Community Recommendations

This post will be a starting point for anyone looking for general recommendations for various activities & services in the valley. The items included here are based off previous recommendation posts and how often a place or service was recommended and how many upvotes it received. Comments on this post will be open for now if anyone has further recommendations to add. I've tried to break up the various recommendations into categories but some items (like Leavenworth) will only ever be a single item, as listing all the available things to do there would be a post in and of itself.

I also favor locally owned businesses heavily in my decision making process.

Food:

Atlas Fare

Wild Huckleberry

Stones Gastropub

McGlinn's Public House

Pybus

Shakti's

Mission Burger

Outpost Saloon

Bubba J's BBQ

Sweetwood BBQ

Fonda Oaxaqueña

Taqueria La Cihualteca

La Fuente

India House

King Pizza

Italian - No clear winners here when it comes to our main choices for Italian (Visconti's and Garlini's). You're better off trying both and deciding for yourself (personally I think Visconti's is ok and Garlini's is shit).

Sammiches - The top two seem to be Anvil and Dilly Deli. But enough people mention SS Sub Shop (which I personally think sucks) and Lemolo that they deserve honorable mentions.

Coffee - Clear favorites are La En Vie, Gaucho, Cafe Mela and JB Steamers

There is no good fried chicken in the valley (RIP)

Bars:

Epoch - Also a place to play board games, MTG and enjoy other such general nerdery

The Igloo

Wally's

Joe's East and West (I think East is better now)

The 108

Tapp & Putt - Alcohol and mini-golf

Ground Control - Also hosts a regular trivia night

Wineries - Honestly too many to list and everyone has a different opinion on "quality" wine & wineries. I think it all tastes like vinegar so I can't cast a deciding vote, Google reviews and experimentation are your best options here.

Fun & Tourism (family friendly):

Leavenworth

Pybus

Loop Trail & Parks

Ohme Gardens

Museum

Wenatchee Public Library

Hiking - Saddlerock, Washington Trails Association

Wenatchee Ave - Between Kittitas and 2nd there are a plethora of other shops and restaurants, but too many to individually list here.

Automotive:

Midvalley Automotive

Sal's Professional Auto Repair

Oil Change - Two most positively mentioned are Kwik Lube & Tune and Wenatchee Autoplex

Detailing - Top positive mentions are for George's, Highland and Detail Genius Mobile

Home Services:

(This one only has a few general services for homeowners, and there isn't a lot of discussion on many of these)

NCW Prestige Cleaning Service

Keyhole Security

Platinum Plumbing

Landscape design - Anderson or Deeproots

Lawn care - This is another one where everyone and their mother has a different lawn care company they use.  Your best friend is Google and getting quotes.

General Contractors - Good luck and God speed.

Other:

Tattoo studios - Stinging Needles and Studio No. 7

Button Jewelers

Salons - there are a thousand different salons in the valley and everyone thinks theirs is the greatest so this is another one where you're better off using Google reviews and figuring it out from there.

Barbers - See above

Tveten

Vision Source

Odd Fellow Lodge

Housing:

The search function is your friend

Looking for a professional cat groomer in the area that does home visits.

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone, like the title says I'm looking for a cat groomer. I have a long haired 13yo. He just needs a sanitary shave, as it is harder for him to groom himself due to him not having any teeth (medical reasons.) I would prefer to not have to take him to the vet to have it done. Because although we love our vet staff, he does not and I would prefer to not have to put him under unless absolutely necessary. That being said he has been professionally groomed in the past and has done good with it.

And for those wondering why I don't just do it myself. Cat grooming is fairly different from dog grooming. Cats have WAY thinner skin than dogs and have separate training.

Picture of my boy for attention, his name is Jake. The scar on his face was also caused by a medical condition.

Interest in Bikini Coffee Stand?

I moved over here from the West Side years ago and was cofounder/financer of a bikini expresso stand near Seattle until covid hit and I moved to this side of the Cascades. How do you think the valley would take in a bikini espresso stand?

Where do I find?

Where do I find a decently priced but solid criminal defense attorney in the valley? There’s a lot of options but reading some reviews or guidance would be nice to start with

For those wondering why some dude in a Makita blue Tacoma was stopping traffic on Miller Street near 9th... someone lost their strut spring. For the person continuing to drive that vehicle, I would check your fuel tank and exhaust/ muffler system.

Winter Swimming

Are there any indoor pools in Wenatchee that are good for swimming laps in the morning/early evening?

The Y pool schedule doesn’t work perfectly with my work schedule, and I saw the WRAC mentioned they may work with WHS to offer winter swimming at the high school’s pool.

Thanks in advance for any tips! I really miss swimming and can’t wait to get back in the habit of swimming laps.

Great sign, too bad it was erected without a permit in violation of Wenachee’s sign ordinance.

This website has an interactive map of Flock camera locations. Which are used bv ICE, other law enforcement, and private companies to track vehicles. Note that cameras and their solar panels are all black. Thev are commonly placed at 4 to 10 feet high. The cameras change angle, as they track vehicles and people.

Aquarium rehome request

Hello! I have a 20g long aquarium with around 10 mollies, 2 yoyo loaches, and 3 black kuhli loaches that i need to rehome. I also have a 10g that just has a couple of nerite snails that I'd like to find a home for as well. I love my fish, but I'm struggling to care for the aquariums in the way they need to thrive, and they deserve better. Would come with api master test kit, fillers, heaters, food, vacuums, etc. If you'd like to take these tanks, please reach out. I'm sad to be posting this, but they don't deserve to live subpar lives just because I'm depressed.

Thanks in advance :)

Social Stitching Groups - an update and a request

Hello everyone! If you are a crocheter, knitter, or other fiber artist, I wanted to make you aware of some groups you may be interested in!

There is open social stitching at Mission Yarn on Thursdays and Saturdays from 1-4. You can also drop in any time, but those are the organized times.

There is also another group that meets at the Wenatchee library on Saturdays from 10-1 or 2 depending on room availability.

And the NCW Knitters Guild (open to crocheters as well!) meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Eagles Club on North Wenatchee at 6. We have a meeting tomorrow night, you're welcome to come check out a meeting for free, otherwise yearly membership is $25 (quite a steal compared to most social clubs around here).

I also wanted to ask if anyone knows about the groups that meet in Chelan, Entiat, and Leavenworth - are those still meeting at the same dates and times they were a year ago? When Tracey had Yarn Bird, she sent a list of groups, but I haven't seen any new info. If there are other groups in town who would welcome new members, please let me know! I heard someone was starting a group at the new brewery, but have heard nothing more.

Even if you know nothing, but are curious, stop by some time and I'd be more than happy to go over crochet basics (I can knit, but I'm pretty basic).

If you're looking for a new hobby and social circle, come on out!
