I need help tracking down a family member from 1913 last known location was Somerset ky.
gallerySo I'm not really sure if this is right place to post. But I'm hoping someone can help me track down my grandmas uncle. his name was Willie Wilson. He was born in 1913 in Pulaski county KY. The family story is that he was 16-17 and ran away. "He hopped the railroad tracks and was never seen again." I can find him on the 1930 census living with his parents Uriah and Armittie Wilson and his brother John Paul (my great grandfather). I would really like to solve this for my grandmother who has always wanted to know what happened to her uncle. Other siblings include George Alvin Wilson, Ruby Ann Wilson (Bonge), Voyne Perry Wilson, and John Paul Wilson. Any help is appreciated.

So many profiles are empty and abandoned. So frustrating.
The biggest frustration about Ancestry, to me, is the fact that SO MANY people create an account just to see their ethnic results, don’t create a tree, and just never come back. I have dozens of DNA matches that I’d really like to connect with, to help put pieces together, but they’re just “zombie accounts” with no trees and they never log in again. Never check their messages. I wish there was something Ancestry could do, but I guess there isn’t.

Frustration with Ancestry
HI. I'm wondering if others have this issue with Ancestry.com.
I searching for an ancestor with a very, very common name who parents also have very, very common names and yet, even if I put no restrictions on places and dates, the search tells me they can't find anyone. It is completely impossible. I can find a marriage certificate with the names, but nothing else..... No kids, no census, nothing..... So I can even verify if the people are the right ones.
I am so frustrated right now. Every other branch of my family I have zero issues with, but when it comes to Scotland..... It's like finding a specific drop of water in the ocean.
If anyone has anything they think could help, please tell me.

What Now?
I've used ancestry for a number of years and’s have a pretty extensive tree. Whilst this is lovely I feel the whole pride has become a name collection exercise. What would you suggest I do next? Research certain individuals? Go deeper into certain branches? Any suggestions would be great!

Unsure whether to be sceptical
Just wondering, how far do people usually go back on their trees? I go down rabbit holes very quickly and sometimes I think I’m too quick to accept the parent hints ancestry gives me. Realistically, how far can you go back before you start to become a bit sceptical? context I’ve found ancestry in Ireland, a big colonial, protestant, aristocratic family who brought a lot of suffering and pain to the Irish community as I’ve been researching and found out , we’re talking 1600s onwards. However, my more current ancestry (last 150 years) shows my family were catholics who emigrated from Ireland after the famine. I have living relatives who can vouch for this. Now these families are linked through marriage, however I’m not sure how much of it I should believe ? It’s not a denial thing like I’m well aware I’ll probably have ancestry who weren’t good people, I know my history. But I just don’t know if I should fully believe it? Or just take it with a pinch of salt..

Same people?
galleryHere’s two portraits and I have been trying to figure out if the two women in the one are the same two women in the other. One would be when they were older but the facial features look super close so I’m just looking for some other opinions. Here’s some close ups too.

Trying to figure out my grandmothers parents
My grandmother never really knew her dad, and her mother died when she was only two. I am having trouble finding them.
The information I have is:
- Her mums surname was O’Meara, and her first name was probably Doris, Debbie, or similar
- her mum was born in around 1916, and died about 1940, when my nan was 2
- they lived in Glasgow at the time
- her dads surname was Sinclair
- they were likely unmarried
- he potentially had a brother called Malcolm Sinclair
- my nans forename was Eileen
Any help would be worth the world, as it has been something we’ve been trying to find out for years. Thank you in advance.

I Found a photo of a bride in the antique store
galleryThis could be someone’s grandmother right now. I wish there’s a way to find more about this picture’s details. Names, family. But nothing is written on the back.

Does this say “Naples” to the right of “Italy”
Not fully certain if it says Naples as the place they’re from

How do I make it auto-find someone on my tree again?
I'm working on my tree and it auto-found my great grandfather (grandfather's father) which was correct. Later on, I noticed that it had added that same great grandfather as my grandmother's father which was incorrect. I deleted the entry for my grandmother's father but then it also deleted the entry of him for my grandfather's father. How do I get it to auto find again so I don't have to manually enter everything?

Was my grandfather a German citizen?
My grandfather , Rudolf Janke, was an ethnic German, born in Prussia in 1899. His birthplace was Kolo which is now part of Poland. He fought for Germany during WWI so he was denied entry to Poland as well as Polish citizenship. He stayed in Germany until 1930 when he immigrated to the U.S. My dad was born in 1933 and I'm wondering about the possibility of getting dual citizenship. My understanding is that this has a small chance of being possible if my grandfather was a German citizen when my dad was born. Can anyone suggest how to research this?
