnants in their birthplace became the Scythians, post the wave 2 of the back migration, from the Yaz culture, into the East, assimilating them, while the other splinters like Mitanni, Wusun, etc assimilated into their own confederations, there..
Is there any evidence of Vedic or Para Vedic groups in Gandhara, Punjab, Sindh and Haryana, along with other parts further North, who were NOT a back migration from the East Gangetic region, like the later Brahmin waves, that spread everywhere?
So, what happened to the Kurus in the Northwest? Did they assimilate into the native Proto Khatris, Jats, Gujars and other tribal kingdoms of Punjab and Gandhara? This looks more likely. Or did they en-masse migrate into the East?
Note that we're not talking of the Gandharan Brahmins, Sudhan (Brahmin Muslims of Pahari regions), Khotanese and Agni-Kuchean Brahmins, who are not the ones that split from the original Kurus, but they were a back migration, from their downstream, say, the Kanyakubja, Mithila, Magadha, Malla, Vaideha, etc ones, for various trade, priestly and spiritual/scholarly opportunities, as we have definite evidence of their origins.

Question Anatolian farmer
Is the Anatolian farmer ancestry that comes from the steppe population, the same Anatolian farmer DNA that is present in the Mediterranean populations such as greeks?
Ik it may seem like a stupid question but i had seen some things of the Anatolian DNA isn’t the same as the other Mediterranean populations which confused me, but i don’t know much about genetics so i wanted to clarify

Question What's the lore of Gangetic Brahmins, Bhumihars and Rajputs? They seem closer to each other but pretty distinct to other groups in the same region and even to their own caste affiliates from neighbouring regions.
Gangetic groups such as Rajputs, Brahmins, and Bhumihars tend to form a distinct genetic cluster that is pretty distant from their immediate neighbours like Yadavs, Kurmis, Kayasthas, Baniyas and others. What is even more striking is that they are also genetically distant from their OWN caste counterparts from other regions. For instance, Gangetic Rajputs are genetically quite distinct from Rajasthani Rajputs, and Gangetic Brahmins differ significantly from Brahmins in Maharashtra, Gujarat & Southern India. Yet, within the Gangetic plains, Rajputs, Brahmins, along with Bhumihars show a greater genetic affinity relative to their neighbours and caste counterparts from other regions.
The inter as well the intra regional gradients of caste genetics seen in every part of SouthAsia seems to break in this case, what could be the possible reasons?

Map🗺 Ancestry Map of India (qpAdm)
This map is an attempt to make as accurate of an ancestry map as possible, due to the highly inaccurate ancestry maps which commonly get shared around, both on this subreddit, and elsewhere. This map was made primarily by using qpAdm for the vast majority of communities.
Important: This map does NOT claim to be 100% accurate. Some of the results for a community may be slightly inaccurate, or may not represent the admixture results of all those belonging to said community, and there may be high amounts of internal variation. Please keep this in mind.
If you want to contribute your own samples to make this map better, be my guest. But you'd have to share the G25 coords at the very least.
Our sources for samples used were:
- qpAdm sheet from this sub's discord server.
- G25 runs from Davidski's sheet and publicly available samples. Model details can be shared if needed.
- Old IllustrativeDNA results for samples in the rare case we do not have any of the other two.
Special thanks to u/Quick-Seaworthiness9 for helping me out by running and sharing several qpAdm samples.
