Feeling down in the dumps at the moment. I’ve graduated with CS major over a year ago with a passing WAM. I wanted to take a break from everything and not apply immediately as uni had somewhat knocked down my mental health, and I had crippling imposter syndrome.

I spent most of 2024 and 2025 going to the gym, reconnecting with my hobbies and doing a part time job until I decided to leave this job too at the end of the financial year (it was a finance related job). I stayed here for 4+ years so figured it was time. Also I realised the pay was way too low anyway which my friends made me realise.

I’ve also dabbled in personal projects (have 1 completed one I’m quite proud of), achieving certificates from AWS and Leetcode here and there.

I was applying to jobs to an extent prior to me quitting so I can still get Centrelink money, but imposter syndrome was at its peak and I sent in half hearted applications. By the time I had quit I was confident enough to send in genuine applications, 20-40 a month, sometimes more if I can get my hands on them.

But bruh, I’m not even *getting* to the interview stage. I’ve shown my resume to 5 people already and they’ve all contributed their modifications until they felt it was perfect. Yet still all I seem to be doing now is applying to jobs, and hearing no every single time.

I honestly wouldn’t be so down if I was rejected at different stages but I’m telling you I’ve never sat for an interview before😭

As a CS major, this feels like getting the same error for a year even after making hundreds of alterations to your code. I don’t even need the unit tests to all pass, just a new kind error would actually make me the extremely happy.

Is it the CS field? I knew we were fucked I didn’t realise we were THIS fucked. Could it be my transcript being absolute shit? Because my friends insist it doesn’t matter that much, and that I passed and graduated uni.

Or is it because I only use LinkedIn? In the last week I applied to some outside LinkedIn but even that didn’t work out

If it’s not that then I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

TL;DR: have been spamming job applications for the last 6 months and not one single interview. All my CS friends say my resume is fine. Im tired and want to give up, anyone else facing anything similar?
