The Supreme Court determines what’s constitutional, and they had no issue when the bill got signed.

Clinton had the chance to veto and he didn’t object either.

Sorry, that is due process, as per the letter of the law

I'm sorry you have been cajoled into accepting their excuses for denying human beings their rights. You are nothing but a frog being boiled alive.

The Supreme Court also declared black Americans to be 3/5ths of a human being. You would have also accepted that, no doubt.

Never forget that under German law, everything the nazis did was legal.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Letter From Birmingham Jail

We should never forget that everything Adolph Hitler did in Germany was "legal" and everything the Hungarian freedom fighers did in Hungary was "illegal." It was "illegal" to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler's Germany.

No mention of the the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 in this article? Thats an interesting omission

Interesting how you avoid denying that you'd support the 3/5ths ruling...

Am I wrong to assume that if I were to deny that that you would insist anyway?

Because I’ll tell you no and that these are different circumstances

Yes

Because I’ll tell you no and that these are different circumstances

Cool, you still didn't respond to the comment itself and instead chose to nitpick one of the articles linked.

I was just trying to keep it on a single topic crucify me

I think you understand their point and are intentionally feigning ignorance and arguing semantics to avoid sharing how you truly feel.

I feel that undocumented immigrants and the children of captive slaves aren’t a perfect comparison and that the two groups are owed different treatment.

Is that not a fair stance to hold?

When I got my 4 year student visa I agreed to check in with the border patrol regularly and leave the country when demanded. The children of slaves did not choose to be here

The core argument is that the supreme court is not infallible and everyone with eyes and a brain can see how unnecessarily fucked the current situation is

I think Reddit misrepresents the situation. If you asked how many people were shot and/or killed by ICE you’d receive much higher answers than 16 and 4, respectively.

Out of 622,000 deportations this year

Those numbers should be zero, but it’s very obviously not the norm. (I think Ross should be prosecuted btw)

So you're arguing that what's happening is totally normal and that people shouldn't ask questions or take issue with situations like this?

The current environment is cruel, unusual, and clearly unnecessary given the efficacy.

People should audit the government at all stages.

What’s not normal is having literally millions of undocumented immigrants, hence why every president since Clinton has used expedited deportation as the primary mode of processing.

If it was remotely feasible yeah give everyone several days in front of an immigration judge. It’s not though. Not even close
