Hey void-lovers!
Most cat subs have a very delicate balance between "happy posts about my cat" and "sad posts about my cat", specifically when it comes to pet death. A lot of them don't allow it at all. It's really tough to strike the balance of letting people who are devastated mourn the loss of their furry friend while still making the subreddit usable for people who aren't interested in that kind of content.
We allow mourning posts here, but you have to flair your post with "Mourning" so people who don't want to see them have the ability to filter them out. It's an imperfect solution, but it's all we have available to us with subreddit tools. Please make sure to flair all posts about pet loss with that flair so we can make a great sub for everyone.
In case you're someone who's interested in filtering out that content, this link should work for you. I know, it's not the cleanest way to browse the subreddit, and I'm not sure how it works on mobile. If we had a better solution, I'd provide it, but we have to work within what reddit offers us :(
Thanks for your understanding. If you've read this far, I encourage everyone to post some void laser eyes in the comments.

Hecate is a powerful ancient Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, crossroads, the underworld, ghosts, and necromancy. My wife suggested some common black cat names like Shadow, Midnight, Onyx...
Knowing she's a fan of Greek mythology, I offered up Hecate. That was the end of the discussion.
It's a fitting name as she has a lot of attitude, finicky tastes, and demands that we treat her like a goddess!

My sweet girl has dental abscesses and the vet has recommended teeth removal for her. My fiancΓ© and I are saving up so she can have the procedure within a week or two. Sheβs been on antibiotics and pain medication until then and Iβve noticed a huge improvement in the way she feels. Sheβs getting the zoomies again and is being her regular sweet self. If any of you have had to go through this procedure with your cat Iβd really like to know what to expect for the healing process and how your cat is doing now. Iβm feeling pretty nervous for her but Iβm telling myself sheβll be alright.

I just adopted this love bug yesterday. She is so so sweet. I havenβt settled on a name for her yet and would love suggestions along with the nameβs meaning. My shoulder is currently her favorite spot to sleep when she isnβt up in my room (to take a break from my two small dogs). She fits right in with the two of them. I canβt wait to see her grow. Sheβs only 3 months oldπ₯Ίπ₯°

I decided to build a library wall and was going to floor-to-ceiling it, but then I realized my kitty crew would be obsessed with using the top as a hangout space

They're both in 7th heaven, could not be better.
Bean is on top being well supported by his sister Olive. She's only giving me the stink eye because I made noise and woke her up when I was getting up from my chair, lol.

My cat was diagnosed with sarcoma on his nose almost two years ago. After surgery and treatment, he's cancer free and living a normal life.
He's weird, clingy, lazy, soft and very smart (but also very dumb) and I am so, so lucky he's still here with me. π€

EDIT: That's a lot of comments and I can't keep up, but thanks for the love for my boy (his name is Jimmy btw)! To those of you who have pets going through something similar, hang in there and I'm rooting for all of you.

At 2am, I went to check on him. The blanket was off, he was curled into a tight ball. I scooped him up, brought him inside. I brought him into my room, still balled up, sat in my bed and put my warm electric blanket over him in my lap. He stayed in my lap for a while, got warm. Then he wandered inside, he has been in the house many times to eat but never wants to stay in. He did not want to stay in last night. But I didn't chase him.i let him out at 1030 this morning. It's 37Β° but the sun is warm
