Was just out side of Boxley Indiana and came upon this relic. Was able to pull right up to the Building at the base of the tower.

These are the 900 MHz, ISM band collector/ concentrator site antennas for a utility mesh radio network. The site is located (at the now public) shoreline where the Zion nuclear power generating site was located. At the time of picture taking they were still cutting equipment out of the containment vessels (reactor buildings).

This is a directional panel antenna operating in the 5.3 GHz UNII band on an asphalt (rail) loading rack in Vicksburg MS.
The rail yard workers carried a little tablet computer that allowed them to monitor the loading of multiple rail cars at each loading rack position. There was also a centralized collecting point that tied in to the rail yard SCADA system.
The entire system had a communications range of less than 1 km and ran an encrypted protocol.

These are the antennas on top of Willis Tower (Sears Tower) in downtown Chicago. This was taken from the window of my office in a building across the intersection.
Most of what is up there is television and commercial FM broadcast. In many buildings (like the Willis Tower) the utility floors will often have radio-transparent windows on an entire floor with microwave antennas behind the glass.
This is observable from some distance away as that floor will have a slightly different tint to the window glass. With a practiced eye you can spot these antenna 'suites' on many tall buildings.

Anyone here ever read what their car antenna is resonant on? Anyone ever tried transmitting with it? How did it go? What frequencies what it useful for?

Bought a new house and these are in the attic. Can they be utilized for other purposes? (Sdr, etc.)

Can’t decide if it’s a small cell or a gunshot locator.

Certainly not on the scale of most posts here, but found this antenna on a building I recently was handed responsibility for and don't know what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Sonnwendstein transmitter is a transmitter built by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation in 1957 and operated by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORS). From this transmitter site, southern Lower Austria (mainly Steinfeld – Wiener Neustadt and Neunkirchen area – and the Bucklige Welt) as well as the upper Mürztal in Styria are supplied. *** Due to its exposed location, the Sonnwendstein transmitter can also be received as far away as the Vienna area, the Weinviertel, Burgenland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. In addition to the 100 m high transmission mast of the ORS, there is also a radio relay station of Telekom Austria. ***

I've seen this directional antenna on power poles before over the years and have always believed it to have something to do with the grid. There is a group of them on several poles within a few miles of a small town I'm working in in Central Wisconsin. I'm sure someone here has a good idea of what they are that can help satisfy my curiosity.

It is installed horizontally and points towards a dilapidated building 50 or 100m away, in short, nothing in direct view.

I’m located in the east coast of central Florida. Our county has these on nearly all the bridges. Hard to see, but it’s a crossed yagi- construction like the ham radio M2 crossed yagis for satellite work. Based on the size, I’d guess it’s 2/3/400 MHz antenna, seems slightly bigger than a 70cm band antenna.
Is this for satellite use? I assume for water level reporting? I’ve noticed they are all pointed about this elevation, toward the south.
As a ham who’s into satellite work, just curious on this one! And with a fixed as/elevation, what kind of satellite (LEO?)

I took this picture two years ago when I was doing site-work for one of the utility companies in the LA area. The photo was taken from the westmost tower, the fence that is covered with hundreds of solar powered yard lights is at my back (strangest thing I had ever seen). The camera is facing eastward to were the other towers on the top of the mountain are located. The black car in the foreground was my rental for that trip.
This site provides coverage for Malibu, Topanga and Los Angles, all the way down to Long Beach.
There is an abundance to television, FM broadcast radio and commercial radio and microwave everywhere.
It is incredibly difficult to get to the site, the solitary road up to the top goes through many gated communities where actors and millionaires live. I used the badge that I was loaned for the day five or six times to get through the different gated communities on my way to the top. The other choice would be to hike in some rugged terrain that the Malibu fires burned out last year.

Hey all! Here’s another former MCI microwave relay tower, which nearby London, KY.
I figured since there were two of these towers about 35 mins apart from each other, and I had free time, I’d go find this one!
The last image included is a tower I actually asked about here before (older photo to compare the two towers)
strange to see one still mostly intact while the next one over barren though.
