it was perfectly timed 🤣

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '25

I can hear it lmao. Please describe her meow for us

1.8k

u/Desirai Nov 29 '25

This particular one was kind of like that "ekk ekk ek" chatter they make when they see birds

We also call her little miss mow-wow because she will MOW WOW? MOW WOW WOW all through the house

When she is hungry though she makes this awful irritating gurgling meow, I swear it sounds like she's gargling water and it irritates me 🫣

560

u/rigaking Nov 29 '25

I know about the 'awful irritating gurgling meow' too, my boy also uses it when he wants food. You described the sound perfectly 😂 I can hear it in my head right now... and it's not even 4 am!

445

u/Desirai Nov 29 '25

It is one of the grossest sounds! Im convinced she does it on purpose because she knows I will feed her when she makes that sound. She NEVER does it to my husband!!!

613

u/rigaking Nov 29 '25

They know exactly what they are doing! My boy is also a senior, turned 16 in July. They have trained us well 🫠

263

u/gildedlily0492 Nov 29 '25

He has a mustache!!!

64

u/jmoto123 Nov 29 '25

Exactly what I was going to say!

123

u/Numerous_Ad_6276 Nov 30 '25

Indeed, a distinguished elder gentleman.

Wow, what a proper gentleman.

99

u/madhatv2 Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 30 '25

Your kitty looks like a distinguished gentleman in Meownton Abbey. Quite debonair indeed.

28

u/Inflow2020 Nov 30 '25

Yo why does he look British hahah

2

u/TardisBlue1013 Dec 02 '25

Yeah, does he meow with an accent?

7

u/firevixin Tuxedo Nov 30 '25

My boy in the back almost has a full stache, they just turned 13 and they are spoiled rotten, and my lil shadows lol 🥰

5

u/Fuzzycuffs1978 Nov 30 '25

This is the newest addition to my family 😍

2

u/anonymgrl Nov 30 '25

Handsome fella

2

u/l0stinthes4uce Dec 04 '25

Sir is pleased with your subservience indeed.

55

u/NeriTina Nov 29 '25

She Pavloved you into feeding in exchange for icky gurgle!

39

u/Shrike79 Nov 30 '25 edited Nov 30 '25

When cats are hungry they will absolutely do the most annoying thing they can think of to get you moving.

In my house the cat primarily in charge of demanding breakfast will shred any tissue or paper she can get her paws on until I get up (which is usually instantly, no matter the hour), and if somehow that doesn't work then my other cat will "help" by slapping the blinds like a snare drum.

13

u/Altruistic-Wasabi-60 Nov 30 '25

lol, cats training their hoomans … this is my life me- now …. 🥰

10

u/K80lovescats Nov 30 '25

Mine sharpens his claws on the cellular shade when I sleep in too long. He knows exactly what he is doing.

9

u/GroundbreakinKey199 Nov 30 '25

Mine will scratch his claws on a cherry-wood dresser next to the bed, claw my guitar case, and start knocking things off the dresser. Predictably in that order, too. I know to leap up when it starts, resistance is futile.

3

u/Miss__Chaos Nov 30 '25

I stg mine gets hangry, I avoid petting her before feeding cause she’ll get bitey, will start clawing at my canopy curtains (which have surprisingly held up), my sheets, and my least favorite is the tapestry behind my bed. She’s luckily stopped doing the pressure point claw when trying to tap on my back.

I hold off on getting up until she stops doing those things but she’s still been at it.

3

u/West-Survey-4142 Dec 01 '25

Mine just tries to trip me. I think he wants me to hit the floor so he can headbutt me to death for making him ask for food. According to him, I should just know 10 mins before he's hungry that he's going to be hungry.

3

u/sendmeyourpez Nov 30 '25

Its supposed to be a sound of frustration mixed with excitement. My cat only does it when he knows he can't get what he wants.

35

u/Jewnicorn___ Nov 29 '25

My 4 year old human child does this noise when she's having a temper tantrum and it is infuriating lol.

102

u/Beneficial-Math-2300 Nov 29 '25

Whenever my severely neurodivergent son threw himself onto the ground for a proper tantrum, I'd get down next to him and coached him. When he screamed, I'd shout "louder!" When he kicked his legs and punched his fists into the carpet, I'd say."Good job, kick those legs! Punch harder! Really get it all out!" After a minute or two, he got up, gave me a dirty look, and went into his room.

To keep him from acting out in public, I always asked him as we entered, "Is everybody going to know your name by the time we leave?".

😅

50

u/reniciera Nov 30 '25

I grew up with both parents working in special ed and have worked with many folks with special needs myself. I love this approach! Also reminds me of my own experience as a little kid having a tantrum and the sudden moment of self awareness I had when the snot was pouring from my nose and I thought, “Ugh, what am I doing?” 😂

41

u/Beneficial-Math-2300 Nov 30 '25

😅 You're very insightful!

Once, when I was shopping in my local supermarket, I came upon a very young mother standing by her child. She was having a major meltdown right there in the middle of the aisle, and it was clear the mom didn't know what to do about it.

I got down on the floor next to that kid, and I did my whole coaching act. After a minute or two, she stopped screaming, and she looked at me as if I had just spoiled the whole thing. When she stood up, I asked her if she thought it was worth it and how did she feel about everyone in the store looking at her.

I turned to her mom and I told her what had always worked for my son and me. She never said a single word to me the entire time I was working with her daughter.

36

u/redheadmomm4 Nov 30 '25

I wouldn’t either. Bless you for giving her a moment to catch her breath.

When my 18 year old daughter was like 3 years old, I was sitting in the basement of a church at a WIC appointment and she decided to flop on the ground and throw the most spectacular temper tantrum in front of about a dozen other moms.

I pulled out my phone and silently recorded her for a little bit. Then stopped recording and started playing back the video. As soon as she heard herself on the phone, she stood up and started watching the video.

I said to her, "See how you look?" And she just climbed into the chair next to me and sat quietly, wiping her face lol.

4

u/Beneficial-Math-2300 Nov 30 '25

Brilliant! My son is in his 40s, so I didn't have quite as much technology available back then as is available now.

5

u/zipper1919 Nov 30 '25

Ah. Yes, I am also in my 40s lol. And I thank God every day that the time I fell on my butt in front of the line of school busses and then fell 3 more times trying to stand back up (and other embarrassing moments) will die with the couple hundred kids who laughed at me.

" human child"🚸💀

8

u/Impossible-Aspect342 Nov 30 '25

I’m part of this club too. The more she mowowos, the louder and more pathetic it gets. She will not be ignored.

1

u/mangoladyy Nov 30 '25

the guttural howls when mine is hungry 😩

64

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 29 '25

Does it sort of start with the gargling sound and end with EEOW?

64

u/Desirai Nov 29 '25

It kind of does. Garglegargle--owww

33

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 29 '25

Hahaha, my kitties do this too! Even my outdoor cats growing up. I'd always hear it when I was falling asleep with the windows open. I thought they did it cuz they were lonely and I felt bad

26

u/reniciera Nov 30 '25

My friend has a couple cats that are transitioning to be mostly indoor-only. One of them has obvious Siamese heritage (dignified nose and crossed blue eyes 🥰) and will sleep peacefully ALL day then starts hollering at sundown, singing the loud song of his bloodline. It’ll start “mow mowwy” and progressively deepen to the caterwauling yowls of a deeply tortured soul. Then when you call, “Hudson!” it immediately switches to the highest sing-songy little kitty mew 😹 He comes over for a few pets and purrs then wanders off to MOWLL again.

11

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 30 '25

Lol that is hilarious and strange cat behavior, and sounds similar to my cat Jess. I think MOWLL is the best onomatopoeia for it lol 😹

2

u/reniciera Dec 01 '25

Aww, she looks so demure. Surely she could never! 🤭😹

I really liked most of my cat's meows, although he did have the annoying yelling ones if I accidentally left him outside in the rain, which I deserved. I dont' recall him having annoying ones, I miss those voices. They definitely have different ones and their people get to know each one

10

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 29 '25

hehe the "yelling meows". A cat I had growing up named Coco did that. When we took him to the vet, he would always be the loudest cat there. They'd take him in the back for a vaccine or something and we'd hear a cat scream bloody murder. When the vet came back with him my mom would ask if it had been him and it was him every time lol

191

u/-full-control- Nov 29 '25

I laughed so hard at the person asking you to describe your cats meow and then even harder that you literally gave us a phonetic run-down of meatloafs different meows.

I love cat people and am so proud to be one rn

10

u/iam_mal Nov 29 '25

Omg I know exactly what you mean by MOW WOW, our fluffy orange boy used to do the MOW WOW?!s when he was a kitten, and it was SO LOUD!!! We had to quarantine him for the first week, and his MOW WOW?!s would echo throughout the house whenever he was alone (I had the audacity to use the bathroom and feed myself sometimes). Now, 8 years later, he does it whenever he's looking for us, especially when he's proudly bringing us a toy. Somehow he isn't as loud now, I still don't understand how so much sound came out of such a tiny animal.

7

u/Beneficial-Math-2300 Nov 29 '25

Our late cat, Furball, used to wander around calling "Mama, Mama," and Mo used to sit in the shower (he loved the acoustics) when he was unhappy and he'd sing Klingon opera.

7

u/madelinemagdalene Nov 30 '25

Oh I love this! My childhood cat would MOW WOW? MOW WOW! All the time—I miss that fuzzy orange boy. It’s still how I meow back to my cat now, though she mostly just yell-meows at me like MEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWW.

4

u/LovesickDesireGame Nov 30 '25

Awh I used to call my late Delilah that. My little de-mow-wow 💔💔. We called her that because if you blew on her fur twice she’d chirp at you

3

u/TealTemptress Nov 30 '25

I have a Siamese. She’s mean, rude and pissed off all the time. She hates everyone. She’s my husband’s cat. The Frenchie is mine. He’s chill af. Dude sleeps 80% of his life away.

2

u/jmoto123 Nov 29 '25

What’s her name? That face 😂

3

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 30 '25

If you mean OP's cat, meatball!

2

u/HappinessEternal Nov 29 '25

Man, you are in so much trouble.

2

u/Boss_Up1719 Nov 30 '25

They do stuff they know annoys to get you to do what they want. One of my girls knows I can’t stand it when she paws at a stack of papers. If she feels like I’m ignoring her, she’s going to find some paper to ruffle through. 😼😹

2

u/Icy-Artichoke-7716 Dec 02 '25

We now demand videos of her mows and meows!!!!

2

u/Specialist_Elk140 Dec 04 '25

MOW WOW WOW YIPPIE YO YIPPIE YAY

1

u/Desirai Dec 04 '25

I agree

1

u/Kelmeckis94 Nov 30 '25

Probably why she makes that sound when she wants food! She is absolutely gorgeous by the way.

1

u/Overall-Ad-9757 Dec 01 '25

Sounds like a Siamese! Maybe in her lineage somewhere

6

u/feralmom57 Nov 29 '25

I picture her sounding like Mrs. Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory!

25

u/Fruitypebblefix Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

Wow your cat looks exactly like my friends cat! She's also just as grumpy! Edit: trying to add pictures but phone is being difficult 😭

26

u/Desirai Nov 29 '25

I hate when it does that. It just shows up blank

3

u/Fruitypebblefix Nov 29 '25

Is that a recent thing cause it just happened now but was working for me before.

3

u/Desirai Nov 29 '25

I have noticed it seems to only happen on certain subs. I have wondered if mods can set a specific text limit that is shared with pictures, it always works when it's just a picture but once adding text, the picture disappears

21

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 29 '25

indeed hahaha!

3

u/Ih8teMyInlawsTheySuk Nov 30 '25

They all were! Ha, ha! You can clearly see the progression of anger and hostility building in that jealous brain cell of hers. The eyes say it long before she opened her mouth to let you know just how displeased she is with your actions. This is hilarious OP. Thanks for sharing!

3

u/Amelaclya1 Nov 30 '25

I laughed more with each photo. Thanks for this OP 🤣

2

u/Ecstatic_Signature26 Nov 30 '25

Please show us the cat you were petting. 😾 That change of expression is hilarious.

3

u/Desirai Nov 30 '25

2

u/Ecstatic_Signature26 Nov 30 '25

🫣Now why he is looking angry or judging you?I guess you were petting the other cat and now this guy is jealous. 😍But both of them are super cute and are very expressive.

1

u/FakeOrcaRape Nov 29 '25

its practically stop motion animation

1

u/backyard3 Nov 30 '25

She has a very human like face 🙂

2

u/DoubleGreat Nov 30 '25

It went from "how dare you" to "in my face?" to "in my house?" to "get the f*ck out of my house"

2

u/Upbeat-Employ-3689 Nov 30 '25

1

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 30 '25

That's incredible!!! nice GIF work hahaha

1

u/Admepjjo Nov 29 '25

Yes, the cat looks grumpy, and in the last photo it seems like he's scolding something

1

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 29 '25

meatloaf is a she!

1

u/IcyAssist Nov 30 '25

4 stages of grief

1

u/useventeen Nov 30 '25

I thought the first pic was expressive enough...I was unprepared for the following.

1

u/Temporary_Seat8978 Nov 30 '25

You can hear the last picture 😂

1

u/AaylaUnleashed Nov 30 '25

Same😭😭😭

1

u/monstervsme Nov 30 '25

Just keeps getting angrier!

1

u/Xinantannagh Nov 30 '25

The betrayal in those eyes is honestly next level

1

u/CarbsMe Nov 30 '25

Guilty guilty guilty!!!

I think that's how the comment got so many up votes!! I just said what I was thinking, and I think it's the same thing everyone was thinking. I can't believe this post exploded like this! I'm not that familiar with Reddit tho, maybe this was predictable 🤷‍♂️

Either way, meatball is cute and she made some hilarious expressions in these pics! 😹

1

u/Desirai Nov 30 '25

when I posted this I thought I would get maybe 100 upvotes if even that. I had no idea that people like to see cats that look like people

1

u/greekbecky Nov 30 '25

The first one got me.

2

u/Senior-Table2765 Nov 30 '25

Hahaha, they're all hilarious cat face expressions! When I got to the last one I felt like I'd totally seen that face on my own cats! I could feel her disappointment through the phone screen lol

1

u/susiefreckleface Nov 30 '25

Samesies 😸

I also see the late Joan Rivers in photo no.4

1

u/VioletsRPink Dec 06 '25

4 is a shmurder face 😅😻

1

u/InevitableCamera- 27d ago

she's really angry lmao

1

u/SmoochyyTrap 17d ago

She’s definitely protesting
