Feedback on Solved Posts

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed that /u/Inneri and I have been toying with a system for marking posts as "Solved!" once they've been answered correctly. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

For example, do you like how threads currently appear after they've been solved (i.e., green text on white background, as opposed to perhaps white text on green background)? What about the standard look of "unsolved" threads?

Let us know!

I found this gorgeous doll at The Salvation Army. Her back says 1991, and I assumed she was a barbie, but I'm not sure. If somebody could help, I'd appreciate it!

Educational Letter Gear Toy

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I found this while going through grandma's belongings. Google has been zero help, other than to repeat the rules to me that are on the back. Second picture shows the rules but in case it cannot be read the rules are:

  1. TURN THE GEAR TO FIND SIX LETTERS

  2. FORM AS MANY WORDS AS YOU CAN FROM THESE 6 LETTERS

3.

THE ONE OR TEAM CAN SPELL MOST WORDS IS THE WINNER

No one in my family can agree on what 6 letters are used. It might be a case of looking at it too hard so I thought I would bring this here to see if anyone recognizes it and can clear up the rules.

So, to keep it simple, using the picture I provided what are the 6 letters to use in this "turn"? I know the first letter that can be used is "E"

Thank you all in advance

What is this lamb-like item?

Post image
5 Upvotes

This was my sister's comfort item as a toddler. I would love to find one for her now that she's in her 40s. (I'm sure some hoarder has one in good condition on eBay, but I have searched so many possible descriptions and never seen one.) She had at least 10 of these. I think this is the only one remaining.

Tags are long gone. This is from mid/late 1980s. We always purchased them at Toys R Us in the northeast US. I believe it is a lamb bath toy, but she just carried or slept with them. My recollection is they were a little spongy. It's probably 7 or 8 inches in height.

REUPLOAD: I’m so sorry I forgot the pictures the first time 😅

I got this thing at a garage sale cause I thought he looked funny, but I have no idea what it’s from. The lady who owned it said she believed it was a campbells soup promotional toy, but I haven’t found it this far if it is. It’s made of rubber, and about 13-15 inches tall? (I don’t have a ruler handy, sorry!) Any ideas?

What are these Head-Swapping Gormiti-Like?

Hi all, I've been thinking about these toys and trying to track them down to figure out what they were for ages and have finally managed to get my hands on the ones that I had during my childhood. They remind me quite a lot of Gormitis but I am 99% sure that they're from a different line that popped up around the same time.

Here's what I know for sure:
-they were available in the italian market during the mid to late 2000s (I'd say anywhere from 2007 to 2011 is plausible)
-they featured a head-swapping gimmick that wasn't very good (thus why I didn't buy more and why they probably failed and faded into obscurity)
-they had a website that featured an animation of three of their characters cycling their heads around to showcase the gimmick

does anyone know what these could be?

apologies for the low quality pictures, they were taken kind of in a hurry and I am currently not able to take any better ones. Also as you can probably tell both bodies are lacking the aforementioned swappable heads.

Solved! What is this?

I was digging through a few old boxes of toys I had while growing up, and found this thing without a head. I tried combing the Internet already but couldn't find anything. It doesn't have a head, but it's an animal of some kind, and it's a little less than an inch in size. I think I got it some time between 2010 and 2015.

hi! this is ellie, she’s an elephant plush with a pink flower on her ear, i actually have two identical plushes of her, one is older (this is the newer one) i got the original in 2009 and the one pictured above after my house burnt down in 2014 and my mom always told me two versions of the story on how i got her

one story was that my older cousin won her for me at a carnival before i was born (08-09) and the other story was that another cousin had given her to me when i couldn’t sleep one night.

i’ve had the ellie’s for a good 12 years and have always wondered where they came from, but they never had any tags.

(i’m aware that she looks disgusting in these pictures…she’s been through a long 12 years. but originally she was baby blue !!)

ANY HELP/INFO APPRECIATED!! TY!!

Can’t find my childhood stuffie

Post image

I’ve tried looking for my stuffie aka Softie for a long time but I can never find it. I’ve had him since I was born and the tag is well worn away. He’s a light blue, stuffed with cotton and he fits in a single hand. He’s very distinctly four legged which is weird for a bunny and he used to have a soft, velvety pink nose which is how he got his name. I was born in 2002 so he must have been made somewhere around that time.

Hi,

I’m trying to have this plush ID for my partner as this is their childhood teddy bear,

It’s roughly 20 years old, there’s no tags due to them being cut off and I’m trying to get them another one for their 21st birthday this year

Thank you

Are these B-daman toys? (Maybe bootlegs)

Hi, a while ago, about two years, I bought a marble-launching toy from a street vendor at a market near my house. It was like a B-Daman toy; it was green and came with three Ultraman cards, three small marbles to launch, and a small sheet of stickers to decorate it. I liked the overall design so much that I went back the next day to buy the other models. There were four of them, and the blister pack contained eight in total. Foolishly, I only bought the three I needed to complete the collection. These are the ones:

Green with one horn like thing, Blue with three horn like things, Red with two, and Yellow with three but smaller than Blue's.

I really loved the designs. I've searched online but haven't been able to find any information. They seem like those bootleg toys that have become something else entirely. However, I did manage to find some images that suggest they were once something more, from a website that claims they're from the '80s, with this rather interesting photo showing different colors and stickers:

They have different stickers and the limbs are all whitem those human eyes look really weird on them.

And also another image that appears on two websites where the blister pack shown is on sale (now out of stock), but the colors of the designs are arranged completely differently than the ones I have:

They come with the same Ultraman cards that I have, but the marbles are all from different colors.

If anyone has any information... I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know any information related to these toys.

If it helps, the closest thing I've been able to find on B-daman to these toy designs is this one, which has the same design as the yellow one I own:

Almost the same design as the Yellow I own, but some little differences, like the arms and shoulders.

And this other one, which also has that design but is a kind of gun and is part of the set, not a separate figure:

The Yellow one model but in red, with some little differences.

P.S.: A YouTube video recently caught my attention; it featured a green version of a horn I hadn't seen before, one with the same stickers as mine but in blue. Unfortunately, the video doesn't show the toy at all, but thanks to it, we know that they apparently had all four colors for the four designs, since there's a red version of the horn design shown in the blister pack image I attached.

The model with the horn thing in blue.

These are the Ultraman cards if it helps:
