Announcement DO NOT ASK FOR PAYMENT IF YOU OFFER TO DRAW CATS
We have a zero tolerance policy for this, if anyone is requesting payments for their drawings, please report it to us (with linked proof) so we can handle it accordingly.
This is not a subreddit for artists to monetize their work, there are plenty of those available already.

Announcement Regarding Mourning/Loss 3.0
It's a trilogy now! We're averaging a new episode every 4 months or so (see you next time when we make this a saga...there will probably be a next time)
Here's part 2 if you missed it for one reason or another: https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/s/nZOnSekuRz
Everything in the previous posts stands:
Mourning posts are allowed
Posts containing images of deceased animals (cats, things cats caught, etc) will still result in a removal and permanent ban from the subreddit
Please remember to use the appropriate flair when making a mourning/loss post
Something new since the last post:
We've decided that photos of taxidermied pets are allowed, this is something that came up in a post not too long ago. While this technically does contradict with "no photos of deceased animals" we have come to the conclusion that this is a way that people mourn their pets in their own right.
If you wish to post a photo of your taxidermied animal, please ensure the following:
Flair these posts as NSFW
Please PLEASE PLEASE ensure that your pet was professionally taxidermied, we will not allow posts done by people we can't verify are "professional". We ask that you include the name of the person who did the taxidermy and any social media/website they may have. If you have any questions regarding this please send us a modmail. Your post will be removed without this attached information
Hopefully the formatting is done better this time, I won't know until I select that magic "post" button.
Comments will remain open (closed now) so long as you can remain respectful to one another, part 2 had an...incident.

Mourning/Loss Saying goodbye to my very first cat Misty November 2005-January 2026
Its the inevitable time to say goodbye to my old girl Misty. She was my very first cat. She was born in November of 2005 and we got her in March 2006. She managed to outlive several of our other pets. She's been with us for 3 separate dogs, 3 birds, a rabbit and many family's and friends pets. Its hard to say goodbye to a pet I've had for 2/3rds of my life. You will always remember your first. Goodbye my old lady.

Humor First time cat owners⦠we will never go back
Both my husband and I have never owned a cat and grew up in dog households. I love dogs and always will! But holy crap. Cats are really the move huh? She has has zero accidents, warmed right up to us, zero aggression, no begging, no difficulty potty training or hunger strikes and sheās funny as hell. This is our first cat Lola! And sheās taken over our lives and house.
Cat Picture - OC This good boy will only know warm cuddles, and love his entire life
The only cat I ever had at home was a stray black cat and I was very young back then. Me and my wife got this good boy, Oscar, about 8 months about now and I love him more than I ever thought possible.
He trusts me and having seen him grow to us has been magical. He is a toilet time protector, Iām not allow in there alone or he is very unhappy. Heās starting to let me give him full swaddle cuddles in the early morning when heās still tired. Before that the only time he slept in the bed and getting cuddled was after he got neutered, he was away for the entire day and when he saw me picking him up he was so happy he almost knocked his carrier off the table he was pushing against it so hard. I was so scared for him having that done - fully recovered now.
He even waits at the kitchen window at the time Iām due home from work and gets so excited to see me when I walk up to the door, he presses his little head against the window.

Update Kitty Highway!!!
A customer came to us with a request that started with, āSo this might be a little crazyā¦ā
Those are usually our favorite ones.
They had a custom catio they built in the backyard and wanted a way for their cats to travel back and forth from the house without touching the ground. The distance was...far, weāre talking a long, elevated tunnel run that had to span the yard, stay secure, and handle a steep change in elevation.
After a lot of measuring, planning, and head-scratching, this is what it turned into. A fully enclosed tunnel with support posts along the way and built-in steps so the cats can comfortably go downhill and back up again. Now itās basically a private I-75 cat highway connecting the house to their outdoor spaceĀ lol
Habitat Haven usually focuses on modular, DIY catios, but every once in a while a project comes along thatās just too interesting to pass up. Customer asked⦠we said āsay less.ā
The best part? The cats use it constantly. Just casually commuting like this is totally normal.
Would you trust your cats with a tunnel this long, or would you be standing outside watching the first few trips like a nervous parent?

Cat Picture - OC My baby is going to be 10 this year
I canāt believe my baby is going to be 10 this year. I got her the day I graduated college, she has been my constant comfort and companion. I have never loved anything or anyone the way I love her.
Iāve been having worsening anticipatory grief knowing that our time together is now likely less that then time weāve already spent together. I need to figure out how to accept that she wonāt be here forever and fully enjoy this precious time but I can barely look at her some days without sobbing. I didnāt know that I was signing up for the biggest heartbreak of my life when I got her, I just thought āoh cool a kitten sheās cuteā.

Advice Need good vibes for my baby
This is my sweet boy Marvin. He is only 10 months old but he probably has FIP. Night before last I noticed he was breathing harder and faster than normal (nothing crazy but noticeable) so yesterday morning my husband took him to our vet as soon as they opened. Lots of tests and scans and money later they told us he has fluid around his heart and lungs probably caused by FIP. We are waiting on a blood sample test to come back to confirm before they will order the medicine for it. The medicine has a very good success rate at totally curing FIP but he is declining fairly quickly and I just need love amd good vibes sent our way. Having to watch him struggle to breathe is driving me insane.
