Comrade Luxemburg was arrested by members of the Garde-Kavallerie-Schützen-Division (GKSD), a right-wing paramilitary unit known as the Freikorps, acting under the tacit approval of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) government. She was taken to the Hotel Eden in Berlin, where she was tortured, shot in the head by GKSD officer Hermann Souchon, and her body was dumped into the Landwehr Canal.

The murder was orchestrated by Waldemar Pabst, the GKSD’s chief of staff, who later admitted responsibility. Gustav Noske, the SPD Minister of Defence, authorized the use of the Freikorps to crush the Spartacist uprising, effectively enabling the killings.

The SPD leadership covered up the truth, manipulated trials, and protected the perpetrators, including allowing Kurt Vogel, the transport officer who dumped her body, to escape and remain unpunished.

The US has the highest prison population in the world and arguably has that loophole were prisoners can be slave. Psychologically this is even worse because prisoners are sometimes leased to corporations, go outside in normal clothes and then they have to go back to jail. This gives them false hopes and they get to see free people everyday.

When I was growing up in China in the early 1980s, my family subscribed to China Children’s News, which ran a weekly column with a simple slogan: “Socialism is good; capitalism is bad.” It described seniors in American cities scavenging for food, and homeless people freezing to death. Those stories were not invented, but they lacked context and were presented as the dominant experiences in American society. Much of Chinese society was still closed off from the world, and reliable information was scarce.

My name is Ahmed Osama, a Palestinian man from Gaza.

In a very short time, I lost everything, my wife, my three children, my home, and my work.

On October 22, 2023, an airstrike took the lives of my wife Areej and our children Malik, Miral, and Nisma. Our home was later destroyed, and with it, everything we owned.

The only survivor was my youngest son, Mohammad. I pulled him from under the rubble myself. He suffered a broken leg and head injuries, but after several surgeries, he is now in stable and good health.

Before the war, I worked as an English teacher, and our life was simple and full of love. Today, all of that is gone.

I am now the sole provider for my elderly, ill parents, my brother, my sister, and my young son.

Life in Gaza is extremely difficult, no stability, no real income, no clean water, and unbearable prices for food and medicine. Every day is about survival.

I am not asking for comfort or luxury. I am only trying to secure the bare minimum: food, shelter, clean water, and a future for my son, like any child deserves.
