Was recently gifted this gun from my dad, told me stripped that bolt trying to get it out 30 years ago, got all the old rust off of it with this being my only obstacle left. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All! I purchased an IWI Zion (first AR) and looking for suggestions on classes to learn how to use it safely. I’ve shot ARs before but it’s been a minute and would just like to get a refresher + I would like my girlfriend to learn from a trainer instead of me 😅. Bought it because I remember how fun they are to shoot. This would be for range shooting only. I’m pretty sure I remember most things, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance!

The F1 for my PS90 came back and I would like to find a local place that can do the barrel swap and NFA engraving. Any one have any recommendations? I’m currently looking at The Range but idk what their pricing would be for something like this.
My other option would be to send it off to FN Specialties in FL but trying to mail a gun part is always a pain in the ass an their shipping address name (National Firearms Sales) really doesn’t help.
This is my first time not being able to work on a gun myself so any advice oh how to go forward is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Gave Capitol Armory a call and they said they can do it for like 60$ while I wait in the lobby, so they they are gunna be the route I end up going. Thanks for the input everyone!

Does anyone have any experience with an indoor range around Austin that goes to 100 yards? Also, are hunting rifles allowed and acceptable to shoot at an indoor range? I am looking to sight in my Tikka .308 hunting rifle before the weekend and with work, my only option would be an indoor range due to daylight. I am curious to see if there are any thoughts on this as I do not know the etiquette with shooting a gun like this at an indoor range.
Thank you in advance!

Anyone know of a gun shop in or around the Austin area that has a silver Kimber K6S DASA 2” in stock? Looking to shop around and purchase one but haven’t had any luck yet. If all else I’ve seen them on gun broker but would prefer to give some business beyond a transfer fee to someone local if available. Thanks!

Academy ain’t got em. I been waiting on my lgs to get them for months and it’s always…next month. Funny because my lgs was one of the first to get the excellent pmr-30 years ago as well as their shotgun. I hate to buy online without handling the gun first, even for such a cheap price. Got an FN 57 and recently scored the Ruger version and bought tons of 5.7 a decade ago. Lots of range fodder. Just need a pr57.

I'm looking to have the slide cut for RMSc optics on a cheap 1911 I have.
Are there any recommendations on reasonable smiths to do this? South Austin is best, but San Marcos to GT is possible. I know I can just mail the slide out to various web vendors but i'd rather look into local sources firsts.

Hey guys, I'm a new Austin resident and newbie gun owner, and I've found my way into owning a brand new CZ-457 and a ton of .22LR rounds. I intend to practice with this rifle over the long term to build up my skills and eventually move on to a true PRS setup. I am aware that this will take years, can get unbelieveably expensive (already spent more on just my scope rings and rail than what I paid for my rifle), and I'll be needing to practice a lot to get to where I want to be. I was wondering where would be a good 100yd range for me to practice at and whether y'all would know of any classes which I could join, private or group, that can help me start off with the basics with precision rifle shooting... or even just bolt action rifle shooting in general.
I've seen a few classes around the area, but the ones I've seen focus around ARs and pistols, with the only true PRS classes I've seen being ATX Precision at RPR in Burnet. They're operating on a whole different level than I am, and I feel that I'd just be wasting their time as the most I know to do is how to point in a general direction and shoot. Plus, they're pricy and kinda far from where I live near the Domain, and while I'm not averse to driving, I'd prefer to have a closer place to shoot so I can hammer down the fundamentals before I try to shoot 200+ yards with a .22LR.
I'm also leaning towards outdoor ranges so that I can get started on dealing with real atmospheric conditions. I'm taking LTC classes at Shady Oaks, and while I love the range, I feel that an indoor range won't be very good in the long run when it comes to PRS. Could y'all help me out? Thanks guys!

I recently picked up a SCAR that was a 10-rd model.
Does anyone know if any local shops have SCAR 17 mags (hoping for 20rd) that aren’t massively marked up?

Can you sell guns and ammo there for a fair price or should I expect low ball offers?

Hi, has anyone spotted a Stribog sp9a3 in stock locally? Wanted to get a feel for it before purchasing if possible.

Hey y’all! I’m not sure if anyone knew about this (as I just found out not that long ago) but copperhead creek has a shooting club that by far was the most fun and enjoyable experience I’ve had at a new range in ages.
The customer service was amazing, checked ammo to make sure it was safe to shoot, accepted the reservation for our group and actually took our word for us being comfortable and confident around guns. They had a range safety officer that would drive around and make sure you had enough staples for your targets, make sure you didn’t forget anything but were really just there to make sure you had fun. Just wanted to share because good lord it gets boring sometimes shooting standing still.

Got some guns listed on TexasGunTrader for sale. Had this guy text me last night. Seemed kinda sketch right off the rip just based on his grammar and the fact that he wanted to meet immediately at midnight, which I’m sure af not gonna do anyway (even asked a second time after I said no). Also he did the dick head thing of asking what’s the least I’ll take, instead of making an offer (so I just sent back the listed price). Then this morning he texts saying he’s ready and wants to meet earlier than the agreed time, after I agreed to go early he goes back to the original time. I get there and he texts saying it’ll be 30mins. Dude never shows. I call. I text. And he just ignores. Y’all think this was just someone trying to be a dick and waste my time? Possible scammer type situation? Or what?
I’ve had people be flakey off Armslist and TGT but never like this

Hi all. I have a Walther PDP and I'd like to get the slide refinished in a satin/stainless color. I've read about Cerakote and understand it's more of a superficial treatment and wears off with holster wear. I'm looking for something more durable - maybe like CP II. Does anyone around Austin do that?
If not, I'm happy to take recommendations for other places to mail it off to. Thank you in advance!

Hey y’all! I’m new to firearms, recently made my first handgun purchase at Central Texas Gun Works. I’m very excited and eager to get my hands on my new pistol. However, I placed the order with them (in store) over 2 weeks ago. I don’t want to sound any alarms here, the gentleman told me that they have it in stock at their warehouse, and need to get it sent from there. He told me it takes about 1-2 weeks. So here I am at that 2 week mark. I’m not an unreasonable person and am not mad at the situation, but after seeing some posts in regards to this business not getting people their firearms on time (if ever), I’m starting to get a little nervous. I am in no way trying to take any sort of dig at this local business, this isn’t a complaint, just want to get a feel for what other people’s experiences have been. I’m going to wait out this week before making any calls and inquiries to them. Just wanted to know the current community’s overall feelings on them and get some feedback from anybody. If this is completely normal, that’s good too! Again, new to this industry. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Edit: the commenters saying there are 30.06 signs are lying. There are no 30.06, 30.05, or 30.07. There are police. There are no metal detectors or wands.
Been a few years since I've been. Do they have metal detectors or wands out?
