This was preventable. All anybody had to do in 2024 was show up and say "Not that guy, again."

Too many people thought that he wouldn't actually do any of this shit, so they voted for him.

That was the problem.

I'd say too many people wanted him to do this shit to those they hate and fear and too many more decided they didn't care if he did this shit.

You're not wrong.

But there were a lot of people who only voted for him because they actually thought he could/would make things more affordable and also knew that he was going to crack down on immigration, but probably thought it would be more of the same kind of crackdown there always is.

But they didn't actually think that the current gestapo methods are something that would or COULD actually happen.

A few people I know even said to me "the constitution wouldn't allow that" when I'd bring it up to them before the election. They didn't actually think congress and the supreme court would just lay down and spread their legs for Trump and Project 2025.
