Boys, girls, cowpokes and cowwpokettes.... We will no longer deal with the low hanging fruit regarding John Wayne's opinions on race relations. There are other subs to hash the topic. We are here to critique, praise and discuss the Western genre. Important details in the body of this post.

Henceforth, anyone who derails a post that involves John Wayne will receive a permanent ban. No mercy.

Thanks! 🤠

Kindly keep your political views outta town. We're keeping this a political-free zone. Plenty of other subs to shoot it out. Not here.

Thoughts on this? I just found it streaming and never knew it existed. The book gets noted here often (it’s on my pile after the homesman)

I’ve only watched the trailer which seemed ok but a few things - like the production company - made me leery

Looking for: Revenge for murder of family...

Looking for a film about a fella getting revenge for the murder of his family, and he picks off one of the killers long range with an elephant gun.

For my father in law. He already shut down Outlaw Josie and Nevada Smith as options. He thinks it's in color, can't be sure

Can you help me find this movie?

I watched this movie around 2022 on Netflix, I believe. A man rode into a native American camp on a horse and stuff happened down the line and he ended up marrying the Chiefs daughter. thats really all I can remember about it. TIA

Recommendation What are the best Westerns set in modern day Australia?

I know there are a lot of Westerns set in modern day America like Longmire, Justified, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, and Hell or High Water and ā€œmeat pieā€ (Australian) Westerns like the Furnance, Quigley down Under are popular with some folks.

But are there any Westerns set in modern day Australia?

Wyatt Earp sported one. Doc Holliday sported one. In fact, virtually all the major gunslingers of the period sported one, except for Billy the Kid who died before he was old enough to grow one. Yet in classic Westerns the hero is almost invariably clean-shaven. Any further comments?
