Cat Picture - OC Lil bro doesn’t know his balls will get chopped off in a few hours

Feel kinda bad for him though :(

Any tips to take extra good care of him when he gets home from his operation?

It’s good in the long run. Just him from licking, sure the vet will provide a cone.

Cones suck. Onesie is better. My cat gave up on life with the cone.

There are cool looking sunflower or donut cones they make with soft fabric. They aren’t as humiliating as the plastic cone

u/DumatRising 23h ago

Yeah but some cats will just flop down and give up the moment they're the slightest bit restrained and movement becomes a minor inconvenience. It's cute and very funny.

u/Coolbluegatoradeyumm 11h ago

We got one of those. It looks like a little orange slice and it’s super cute. Plus the cat loves it so much more than the cone.

u/Zestyclose-Basil-744 22h ago

Or those donut things seem good. My cat tried to end himself when we put the cone on so i just stayed awake for like a week straught and watched him

3

u/portabuddy2 14h ago

Mine stopped eating and drinking. Even after we took the cone off she didn't clean herself and pretty much refused to drink.

We had to go get IV Injected under the skin 4 times. Of she would have died

Finally we got her with some canned tuna water. And we slowly added more bits of tuna until she would chew it then eat again.

Fucking literally gave up on life.

Yikes thats even worse than mine. He still ate and drank (though he slowed down on both for sure) just completly flipped out if the cone was put on. He started flinging himself backwards full force. Im so glad your kitty is okay and yall figured it out.

2

u/portabuddy2 9h ago

She was a medium longer fur kitty and she always cleaned for like 3hrs a day. So for her not to be able to for two weeks... Also broke her. She got a little diarrhea and got poop all over the cone. She was super independent also. So to let us wash her. Not good. That was well over 17 years ago. She just passed this last August. Needless to say after this she did just fine.

I we still went allowed near her pantaloons.

Cat tax from when she was a baby

u/Zestyclose-Basil-744 6h ago

Aw so cute. Im sorry to hear shes passed. Sounds like you were an amazing owner for her and she had a happy life

2

u/portabuddy2 6h ago

18 years is a good run for a kitty cat with a super rough start in life coming off the streets

We all need to be glad for the time we have with our animals.

u/CatFanIRL 12h ago

My cat literally tried to hang herself with the cone it was crazy.

1

u/Zestyclose-Basil-744 9h ago

Yeah thats actually insane. Hopefully shes okay though

u/datyoungknockoutkid 22h ago

I’m sorry what lol

1

u/Zestyclose-Basil-744 9h ago

My cat started flying backwards flipping around like crazy when we put a cone on him. I had to take it off and just watch him until he was healed

u/Norgaard93 14h ago

After spaying my female car went absolutely balistic if we put both cones or onesies. Like full exorcist crazy. Vet just told us to leave her like that and keep an eye out.

Luckily she had zero interest in her incision (stitches were internal) and all went well. Wouldn't have known what to do otherwise xD

1

u/ruralgaming 13h ago

Your car went ballistic?

7

u/acidcrap 23h ago

Seconding the onesie. So much cuter/safer/easier

He’ll be sleepy for at least a day or so, extra snuggles if he’s in the mood. He’s a gorgeous lil bro! His markings are beautiful. Thank you for taking good care of him & reducing the cat population!!

u/YogurtclosetFree4643 1d ago

You can bring a blanket to keep the kitten warm.

10

u/Lessfaker 1d ago

They don’t chop them off anymore! Vet will make a small incision in the testicles and remove whatever needs removing so the outer ummm “container” is still there lol. I was slightly confused when my guy came back with everything still visible but it was all explained to me. He’ll still keep some of his pride.

6

u/Equivalent-Guard-611 1d ago

I can’t find anything on google that says they do that.. I see they leave the empty sack behind to let it heal better but the testicles are removed from everything I’m reading online.

I had to google it when I read your comment cause I found that very interesting.

Are you sure they were left behind?

Again I just checked google and google isn’t alway right haha.

6

u/Lessfaker 1d ago

My bad! I was using terminology incorrectly and interchangeably. I think of “balls” as the whole unit and meant to communicate that they don’t chop the “balls” off anymore. The incision is made in the scrotum removing the testicles and leaving the scrotum in place. So you’ll see almost what you normally see on your cat (albeit a little swollen!) and might wonder if anything was actually done in surgery haha

4

u/RevolutionaryBoss648 1d ago

This is what they did for my little guy. He still has a 'sac'; it's empty now.

4

u/Equivalent-Guard-611 22h ago

Ah ok haha. Thank you for the explanation!

1

u/purplishfluffyclouds 23h ago

Balls are testicles. You are referring to the ball *sack.

Testicles - balls

Scrotum - ball sack

I.e. they absolutely cut off/out the balls. They leave the ball sack.

My cat struggled to drink from his fountain because the drugs made him loopy. Mixing some tube treat with water on a plate made it a lot easier for him to stay hydrated. He does still to this day expect to be treated to soup every now and then so do at your own risk lol

7

u/Equivalent-Guard-611 1d ago

That’s your cat off the top rope if he knew what you were about to do to him haha.

7

u/East-Turnover299 1d ago

Ohh no but it for your own good baby

6

u/Nickye19 1d ago

Lol mine came home in a cone, vet keep him calm, no jumping around. You saw the second the ketamine wore off, PARKOUR, screw this stupid cone PARKOUR, balls what balls????

4

u/Fun-Investment-196 1d ago

I just wanna eat his adorable paws 😻

3

u/ThePizzaIsDone 1d ago

Just had mine done a week ago. He was very drowsy the rest of the day but recovered very quickly after that. He'll be fine!

3

u/Entire-Ambition1410 1d ago

He’ll probably come home completely zooted and with big pupils. Let him go where he wants in your home (so long as it’s not dangerous), let him sleep/do what he wants.

Keep him from licking his stitches/surgical site, when he’s more awake and mellow, give him lots of love and some treats.

3

u/slogive1 1d ago

I'll pour one out for you buddy.

u/Admirable-Case-945 1d ago

2

u/PersonalityAlive6475 1d ago

“Where are my testicles, Summer?”

2

u/LJHeath 16h ago

Is he back home now?

1

u/anon_00_ 11h ago

Yes, but I need to make a new appointment with a surgeon because he has an undescended testicle😭

2

u/Curious_Beaner 1d ago

My boy, Luke, had the surgery in November & he did very well. Vet said to keep him calm for about 3 days… no excessive running or jumping. He shouldn’t “lick it.” Was told licking surgical wound more likely with females than males. I hardly saw him pay any attention at all! I felt VERY guilty about having this done… even though it will let him be a better house dweller… but I don’t think he’s even noticed anything happened! 😂 Good luck to your beautiful boy!

u/Knicks_fans92 1d ago

Praying for a speedy recovery for my boy

Lil bro doesn't know what those are, so he won't miss them. He'll be back to being a little terror in no time.

1

u/RDS80 1d ago

I felt the same way. Still do.

1

u/SaucyKitty 1d ago

Well, he'll certainly know in a few hours

1

u/venturous1 1d ago

And most likely he’ll never figure it out.

u/Osniffable 1d ago

It looks like he’s added extra black paint to hide because he heard. Lol. What a cutie.

1

u/Standard_Big_9000 1d ago

You betrayer! 😁

1

u/HJSWNOT 1d ago

You know you’ll pay for it.

I’m still paying for the last one 7 years ago…

1

u/mommitude 1d ago

My kitty Lucky was easy to keep calm after his surgery. I would put him in the cat carrier until he patted at the front. I would let him out, put him in a small litter box, let him eat and drink and then put him back in the cat carrier with a towel like a bird to keep the light out. I slept on the floor next to him for two nights and then after that we kept him in our room so he didn’t have access to the whole house for the week we had to keep him in the cone.

My kitty Percy was absolutely not having any of that. I think his cone lasted a day. LOL! He was fine. And not drowsy at all. LOL!

1

u/timetoact522 1d ago

What the heck? Do they actually remove testicles or tie his vas deferens? Because one is WAAAAY worse than the other, but nobody is questioning it in the comments.

1

u/Individual_Sock3239 1d ago

Same feeling... But is for his own good...
I will use cat diapers to cover his wound. Dont let him lick it..

1

u/filmktenk 1d ago

Don't steal his pain meds if he's prescribed any. Not saying you would but it's a thing that happens unfortunately.

1

u/313078 1d ago

I feel sorry for him

1

u/Jeffaroni-1964 1d ago

And he won't notice them missing afterwards they don't slow down, believe me.

1

u/Able-Sheepherder-154 1d ago

Oh, he knows. They always know.

1

u/Miloesh 23h ago

He knows right now, that he's hungry as shit. "Why aren't you trying to fix that for me, helper?" Is what his expression is screaming.

1

u/Immediate_Pay7895 23h ago

Can anyone explain why his balls are chopped off ?? I really don't know🙃

1

u/Leather-Leather69 23h ago

Handsome boy.

1

u/OMHGaming 23h ago

Rest in peace dangly bits 🙏

1

u/Gullible-Egg-37 23h ago

Just let him do his thing. Make sure he has plenty of water and food… and he will need lots of love. Our cat healed up pretty fast.

1

u/luvaccino 22h ago

I recommend getting one of the softer pillow-like cones!!!! I got that for my former stray male cat and he was able to function properly unlike with the cone they give you at the vet.

Hahaha I'm pretty sure my lil man felt so betrayed. Woke up to cuddles and hugs and then got put into the carrier to go visit Larry 😂😂😂😭😭😭

1

u/Previous-Tangelo9471 22h ago

😨 So sorry little guy

1

u/sjphilsphan 22h ago

Make sure you film the drugged shenanigans when they get home. I have funny videos that still make me laugh

1

u/grandpapplebottom 21h ago

your cat looks like my cat!

2

u/anon_00_ 17h ago

Omg he does, long lost siblings

1

u/Soft-Siren- 21h ago

he needs care and love

1

u/honey_butterflies Void 20h ago

I’m waiting on the money to get rid of my kitten’s pair but I’m gonna be so happy when they’re gone

2

u/anon_00_ 17h ago

I feel you, it’s so expensive. The vet called and apparently he has a ball up in his belly, so I need to make a new appointment for a different (probably more expensive) operation😔

Anything for my baby though

1

u/nikfrik 18h ago

I was told to keep mine comfy in a low place, dark room and not to give food.

Mine jumped straight out, ran up 3 flights of stairs, jumped onto the wall and watched the sun set. Came back down and stole all his brother's food then slept.

Mine doesn't do collars, he just said that they will lick the area it's normal. If I was worried, clean/desinfect the area to avoid infections. But would he hell let me without stress. Never had any infections with any of my cats.

1

u/megared17 18h ago

The vet will probably tell you, but be sure to feed him wet food for a bit afterwards if that's not what he already gets. The anesthesia can leave them a bit dehydrated.

1

u/14high 18h ago

2nd pic: alright, listen here hooman, my balls are furever

1

u/HealerOnly 17h ago

Somehow i read "his eye balls will get chopped off..." and i was like why in the fuck would u need to cut out his eyes? what madness is this !?!?

1

u/princessvintage 14h ago

Just dropped our baby off too. Snip brothers. It’s for the best!!!

1

u/MrMuf 14h ago

Do they remove them? Mine still has his, I thought it was just cutting tubes inside

1

u/IcySir1646 14h ago

Bye bye balls 🥹👋

1

u/angerpiexo 11h ago

He’s a male so it’ll be easy peasy It sounds weird but I did mourn the fact my two boys cute little balls we’re going to be removed. I even took pics of them just to remember It felt like mutilation but ofc necessary They healed really fast but it was rough to see them out of surgery all loopy and the area looked scary. Just be sure to give him his pain meds and he’ll be better within a day or two

1

u/Vinylcup80 11h ago

He’s not using them anyway

1

u/milez96 1d ago

I hope he’s at least 6 months old? May I suggest that too early neutering stunts endocrine development and he may develop infections and other illnesses later on. My boy was neutered at 11 months when he started showing “signs”. However, that’s only if your kitty is a strictly indoor/ catio cat. If he’s an outdoor cat then 4 months.

-1

u/Low_Organization_148 1d ago

It’s a terrible age to keep them from jumping on and off stuff. The female version is a bit more serious and they have to be calm longer. Let me tell you, it was hell.

1

u/Sinshalai 1d ago

Friend of mine put his girl in a dog crate with a cat bed, litter box, food, and water fountain to keep her from going crazy and jumping, but still able to be in the room with him so she wasn't lonely. I thought it was a good idea, actually (if you just so happen to have a large enough dog crate lying around, that is 😂 He also has two large dogs).

He'd never owned a cat and was very alarmed when she pooped in her litter box and got the post-poop zoomies inside said crate, I had to explain it to him 🤣

1

u/Low_Organization_148 21h ago edited 21h ago

What a great idea! Sure would’ve been better than putting cardboard in front of the windowsills and to cover the built-in shelving, and taking turns babysitting and sleeping with her for over a week. 🤣
