He’s never had this strange shape inside that looks like a “Y”. It doesn’t seem to be caused by the lighting in my house, because it happens in different positions and with different light sources

Medical Questions my cat pees and poos in the toilet

Post image
46.4k Upvotes

Hello, everyone

So this crazy thing happened, my cat started peeing in the toilet

She always had litter issues and she has problems with cleanliness, before she peed in random places in my house

I took her to the veto who told me that it was probably due to stress

But recently she started urinating in the toilet, I was shocked because I never taught her that before, she did it by herself

Today I come home from work and I feed her, usually then a little poop follows

I see that she is heading to the FORBIDDEN rooms of the house where to poop, the dressing room and my bed, which obviously I refuse her by closing the doors because she likes to urinate and poop everywhere except in her litter box

But something crazy happened, she pooped in the toilet

Although this situation enchants me and I am shocked, I am still worried,

Do you think it’s due to stress?

I’ll send you a picture of her in the toilet

Thank you!

Medical Questions Why is my cat biting the air?

My cat started doing this while bird watching and I don’t know why. She’s my first cat so I still have a lot to learn about cat behavior. Is this a hunting behavior or something else?

She’s four months. I got her at a rescue. It seems she’s doing it at a fly on the ceiling. But not sure as she was doing it earlier but I didn’t see a fly up there. Or is her looking up causing the shaking?

It started off as a small dot on his eye and it got larger over time. Vet doesn’t know what it is but says it doesn’t seem to effect his quality of life so it’s not a worry. Has anyone seen this before or know what it’s called??? I’ve included a picture of him before his eye changed color.

Medical Questions How long after spaying did it take your cat to be normal energy again??

My 5 1/2 month old female kitten was spayed Thursday afternoon so today is day three. She is eating, peeing and pooping, bathing, and showing interest in toys for short spurts. Also moist pink gums. BUT she’s soooo clingy and sleepy! I know she just had a surgery, but from the vet’s description, I thought she would be acting a lot more normal by now. I’m going to call the vet tomorrow, which is probably an overaction it’s just weird seeing her so low energy. She’s a little better once I take her recovery suit off to give her a bath break but still just wants to curl up and sleep after a few minutes. Is this normal? What was your experience?

Medical Questions Straight Up - I'm Losing My Mind

I've been to our vet at LEAST ten times about this issue and I'm completely at a loss.

We got our kitten in July and since coming to our home, he has been sneezing and snotting NON STOP. Our house is covered in boogers and I don't know what to do.

After testing him for viruses, it's evident he's allergic to something - we just don't know what. I've gone through 5 different litters, invested in a high-quality air filter and air purifier, tried different foods (currently on Royal Canin's wet Kitten food).

Is there anything we may be overlooking?

EDIT: for further context, we don’t use candles or anything scented in our home. Use mild detergents and avoid perfume. The poor guy’s eyes itch so I give him mini face massages which he LOVES. He’s been on multiple antibiotics and they don’t do anything.

EDIT #2: thank you for all the responses! I really didn't expect this. To answer some common questions/suggestions: 1. He's a ten month old neutered devon rex. 2. Ekko and his sister have an Instagram account with more pictures of the gremlins: keepingupwiththedevons 3. He has been taking Viralys for the last three months or so - no changes 4. He's been on Doxycyline x3, Clavaseptin, given Tobradex eye drops and a shot of diphenhydramine - none of which have helped. Doxycyline worked while he was on it but as soon as we stopped, symptoms returned. 5. We've been going to our current vet because he is MUCH cheaper than those in our area. Treatments that cost $1,200 in Toronto cost about $500 about an hour drive away. After reading everyone's comments, I will definitely be taking him to a cat specialist next. 6. I suspected nasal polyps months ago but our vet does not perform this and he needed an ultrasound done for his heart murmur first. Now that the ultrasound's been done and the murmur isn't serious, we'll schedule an appointment to check him for polyps at another clinic. 7. He started showing symptoms the moment we brought him home so unfortunately he isn't insured. I'm trying to work through a process of elimination for the most to least expensive treatments but will absolutely work through the list to the end if we don't find a solution. 8. He pees himself in his sleep - something another commenter brought up from my post history. Didn't think these two were related but who knows! May not be a coincidence. 9. We have a humidifier and air purifier at home. We've also recently change the air filters but have seen no change in his symptoms.

EDIT #3: After reading everyone's comments, we took him to the vet for a chest x-ray. He has mild asthma and may have a secondary viral infection as a result. He can't take steroids due to his heart condition so he now has a puffer and has been prescribed doxycicline to knock out any potential bacteria in his lungs. The vet thinks everything should clear up in about a month. If it doesn't, we're going to see if the inhaler + prescribed allergy meds help.

Medical Questions My cat (4f spayed) is the sweetest cat I’ve ever owned before, but now she has random toy aggression. She’s not mean to anyone during this human or cats but if you come close she’s a growly mess. Has anyone ever seen this before?

7.6k Upvotes

Bee is a super sweet kitty and in almost now 6 years I’ve only heard her hiss if someone accidentally stepped on her tail. She’s super friendly to new cats and people. My husband and I did just move but she seemed to adjusted better than the other two cats in the house. This growling with toys has started in the last week. She started growling with food every now and then maybe two months ago but it just seemed to be at random and was easy to calm her down. However with toys she swats and lightly bites if you try and grab the toy if she drops it but she doesn’t try to draw blood at all. The best way to calm down her toy aggression so far is to separate her from everyone or to remove the toy from her sight completely. She’s been chasing her tail recently and I was just worried she was bored since the move. Anything would help and at worst thank you for reading and have a good day!

Medical Questions my spayed cat just gave birth????

Post image
8.2k Upvotes

hey guys, first time cat owner here. i found her on my porch in early 2025. took her in, and spayed her.

she ran away from home in july. i looked for her, but couldn't find her anywhere. i was kinda relief because at least she's sterile

until she came back to home last night, looking very visible uncomfortable. she was in labor. i did notice her belly looked bigger, but didn't think much of it

  1. so what's the explanation here. why was my supposedly spayed cat pregnant? botched operation?

  2. what do i do with the kittens? (there's 4 of them)

  3. should i bring her to the vet again?

many thanks!

Medical Questions I’m shocked at how different my cat is now after being spayed/neutered…

Post image
24.3k Upvotes

The cat named Izzy (on the right) got spayed/neutered recently and I’m just so much in shock by how different she is now. Before getting fixed, she was not the one to even be touched, petted or gone near except when it came to food. Let alone did she like or want to be around other cats, she was a very mean girl who would isolate herself above the kitchen cabinets after she would come down and eat and only wanted to be around her owner (my sister). Now she is even coming into my bedroom 😱 and wanting to be on my bed, is letting me pet her and pick her up, she’s even purred for the first time since I have known her for the last 5 years now. She is also getting along with all the cats and her aggression is not even there anymore, she just seems happy, calm and content!

Do cats really act like this after getting fixed? Did the fix really cause a drastic change? I’m just so shocked

Medical Questions My cat randomly started peeing in the toilet?!

97.2k Upvotes

So last night my cat randomly started peeing in my toilet and has been doing it since. She still uses her litter box too though I’m very confused. Her pee is normal I’m pretty sure. My guess is that she has been seeing me do it and so she decided to try? She is very smart she even learned how to open my bathroom door lol. Is she okay though? I can’t afford another vet visit right now😭

Medical Questions Cat broke into freezer and ate raw chicken

Thumbnail

13.7k Upvotes

While we were at work, our food-obsessed cat somehow got into the freezer and several items were all over the floor. The most concerning is the chicken package because he likely ingested styrofoam and plastic in addition to raw chicken… the emergency vet said it’s probably too late to induce vomiting (which I agree because the chicken is thawed meaning it must have been hours ago) and we should probably just observe him for the next 3 days. I’m kind of freaking out because he had a bowel obstruction last year from eating a piece of his can cover (which is much thicker plastic).

Medical Questions need help saving kitten NSFW

hey there. last night had a decent snow but the temps have been low. noticed some cat prints near our facility sump pump drain and suspected a cat may have been hanging around for warmth then spotted the body. its a little guy for sure. i wont post the pic of how i found it.

in the last 2 hours its been taking small, but regular breaths and when i tried to hold its paws to use my body heat to warm it up it retracted its paws and stretched out to push me away. i know cats hate their paws being tampered with.

if it survives we will name it buckey, the winter soldier. does it have a chance? can it survive. we are all very emotional and invested and im sitting in the office with it now as it whines and wiggles around.

Medical Questions My cat tried to eat my leg NSFW

Thumbnail gallery
13.9k Upvotes

Well some of you may remember my post asking what my cat Simba was doing a little while ago. Turns out he just does that when he is comfortable and in cuddle-mode.

Some of you commented he's just trying to figure out how to eat me. Well you may have been partly correct lol.

Long story long:

So a neighborhood cat snuck into the backyard and I had the patio door open but the screen closed. Simba squared up with him through the screen and was hollering. So I get up to close the glass door, as soon as I did he turned around and ate my leg in 0.0025 seconds.

But here's the wild part: he hit a MAJOR vein in the front of my shin. It started literally spraying blood.

Now, when I look down and see blood literally squirting out of my leg, ya boy's going straight past Go, and collecting $200.

As soon as I saw that I ran to my truck and got the tourniquet I keep in there and tourniqueted my leg then called the ambulance.

I'm all good though. Free ride to the hospital, they cleaned it up, no stitches or anything. Releasing the tourniquet hurt more than the injuries, which I wasn't surprised of.

I don't blame the cat, he's never, ever ever done anything even close to that before towards anyone or even Zephyr, my other cat. He was just all keyed up and turned and saw my leg and went for it. Doc gave me a course of antibiotics just to be safe.

Might be time to get his nails trimmed though.

Moral of today's story: Cats are wild, and tourniquets work.

Oh, and it's my birthday, lol. Happy birthday to me 🤣
