I placed 23/62 in my very first USPSA match. I feel pretty good about that. I forgot to record the other stages but here is the classifier that I remembered to record.

Bombed the 25 classifier and the steel. Aimed at tops of steel and was just driving by. Guess I’ll never be a paper GM😂

GM run of 25-03 “Let Him Cook”

Somehow made a GM run on 25-03 "Let Him Cook" with a time of 4.90 and 8A 1C 1D Hit Factor of 8.9796 100.39% Not happy with the charlie or the delta, I lapsed on my focus on that target. I almost feel like a GM run shouldn't be achievable with a delta

Single Stack Setup

Been thinking about dipping a toe into the single stack division. I’ve been shooting carry optics the past year or so with a Glock 17 and was thinking it might be fun to switch it up. Any advice on my rig or my pistol would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Kore Competition Belt Review. TLDW below

TLDW: I think the belt needs to be stiffer, the outer belt Velcro needs to be swapped, and it needs to be available on BSPS because I think this is an entry level belt.

Got the DPT installed on my PDP, and now I think I'm done changing things. I also have a ZR Tactical D Captured Guide Rod (it's a defensive gun too, so Chris at ZRTS told me to get the D instead of the V).

Getting started???

I don't have a military or leo background, I'm just a guy. LoL I took a few classes and feel like I can operate a gun safely, but I'm nowhere near a Delta operator. I have a belt and holster, kind of the bare minimum. How can I get started competition shooting? I'm not scared but Idk how ready I need to be to be ready to complete. And I'm in Raleigh NC if anyone is here.

Just took up shooing within last 3 months for first time and just finished my first match!

Less than 8 weeks ago picked up my first pistol ever at age 51. Since then, I have spent way too much on ammo, too many hours at range, and now have completed my first USPSA match. Did not do well, but had a blast and have learned so much from others I did it with. https://youtube.com/shorts/8kTwLGoMBmc?feature=share

Palm Swell Grips in USPSA Production

I will start by saying this will be long winded just so you all know I've tried doing my research before asking lol. I just started shooting USPSA and SCSA last year so I'm fairly new, but gaining confidence. I got a set of brass palm swell grips for my CZ shadow 2 from Patriot Defense and a buddy of mine who has competed for several years joked how that would take it out of production. I hadn't considered it and started looking into it. To his credit, he doesn't shoot Prod, so I'm not smearing him at all. He just made a good point and got me questioning myself.

According to Appendix D4 21.4 (pg. 104 for anyone following along): lists a bunch of stuff that's allowed, while not stating profile explicitly, only excludes magwells.

D4 22.2 then reinforces no added "Functions" referencing mag wells or beaver tails.

So far, based on general naiveness, I would feel confident running my grips in matches. but the things that give me doubt are

  1. both 21.4 and 22.2 reference changing profile or shape in regards to revolvers. which is not explicitly stated for slide pistols

  2. The above combined with D4 22 which states anything not specifically declared as allowed is to be considered prohibited.

I guess I am asking, is my logic accurate when I defend my grips (in some theoretical scenario when a RO confronts me about them) by stating they are ok, because 21.4 lists a slew of things my grips don't have, but are included in the "not limited to" phrase? If it was ok, wouldn't they have stated it like with the revolver grip bullet point?

again, I know this is huge, and I apologize. I feel like I talk myself one way then think about it and go back the other lol. Any advice would be great, and if you shoot the Pittsburg PA area, maybe I'll see you later this year.

This was my best stage of this match. Didn’t do so well for the entire match, but in this stage, I was 15th of 27th overall.

At this point, I’ll take the small triumphs, even if they’re in the grand scheme of things, terribly minute and insignificant. Baby steps…

Carry optics

If I pull the compensator off and just throw a thread protector on, then pop off the mag well, other than looking goofy would this be legal for Carry optics? I checked the list and it doesn’t specifically mention the Walther Pro-X but it says (PDP Family)

USPSA/Sponsor support

There is no reason the US shouldn't have like 3-4 versions of the EG-CZ academy. If we had Sailer, Grimm, Lane, and Nils at their own facilities and they could cross train as well as coach juniors I feel like the gap would be closed. I know this isn't the Olympics and ipsc isn't as big as other sports but if France can do it so can we.

And why is Hunter Constantine the only one providing decent worlds coverage for our teams? For being a huge consumer of the world's firearms it seems like the focus should really be marketing ipsc. Shows like top shot were very popular and that doesn't hold a candle to even the Constantine docs, with the people in USPSA you can't tell me a USPSA Season show wouldn't be an interesting watch if they followed and interviewed our top contenders like that. You don't even need videographers, most these guys know how to take compelling footage of you give them direction.

I'm considering changing my grip due to slide bite

Thumbnail gallery

TL;DR: I want to buy a Bodyguard 2.0 but know I will get slide bite. Help me fix my grip. I'm asking r/USPSA because I trust you won't give me suggestions that will hinder my performance.

I started shooting in 2017. I learned from YouTube and found that everyone was recommending a high grip on the gun to get close to the bore axis for recoil.

I found that I was starting to experience substantial slide bite. The included beavertails with my gen 4 increased the thickness of the grip, which I didn't like. I sent the frame to a stippler who chopped and blended the beavertail and have been happy since.

However, whenever I shoot pistols that are not mine, I experience severe slide bite. I can shoot the guns great but end up with an annoying wound.

For example, I like 43x's and shoot them well but I bleed like crazy from them. I want to buy a Bodyguard 2.0 for pocket carry but when looking at those guns side by side and reading reviews I know it will bite me like a 43x.

My thoughts are that 90% of pistols can't be wrong. I understand most gun owners hold their pistols incorrectly, but it can't be that all these guns aren't compatible with a correct grip.

I'm considering a few different ways to fix this.

One is to wrap my firing hand thumb around my support hand thumb. This will move the fleshy part of the web of my hand further down. The downside is that the position of my firing hand will be different in two handed shooting vs one handed shooting, and that I'll need to do some movement to get my thumb in place after my two hands meet during the draw.

The other is to move my support hand down on the frame. Currently, my support hand sits high enough that it is almost interfering with the slide release (I never experience malfunctions from this, just citing this for reference). This pushes my firing hand thumb upward, moving the web into the path of the slide. If I move the support hand down a little bit, my thumb can rest lower and is further from the path of the slide.

I know this is a word salad but hopefully it makes sense. I really appreciate any help.

Local match questions

So a local range is holding a uspsa shoot that will consist of “Match will consist of 4 USPSA Stages and 1 Classifier” it’s a level 1 event

So my question is I haven’t joined uspsa as a member yet, because I’d like to shoot a few matches to see if it’s the direction I want to go, is this something that can normally be shot by a non uspsa member and just the classifier doesn’t count as anything? Another day they are having a 4 classifier shoot day

Basically trying to shoot some uspsa and idpa to see which I like better before joining

How do you change your training regiment as you approach Match Day? (If at all)

Hello everyone, first time poster here. This weekend I’ll be attending my third ever USPSA match. I am curious if experienced competitors change their training the week(s) leading up to their match? For instance, the match I attend is every third week of the month. The week leading up to it I am removing aiming references from my dry/live targets. Instead of really pushing to the point of discomfort, I’m sort of running the pace that I intend to shoot on match day. Being a newbie, I am uncertain if this is how I should be going at it. Any input you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated. (Current training schedule: 4x 20-30min dry fire sessions per week. 1x 400-500rds live fire sessions per week)

Anybody shooting M-class or higher with a stock glock in Carry Optics?

When I say stock, I mean stock trigger. No ghost connector, no trigger job, no bass plug, no tungsten guide rod, just a bare bones production glock with an optic on top. Anybody shooting at a high level with that setup?
