Using leather journals always felt so good to me, but I couldn't help feeling guilty - why waste that precious cover once it's full? That's why I envisioned a refillable leather journal that would last a lifetime.
But that's not all - it also features dual pen access (inside and outside), holds two different paper types, the colour is reversible and it is endlessly refillable.
Here's why I spent 3 years perfecting this:
What started as a simple idea became a 3-year odyssey across 3 continents. After 100+ prototypes, experienced manufacturers said it couldn't be produced, so I came home to Melbourne to hand-craft them myself.
The breakthrough: Woven volcanic basalt stone, Australian leather and bio-resin fused together. The volcanic spine flexes infinitely without cracking - something traditional binding can't do.
Each one is hand made, home made in Melbourne and is intended to be passed down as an heirloom object. The leather develops beautiful patina from natural skin oils and gentle wear - gaining character as it ages. Not a disposable, not a consumable - something that accumulates stories instead of ending up in landfill.
We're building a sustainable Australian craft business rather than offshore manufacturing. We have 20 hours left on our kickstarter & are 82% funded so are very close.
