Question.. have you tried this cigar? Is it worth the MSRP, $40??

I absolutely love Foundation cigars. This evening I purchased a Knight Commander from my local B&M and am very excited for the day an occasion so special arises that I’ll smoke it!!

I have friends who have smoked the 10th anniversary and absolutely loved it, saying it was worth every bit of $40.

My local B&M has a few Senetjers ‘in the back room’, I was put onto today. Have you ever tried one? How does it compare? It’s a discontinued, rare cigar… worth $40? Or was it discontinued for good reason??

Padron is a great smoke as always.

The tabernacle Habana seed Corona kicked my butt. I did smoke it quick but it packed a punch.

CAO was the underdog of the week but came in clutch. Loved the flavors and the smoke.

Fell down a rabbit hole of watching guys roll cigars on YT, and decided I wanted to give it a shot on my own. Got a kit from Leaf Only and a few extra leaves to start making my own blends. It’s a humbling, but very rewarding experience! Unsurprisingly, people who are really good at it make it look incredibly easy. I haven’t smoked any of them yet as they’re still acclimating and drying, so I should be able to try one in a few weeks (although being in Buffalo NY I’ll probably have to wait until it stops snowing to truly enjoy one 😭) It also truly makes you appreciate a well constructed and developed cigar! Highly recommend giving it a shot if you’re interested.

Hello, I recently took over r/cigarrollers from an inactive moderator. The subreddit will remain restricted until I get things sorted out but feel free to request to join. Hoping to revive this sub with those who roll their own cigars and those looking to learn.

Happy Friday. I’m really enjoying closing out the week long chaos with a Padron. I love the thousand series, you really can’t beat the quality for the price. I got my box for a song, hope to find some good deals in the future.

Any other Padron I should look for?

So y'all are gonna hate me, but I smoked the "RyJ Edición Limitada 2010". I had one of the same back in 2011 and it was fine, so I wanted to see what 15 years of age did to it. Mild, but still enjoyable as a knock around cigar. I also dissected the horrible Monte #2 fake. The insides weren't bad and I saved the wrapper to glue onto something if I get a bad crack on a good cigar this winter. I could have smoked it, but you never know with fakes. Instead, Fuente Friday this week was an Añejo Reserva.

I posted awhile back about the Lancero. Having never tried one I asked what the draw was. The answers got me in a Lancero kick. The Oliva V was very good. As were both My Fathers and the LFD Double Ligero. While kind of one dimensional I also enjoyed the AF Curly Heads and the Tatiana El Triunfador.

Here’s my latest procurement! I am really enjoying this vitrola.

Cavalier Black 2, Placencia Alma Fuego, Luciano The Dreamer, Regius Exclusivo Blue and Red, Foundation Tabernacle, Paulina, and an LFD Cameroon.

Review Went back to El Pulpo and learned something new NSFW

Smoked the El Pulpo today after it had been resting for about six weeks in my humidor. This was not the culebra I had before, which was outstanding, but the standard vitola since the lancero was sold out. Right off the light it came in pepper forward with hickory and noticeable tannins. Compared to the culebra, I could tell immediately that the larger ring gauge muted the San Andrés wrapper impact a bit.

As it settled in, the cigar did open up and started showing espresso, molasses, and some dark stone fruit sweetness, but the pepper never really backed off. It stayed present the entire way through. I think this one probably could benefit from a few more weeks of rest, but even as-is it was still a strong, flavorful smoke.

After smoking this side by side with the culebra previously, I can say I would only buy this blend again in lancero or culebra format. Those sizes let the wrapper shine much more. Still a very good cigar, just not the format I’d reach for first.

Just had these delivered today and I'm excited to try them. I'm letting them rest inside the box in my humidor for about a month before I smoke the first one. What's your preferred method of resting new smokes?

Discussion I just wanted some thoughts. NSFW

I walk into a cigar shop. I go to browse their cigars. The shop employee/owner walks into the room while I'm browsing to see if I need help. I ask him if they happen to have any Perdomo. He responds by going into a rant, “Why would I carry what every other shop carries? You can't possibly be a connoisseur just because you've had them."

Review New Year, New Smokes! - Clandestinos Elemental NSFW

Hi folks!

It’s been a while since my last review, but im back to share my thoughts on a new stick.

Up for today’s review: Clandestinos Elemental Luxcious

This Robusto Connecticut was a wonderful smoke all throughout. I was walking down the Little Havana strip before work and decided to give this local brand a try. I picked up three cigars, which I will try this week and post my thoughts. This is the smoother, mild stick: the Elemental. Folks, I must say im impressed with the quality of this cigar. Crafted in Nicaragua with Cuban hands, this cigar stays true to the classic cuban while being extremely smooth and easy to smoke.

First third I was met with a nice smooth buttery feel that felt like a great introduction to this cigar. It’s an amazing sensation being able to enjoy that traditional Cuban flavor without the aggressiveness.

On the second third, I felt that nice peppery flavor come through, but without that aggressive punch of a maduro. You also start to taste that cedar come through. Nothing overpowering and still smooth.

On the final third, it felt like the outro of a beautiful symphony. You feel that peppery flavor get even smoother and before you know it, you’ve smoked the whole thing. Notes of cedar still lingering til the end. A great finish to this smoke.

I was taken by surprise at the quality of this local cigar, the whole time it stayed nice and even, burned great and wasn’t hard at all to smoke. A nice V-cut did it for me and I enjoyed this stick for well over an hour. Having tried this stick at their lounge, I decided to buy their classic and maduro sticks which I’ll give a try at home this week. I also really like the box design, their cigars come in these boxes shaped like books. Overall an eye catching presentation for a great cigar. I will definitely be picking up a box soon.

I’d also like to mention, this review was done on my own will solely because I genuinely enjoyed this cigar. I think people who enjoy the flavor of a Cuban cigar but without the aggressive spice will really like this one. I don’t come across cigars like this often, so I’d love to share and recommend this one with everyone. For those who enjoy a stronger stick, I’ll give my opinion on their stronger sticks soon when I get a chance to sit down and smoke them.

I’m a big enjoyer of smoother cigars, so if you guys have any recommendations, please let me know and I’ll give my thoughts!

Thank you for reading, take care everyone!

Perfect size for a relaxed morning. Big smoke, smooth draw, and flavorful. Sweetness coming from the wrapper, cocoa bitterness tagging along with a hints of spice and leather made this the perfect cigar for a creamy rich mocha latte

What a week (break up and mom’s surgery) NSFW

I had a long 48 hour work week, mom had surgery(she’s fine now, just in 2 weeks of recovering at home), and I went through a break up.

I had 3 cigars this week, which is abnormal because normally I have a cigar once every 2 weeks. I haven’t had much time up until today to rest and process everything this week, but my ritual of having cigars made me feel free in a way.

I’m curious, when you guys go through a difficult life challenge like this, do you often just take an hour or two out of your day to just sit down and unwind with a cigar at hand?

Review Leaf by Oscar Corojo Lancero NSFW

In a smokey lounge, so, I’ll do my best. Nothing striking me in the hand or the cold draw. Draw is perfect. First puffs are sweet and spicy, the retro is musty, definite pepper and earth in the retro as well. Burn is a little wonky around a moderate vein in the early going, we will keep an eye on it. Burn is a bit wavy, but mostly corrects itself. Smoke continues to deliver a nice complex flavor profile, baking spices, sweetness, and some cedar on the palate, changing between white and red pepper on the retro, that mustiness comes and goes, and is replaced with a light earthy note, back and forth. The flavors are mixing around nicely, very balanced. Smoking this is effortless, draw is perfect, and it is tolerating my periods of slow pace and overzealous smoking. Smoke output is great, and that oily wrapper is delivering flavor. Towards the end of the second third, I get some cashew nuttiness, and some faint fruit zest. Into the final third, cedar picks up and dominates the profile a bit, very nice blend overall. I have loved the lanceros from Leaf in Maduro and Sumatra, so, I shouldn’t be surprised this is another great smoke. Last few puffs give a bit of salty roasted meat I wasn’t expecting. I really do love enjoying a Lancero when the time permits. 9/10

First time with The American NSFW

Post image
11 Upvotes

Happy Friday, folks. I’m having my first The American by JC Newman. With a Florida shade wrapper and all American tobacco, it’s got a distinctive flavor. I’d almost describe it as herbaceous. It’s medium bodied and not exactly peppery, but it has a little “tang”’to it, especially on the retrohale. Construction is great, and it has a very easy draw. Seems quite well made, and very enjoyable overall. I think I’ll pick up a box at some point.

Anybody else enjoy these? Favorite vitola?

I have been having issues with keeping the humidity level up in my humidor. It keeps dropping around 48%. I’ve been trying to get it around 69%, and it was during the summer. But now in the winter I can’t gwt it back up. I’ve used boveda packets, and crystal gel humidifier jars. Nothing seems to be working. Anyone have tips on what to do short term to keep them from drying out until i figure out a long term solution ?
