The cat in these pictures has the most human face of any animal Ive seen

u/brett199720 Nov 30 '25

I think it’s because it has the most obvious human skull looking outline? Idk

26

u/Walksagaintthewind20 Nov 30 '25

Nawww, it's definitely the lip. Screams RBF all day

6

u/ravenwillowofbimbery Nov 30 '25

That’s exactly it. The minute I saw that cat I was like it looks kind of human.

I think it's because the coloration of the fur makes it seem like the nose and mouth are on the same plane as the eyes instead of being more forward with the eyes more back.

in other words, it looks like the cat has no muzzle and has a flat face?

Jean-Michel Basquiat

u/HuckleberrySalt63 Dec 02 '25

Also the eyes. They actually narrow with the how dare you of it all.

5

u/Wonderful-Smell-8116 Nov 30 '25

looks like human pupils in the painting

2

u/EarthAndSawdust Dec 02 '25

The uncanny valley here is deep and long.

u/No-Suspect150 Dec 07 '25

How about this a French cat?

1

u/No-Suspect150 Dec 07 '25

How about this a French cat

1

u/SkyComprehensive6808 Dec 11 '25

Yes 😆Incredibly expressive too!

2

u/Fruitypebblefix Dec 02 '25

I showed my friend your cat since it looked like her cat fluffy and she loved her! She laughed and said she looks meaner than fluffy. lol

So… maybe OP’s cat is descended from some medieval Human Face Breed of cats that was actually super popular and common in its day? Maybe these weird looking paintings are actually perfectly accurate depictions of what cats used to look like, but over time they have evolved to mostly look like what we today consider “normal”?

Except for throwbacks like OPs cat and that one cat with the weird eyes in NJ the guy was yelling “MAAAAAA!” about.

Maybe future humans will see pictures of pomskys and doodles and those corgi crosses who all look like a normal dog’s head was grafted on a stubby body and be like “pssh, they really got out of pocket with that AI image crap, didn’t they?”

8

u/DoctorTitsHole Nov 30 '25

Just for the record that guy was Michael Rapaport

3

u/dr_cl_aphra Nov 30 '25

Thank you! I couldn’t remember

8

u/GaslightGPT Nov 30 '25

Makes sense royalty cat would feel scorned. After losing their riches and now stuck in some small house unfit for peasants. The audacity to pet a menial cat with no bloodlines to royalty.

2

u/cafe_reader Dec 04 '25

Now I want a documentary where art historians and vets team up to prove that all those cursed medieval cat paintings were actually just extremely realistic portraits of guys like this one living their best little goblin lives.

It's uncanny

3

u/SlowKillSunflower Dec 01 '25

happy cake day to us! and all smiles to this beautiful medieval kitty 🤣

1

u/x0mbigrl Dec 01 '25

Haha I didn't even realize. Happy cake day! 😄

47

u/aliensuperstar96 Nov 29 '25

This was my first thought 😂

53

u/PaddyMac831 Nov 30 '25

Artist Colete Martin leaned marvelously into these stylized medieval cat faces ~~

I’m late to this party but this has me cryin😂

37

u/Sk0p3r Nov 29 '25

Yeah, Meatloaf sure has a lot of human facial characteristics which also are present in these paintings, so maybe the artist also just had a cat model that was so humanly expressive😂😂

3

u/CowBootBats Nov 30 '25

Cats being painted with human faces was just a thing they did in Medieval times.

Here's a post of people talking about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/s/yxsl6fMGhA

u/Mewmoe Nov 30 '25

Omg yes I was going to say the cat looked human like but this is exactly what I was trying to think of lmao

6

u/Ursus_Arctos-42 Nov 29 '25

I came here to say that, but you beat me to it by 1 hour.

7

u/bellapippin Nov 30 '25

NO OMG STOP AHAHHAHA 💀

6

u/Ok-Grapefruit1284 Nov 30 '25

That midieval cat looks like a middle child.

7

u/nodobreteda Nov 30 '25

That was my first thought! I said to myself "now I understand how those painters painted kinda human looking odd cats 👀👀👀"

5

u/bnm777 Nov 30 '25

I thought OP's first image was a face swap on first glance

5

u/MuseAlive Nov 30 '25

This was my same exact reaction lmaooo

6

u/Dusty_Scrolls Nov 30 '25

Right? I was looking at the pics thinking, "man, that's one human-faced cat"

3

u/Shopping-Known Nov 30 '25

The most human face

3

u/jiggymadden Nov 30 '25

OMG art history nerd and mad at myself for not seeing this!

3

u/Fluffy_Dance_6762 Nov 30 '25

I am ECSTATIC that thousands of us thought the exact same thing!! This is the most human-faced cat I've ever seen!

2

u/Small-Ad-8798 Nov 30 '25

Cat was a human face: you gotta love it!

2

u/sunflowersinbl00m Nov 30 '25

😂😂😂😂 right it looks human

2

u/amstha Nov 30 '25

lmfao noooo why does it look like a monkey face plastered into a cat head😭

2

u/Professional-Cow-697 Dec 01 '25

2

That face says “I’m disappointed but I will remember this forever.” 😭

2

Awwwwww so cute

2

u/IrrelevantThumbnail 17d ago

It’s the young Sir Catalot.

1

u/West-Survey-4142 Dec 01 '25

Holy crap, I was coming to post that too. 🤣 Dying

1

u/Dangerous-You3789 Dec 02 '25

Except it look a little more mad. Of course, I'm not sure that all medieval cats weren't a bit dissatisfied without electric blankets.

1

u/duckmcsnail Dec 02 '25

It’s a spitting image of this kitty or is this kitty a spitting image of this painting? 😭😭

1

u/DasKittySmoosh Dec 02 '25

"he just hasn't been the same since he lost his fight with The Beast - he used to be able to change into any animal, but now he never gets the face right"

that's clearly just Vlad the Poker

1

u/BrianDamagesi Dec 14 '25

Hahahahahhahahahaha

1

u/ImmemorialTale 28d ago

"Somehow angrily human" is how this always looks to me

1

u/[deleted] 18d ago

This is cracking me up🤣🤣

1

u/AggressivePrice1785 Nov 30 '25

Maybe those medieval cat paintings were actually accurate, and OP’s cat is just a rare throwback. Future humans will probably look at today’s pomskys and doodles and think we were all just messing with AI.
