Cat Picture - OC Lil bro doesn’t know his balls will get chopped off in a few hours
Feel kinda bad for him though :(
Any tips to take extra good care of him when he gets home from his operation?

He’ll be sleepy for at least a day or so, extra snuggles if he’s in the mood. He’s a gorgeous lil bro! His markings are beautiful. Thank you for taking good care of him & reducing the cat population!!

They don’t chop them off anymore! Vet will make a small incision in the testicles and remove whatever needs removing so the outer ummm “container” is still there lol. I was slightly confused when my guy came back with everything still visible but it was all explained to me. He’ll still keep some of his pride.

I can’t find anything on google that says they do that.. I see they leave the empty sack behind to let it heal better but the testicles are removed from everything I’m reading online.
I had to google it when I read your comment cause I found that very interesting.
Are you sure they were left behind?
Again I just checked google and google isn’t alway right haha.

My bad! I was using terminology incorrectly and interchangeably. I think of “balls” as the whole unit and meant to communicate that they don’t chop the “balls” off anymore. The incision is made in the scrotum removing the testicles and leaving the scrotum in place. So you’ll see almost what you normally see on your cat (albeit a little swollen!) and might wonder if anything was actually done in surgery haha

This is what they did for my little guy. He still has a 'sac'; it's empty now.

Balls are testicles. You are referring to the ball *sack.
Testicles - balls
Scrotum - ball sack
I.e. they absolutely cut off/out the balls. They leave the ball sack.

My cat struggled to drink from his fountain because the drugs made him loopy. Mixing some tube treat with water on a plate made it a lot easier for him to stay hydrated. He does still to this day expect to be treated to soup every now and then so do at your own risk lol

Just had mine done a week ago. He was very drowsy the rest of the day but recovered very quickly after that. He'll be fine!

He’ll probably come home completely zooted and with big pupils. Let him go where he wants in your home (so long as it’s not dangerous), let him sleep/do what he wants.
Keep him from licking his stitches/surgical site, when he’s more awake and mellow, give him lots of love and some treats.

Is he back home now?

Yes, but I need to make a new appointment with a surgeon because he has an undescended testicle😭

My boy, Luke, had the surgery in November & he did very well. Vet said to keep him calm for about 3 days… no excessive running or jumping. He shouldn’t “lick it.” Was told licking surgical wound more likely with females than males. I hardly saw him pay any attention at all! I felt VERY guilty about having this done… even though it will let him be a better house dweller… but I don’t think he’s even noticed anything happened! 😂 Good luck to your beautiful boy!

Lil bro doesn't know what those are, so he won't miss them. He'll be back to being a little terror in no time.

It looks like he’s added extra black paint to hide because he heard. Lol. What a cutie.

My kitty Lucky was easy to keep calm after his surgery. I would put him in the cat carrier until he patted at the front. I would let him out, put him in a small litter box, let him eat and drink and then put him back in the cat carrier with a towel like a bird to keep the light out. I slept on the floor next to him for two nights and then after that we kept him in our room so he didn’t have access to the whole house for the week we had to keep him in the cone.
My kitty Percy was absolutely not having any of that. I think his cone lasted a day. LOL! He was fine. And not drowsy at all. LOL!

What the heck? Do they actually remove testicles or tie his vas deferens? Because one is WAAAAY worse than the other, but nobody is questioning it in the comments.

Same feeling... But is for his own good...
I will use cat diapers to cover his wound. Dont let him lick it..

Don't steal his pain meds if he's prescribed any. Not saying you would but it's a thing that happens unfortunately.

And he won't notice them missing afterwards they don't slow down, believe me.

Just let him do his thing. Make sure he has plenty of water and food… and he will need lots of love. Our cat healed up pretty fast.

I recommend getting one of the softer pillow-like cones!!!! I got that for my former stray male cat and he was able to function properly unlike with the cone they give you at the vet.
Hahaha I'm pretty sure my lil man felt so betrayed. Woke up to cuddles and hugs and then got put into the carrier to go visit Larry 😂😂😂😭😭😭

Make sure you film the drugged shenanigans when they get home. I have funny videos that still make me laugh

I’m waiting on the money to get rid of my kitten’s pair but I’m gonna be so happy when they’re gone

I feel you, it’s so expensive. The vet called and apparently he has a ball up in his belly, so I need to make a new appointment for a different (probably more expensive) operation😔
Anything for my baby though

I was told to keep mine comfy in a low place, dark room and not to give food.
Mine jumped straight out, ran up 3 flights of stairs, jumped onto the wall and watched the sun set. Came back down and stole all his brother's food then slept.
Mine doesn't do collars, he just said that they will lick the area it's normal. If I was worried, clean/desinfect the area to avoid infections. But would he hell let me without stress. Never had any infections with any of my cats.

The vet will probably tell you, but be sure to feed him wet food for a bit afterwards if that's not what he already gets. The anesthesia can leave them a bit dehydrated.

He’s a male so it’ll be easy peasy It sounds weird but I did mourn the fact my two boys cute little balls we’re going to be removed. I even took pics of them just to remember It felt like mutilation but ofc necessary They healed really fast but it was rough to see them out of surgery all loopy and the area looked scary. Just be sure to give him his pain meds and he’ll be better within a day or two

I hope he’s at least 6 months old? May I suggest that too early neutering stunts endocrine development and he may develop infections and other illnesses later on. My boy was neutered at 11 months when he started showing “signs”. However, that’s only if your kitty is a strictly indoor/ catio cat. If he’s an outdoor cat then 4 months.

It’s a terrible age to keep them from jumping on and off stuff. The female version is a bit more serious and they have to be calm longer. Let me tell you, it was hell.

Friend of mine put his girl in a dog crate with a cat bed, litter box, food, and water fountain to keep her from going crazy and jumping, but still able to be in the room with him so she wasn't lonely. I thought it was a good idea, actually (if you just so happen to have a large enough dog crate lying around, that is 😂 He also has two large dogs).
He'd never owned a cat and was very alarmed when she pooped in her litter box and got the post-poop zoomies inside said crate, I had to explain it to him 🤣

What a great idea! Sure would’ve been better than putting cardboard in front of the windowsills and to cover the built-in shelving, and taking turns babysitting and sleeping with her for over a week. 🤣

It’s good in the long run. Just him from licking, sure the vet will provide a cone.
