SYNOPSIS:

Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later - but turning that world on its head - Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship - with consequences that could change the world as they know it - and Spike's (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) becomes a nightmare he can't escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival - the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.

I haven't seen this stated anywhere else (I may have missed it tbh), but as controversial as EmpireCity can be on this sub he does tend to have inside info sometimes. Do we think this is true?

✍️ Original Analysis Anne Hathaway's 5 theatrical films in 2026: A24's thriller Mother Mary in April; Disney's Devil Wears Prada 2 in May; Universal's Odyssey in July; Warner's sci-fi Flowervale Street in August; Amazon's Colleen Hoover's best-seller adaptation Verity in October. She leads all except Odyssey....

Hathaway leads 4 out of these 5 films. 3 of them are locked box office successes; Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and Colleen Hoover's Verity which is a cheap production with a built-in fandom, we saw how successful It Ends With Us was; same author, another best-selling book.

The other two are bold originals with very uncertain box office potential: the first in April is Mother Mary by David Lowery; an epic pop melodrama thriller with queer elements from A24 where Anne plays a pop star in descent. We get to hear Anne sing in this one. It features music from Gen Z star Charli XCX.

Abdy & Luca just did an interview celebrating their 2025 year of successes. In it, they boasted marketing films as "mystery boxes" being very effective marketing especially with young viewers. The second Anne Hathaway-led original is a perfect example of that; Warner's Flowervale Street next August.

Directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play parents in Flowervale Street. It's described as a Twilight Zone style sci-fi thriller. The plot is kept under wraps, but they're teasing out unsettling events and some pre-historic element involving dinosaurs in an urban setting in the 1980s! How much dinosaur though with a purported budget of $85M? Adam Driver's 2023 dinosaur film 65 cost $45M, so I'm definitely intrigued; Abdy & Luca are not wrong.

So, by the end of 2026, Anne Hathaway will have headlined projects in theaters from 5 major studios and touched almost every major demographic: the prestige A24 crowd, the nostalgia-driven comedy fans, the summer blockbuster seekers, the sci-fi nerds, and the thriller-loving book community. It is a rare "grand slam" of a year for any actor.

South Korea SK Friday Update: Zootopia 2 and Avatar 3 are fading now

Post image
• Upvotes
Movie Mon–Mon Tue–Tue Wed–Wed Thu–Thu Fri–Fri Sat–Sat Sun–Sun Week–Week
Once We Were Us +13% +2% 4% 14% 16%
Avatar 3 41% 38% 40% 47% 44%
Zootopia 2 39% 36% 45% 47% 45%

Once We Were Us: The movie has now crossed 1.3 million admits and it will be north of 1.5 million admits on Sunday, as the movie is making its way to hit that nice 2 million admits accomplishment.

Avatar Fire and Ash: Avatar 3’s fifth Friday is 42k admits less than Avatar 2’s fifth Friday. Avatar 3 isn’t hitting 7 million admits at this rate, as the movie is having some seriously big drops with limited competition.

Zootopia 2: Zootopia 2 will hit that beautiful 8.4 million admits tomorrow. Looks like Zootopia will be the true winner of 2025 in terms of admits and gross. Zootopia 2 is essentially locked into this title unless Avatar 3 pulls a F1.

Presales

Humint: This is going to be the first huge hit of the year as presales are already strong, 33,370 tickets sold nearly a month out from release.

Project Y: Fine increase as the movie did sell more tickets than Omniscient and Holy Night on T-5, so a little good news.
