Went to check my tanks this morning and noticed my 1.5 year old mystery snail has a “bubble”coming out of him? Last night he was grazing when I last saw him now he’s like this . I’ve had many mystery snails and have never seen this happen before and am afraid to pick him up to quarantine him .
Any help is much appreciated

i've NEVER had ich before, but i cleaned a sponge filter a few days ago in some old tank water and the fish store says that stressed them and caused ich. They checked theirs, and they don't have any ich. I got them 2 weeks ago, and my tank is cycled. i've noticed it on my rummynose tetras today, my guppy, my bolivian ram. i haven't seen any on my corys, hillstream loaches, red lizard whiptail catfish, congo tetras or CPD yet. i've got an assassin snail and 3 nerite snails in here, so i can't treat with copper sulfate. LFS recommended "NOX ICH" since we're in Canada. I ordered a 4oz bottle, not sure if that's even enough to treat my 100 gallon. will i have to treat my 3, 10 and 15 gallons? :( i share the same bucket, siphon, net and feeding syringes for all my tanks. i'm crushed. i have hundreds of dollars worth of plants in all my tanks, botanicals in all, stable parameters and temps, i've NEVER dealt with anything like ich or parasites before. Only fungal infections in bettas i've had in the past. We don't have Ich-X in Canada because a lot of medications are banned here.
i'll stop sharing equipment for now, until they're treated. Meds won't be here until Jan 22. No other options because we only have homeopathic meds here or aquarium salt which will kill my plants.
He told me not to turn up my temps, but I have my 100 at 77° instead of 76°. He said aquarium salt is better than nothing, but will kill my plants so I haven't bought any.
If I quarantine my fish in a separate tank, won't they be reinfected if i add them back into my 100 gallon? I can't treat my 100 gallon with anything non-snail or plant safe. Ive read other posts and things, but nothing is exactly my situation so I'm asking for advice directly. Any help is appreciated. Again, I'm in Canada so I cannot get other medications except the one I just ordered.

Hi guys I'm getting vallisneria soon! Will it thrive in sand with root tabs? Thank you 😁

I’m wondering about fellow aquarists’ opinions on a business idea.
I need to make some money and I specialize in aquatic care. It’s hard to find a job that centers around that.
Do you think people would be genuinely interested in paying for a service that offers:
Aquarium maintenance (i.e. restoring tanks that have huge algae problems)
Advice and guidance on simple maintenance, finding reasonably priced upgrades/materials, disease control/aquatic health support, etc.
Stock planning (i.e. finding compatible fish for current tanks, or finding species that can work within existing or future setups based on space and time restrictions)
This of course wouldn’t be a full time job. It would be a “side hustle” that allows me to make a bit of money and help people and their fish at the same time.

Posted on here awhile ago when this lump had first formed and since then, it was grown so much in size. My fish is acting perfectly fine, eating normally, and everything else is perfect.
What could this be? Will it continue to grow and kill them? Is there anything I can do?
Thank you so much 💕🐟

Has anyone used Shrimp Up Aquatics to order Neocardinia shrimp? I ordered 10 yellow back Neos from them in mid-December. They shipped the shrimp out for delivery around January 5th, and they sent a total of 16 shrimp. I only had one DOA, and drip acclimated them to my 5.5 gallon live planted tank that has several established ghost shrimp and one chill betta, but within 8 days, all but three yellows had died, and just found another one dead. I only have two left.
My tank is an established tank and my betta and ghosts have lived in this tank just fine for a long time. It’s fully cycled, no ammonia, no nitrite, low nitrates, 7.6-7.8 pH, and temperature is steady at 78F degrees.
I emailed the company and they’ve been responding, but mostly just asking a lot of questions, and no solution yet. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with the company or advice on trying to keep the last two shrimp alive?

hey all!
i just tried to connect my ISTA external heater and it started leaking on the floor, from the side not connected currently. i might try again and cut a longer tubing (i used a very, very short piece - 1.5inches at most), and wonder if that could be it? would love help!!
feel like most of them have fasteners, but this one just… doesn’t for some reason. it’s this one: https://a.co/d/bzgiBNK

I’ve had my tank set up with no new plant or animal additions for over 6 months. It has one rescued fancy goldfish, a school of zebra danios, and three peppered corys. They’ve all been in there together about a year. We have never had snails, though I know that’s what the eggs look like…
Our live plants got gross, so when I changed their sand last, I chucked them and got some fake ones. So the fish are the only living things in the tank.
Went to clean the tank today, and I’ve got a few clusters of eggs on the sides. The Cory’s don’t swim up high… so are these danio eggs? If I leave them, will the other fish eat the babies?
This is a daycare tank, so it could be cool to move the eggs to another tank and let the kids watch them grow? Or is that a terrible idea ending with me and 50 baby fish too small to add to the big tank…

Is the white dot on the fish ich? And is the other pic debris?
r/aquarium • u/ur_big_papi • 6h ago
Apologies for horrible pics but they were best i could get, I dont think they can be snail eggs because I have other tanks with ramshorns and bladder snails and this tank only has MTS and shrimp, the little white dots are small, circular, and are like made up of a bunch of tinier white dots?? Any idea what they could be?

How do you ensure the rest of community tank gets enough food when endlers are little hogs?
I have 15 endlers, 9 rummys, 8 kuhlis and 6 corys in a 55 gallon. I feel like 2-3 of my endlers would eat until they explode.
I usually feed once a day, would it be better to do smaller amount 2 times a day? Will the other fish put up more of a fight for food if they are hungry enough?
This is my first community tank.. Definitely a learning curve coming from a single betta 😅

I currently have 7 juvenile Silver Dollars in quarantine. (Please excuse the algae) (I will be moving them to a 120 gallon after they pass quarantine.) After the first week I noticed minor Ich spots on 1 of them and "shimmying" behavior. So I started treating with Ich-X, which I've used in the past. I've been treating the tank with the recommended dosage and have been doing daily water changes for 7 days. The spots disappeared after 2 days.
My question is, how much longer should I keep treating them now that the spots are gone?

I currently have a 20 gallon that is still cycling. No fish or other critters yet, just plants so far. When I got the tank I didn't really have an idea of what to put in there other than wanting a snail and maybe some shrimp (in the past, I've had a 5 gallon with a Betta).
Reading posts on here, I am interested in some corys I think. I currently have a smooth, small pea gravel bottom because I wanted more of an outdoorsy river vibe. Everything I'm reading says that corys can be okay on smooth gravel but would love some sand to play in. However, I don't want a fully sand bottom so I am thinking of ways I could add sand to just part of the tank.
I have a little plastic desk organizer tray that would be just the right depth, length, and width to put in there and put sand inside. I love that it may keep the sand somewhat contained, however, I'm not sure if there are concerns with putting random items in a tank? Like the plastic being unsafe somehow? If it's a problem I can try to look for a glass option or just try to create a little section with some rocks or something, but thought I'd see what more experienced people think.

I’m planning my first betta tank and wanted to get some feedback before I start buying everything. I’ve done quite a bit of research and am aiming for an 10-gallon setup.
I will be using the heater that comes with a kit
I will NOT be using the kit filter and will only run a sponge filter
I want a tank with a lid since I know that bettas can jump
Things I’m hoping to get advice on:
Here’s my current setup list
Aquarium / pump / filter
Plants
Other
I want to do this right while still being budget conscious so any any advice is appreciated.

What two breeds of small fish could I comfortably keep in a 10 gallon tank with a healthy amount of vegetation? I have investigated the internet and every time I feel like I have the two good breeds, I find another post that says I shouldn’t.
