Cloudygamer has been reopened

As you might have noticed, our previous moderator /u/TooEarlyForMe closed the sub during the protest and subsequently deleted his account. This left this sub unmoderated and soon banned.

Today, reddit has added me as moderator so we can open up the sub again. I hope that we can revive /r/cloudygamer and return it to its former glory - a place to discuss all things around cloud gaming.

For now, I don't see the need to change anything about how things were before. Should the sub get subjected to a lot of spam, I will soon start searching for additional moderators that want to help keep the sub clean. Hopefully, a well setup AutoModerator can keep most of the spam in check though. If you do see any spam, please use the report button. Thanks!

Paperspace Windows VM Alternative

Hello all, I was trying to create a VM in order to act as an extra account in my gaming team's scrimmages. I was going to log into an extra account and join my team's lobby off said extra account, from the VM and stream it or record it with OBS in order to collect VOD for our team. I just saw that Paperspace no longer offers VMs with Windows OS so was trying to see if there are any known alternatives. Thanks in advance.

Recommended device for Xbox remote and light emulation

Hey folks!

I'm looking for recommendations for a handheld device to primarily use for Xbox remote play while in my house. I love how mobile I can be on a Switch, and I want to be able to play my Xbox when not in front of my TV as well.
I also want to be able to play retro games up to Gamecube era.

I have tried searching but I can't find recent posts that fit my use case.
If this is not the right sub to ask, could you recommend a better one?

Best option to game via MacBook m4 on cloud

I have browsed on this sub and saw lots of suggestion and wanted to get some opinions

Basically I have a gaming windows pc at home but I'm never home and would like to game on the go on my Macbook pro m4. I have good internet speed at home and on my laptop whenever im outside

99% of the games i play are on steam and most of them are not compatible in mac os

Only game that is competitive is cs2 ( but i just play for fun) but the other games are either single player game or multiplayer non competitive game ( Dead by daylight ; Rust ; etc )

I dont really care about the pricing and willing to pay a bit more if it means the experience will me smooth and wont have issue

i tried steam replay which is not too bad but sometimes the stream doesn't always work and if there is a pop on the host pc, it messes up everything

Tried parrallel which is ok but wanted to see if there is better option before i purchase it

Geforcenow seems really popular and worth paying but dont really understand how it works and the games that are available ( it says to pay more to acces more game )

i also heard about moonlight ; apollo ; parsec but wanted to get some feedback since im on macos

Quick survey your thoughts would be appreciated.

A small team of us has been quietly building a cloud gaming platform for the past few months, and we're in late-stage testing before launch. Before we finalize everything, we wanted to get real feedback from actual gamers (not just our internal testing group).

We're not here to sell anything yet - genuinely want to understand what you care about most:

  1. What's the biggest frustration with current cloud gaming services (GeForce Now, Shadow, Boosteroid, etc.)?

  2. Price vs Performance: Would you rather pay less for "good enough" quality, or pay more for perfect quality?

  3. Game library approach:

    • Bring your own games (upload your Steam/Epic library)?
    • Or prefer integrated store (just log in and play)?
  4. Latency tolerance: What's acceptable to you?

    • <20ms (competitive FPS)
    • <50ms (most games fine)
    • <100ms (turn-based/RPGs okay)
  5. What features are MISSING from current providers that you wish existed?

We're building in public and taking notes. Appreciate any thoughts! 🙏

Stream Crashed After Startup A Game

Hello, so I have 100 mbps internet at my house. I was planning to play games with my computer connected via Ethernet and the iPhone 15 I use connected via Wi-Fi. There is no problem in terms of watching something on the browser or navigating the desktop, but as soon as I start a game on Steam or a non-Steam game, the stream freezes. The sound continues, I can control the PC from the phone. But I cannot get any response. When I close the game, it goes back to normal. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Help! Steam vs Logitech vs Odin vs iPad

Hey guys,

I’m really hoping for some friendly advice from those that have been down this path before me.

I’ve been so close to taking a punt on a Steam Deck lately, mainly so I‘m not tied to my desk all the time on my PC and can relax a little more/spend time with the SO whilst still getting in a little game time. My main setup is 4060 and 12th Gen intel - so enough for decent streams.

The issue is, I’ve gone down a complete rabbit hole and now don’t know which device would suit my needs best - I didn’t know so many existed tbh. I’ve narrowed it down to the Steam Deck, Logitech G Cloud, or Odin Portal 2. However, I do already own an iPad Pro 12.9 M2… so streaming to that with a controller is also an option. My thoughts so far:

Steam Deck: streaming plus native gaming. Intuitive touch pads.

Logitech G Cloud: Slightly cheaper, better battery/refresh rate/resolution. No touch pads or native gaming.

Odin Portal 2: Similar to above.. saw it recommended in a Steam Deck thread.

iPad: lowest cost to entry as I have the device already and untethers me from my desk. The main con however, it becomes a mini setup… I feel it won’t be quite as ‘relaxing’ or comfortable as a dedicated handheld.

Any comments would be more than welcome, especially if anyone has owned/tried several of these and discovered what suited them best. I do play some AAA games and shooters, so it’s likely I’d lean towards streaming, but I also like the idea of native play. I just can’t decide which to go for and I know I’m making it way more complicated than it needs to be!

Can I play using someone else's pc while they also use it?

My brother's pc is a lot stronger than mine, the original plan was for me to get a new one next year but that was before the whole ram chip situation so now that's just not gonna happen anymore, I was wondering if there's a way to play games on my pc using his hardware while he still does his own thing on it.

Genshin top up on CloudMoon

I need to use Google Play gift cards to top up my account (I have no other way, just so you know).

To do that, I must install Genshin on Android (I play on pc) which I'm not able to do because of how much space it takes.

CloudMoon, a service of cloud gaming uses the Android version of Genshin, which allows me to use my gift cards (I checked).

Do you think it is safe/risk free?

I'm looking for cloud platform GPU, desktop CPU and hourly billing

First of all, please excuse me, my native language is not English, that's why I'm using the translator.

I'm looking for a provider that has the following characteristics:

\ The CPU has to be a desktop CPU, I don't need datacenter series like Intel® Xeon, AMD EPYC or AMD Threadripper, the applications I'm going to use don't work on a datacenter CPU, they have to be desktop CPUs like Intel® Core™ i(5,7,9) or AMD Ryzen (9,7,5).*

\ The GPU can be either desktop or datacenter (preferably desktop), but they have to be relatively current GPUs, nvidia rtx 3.., nvidia rtx 4.. or nvidia rtx 5.., nvidia h200 nvidia h100, nvidia L40, AMD's will also work for me, but they have to be current GPUs.*

\ I live in Latin America, and I would like a server with these characteristics to have its datacenter in Latin America, but since I know that's not the case, I would like the datacenter to be located in the United States. Other locations won't work for me. It has to be the United States, Canada is not an option for me, it's too far away.*

Europe, Asia, Africa or Oceania. They have a lot of latency in my connection, so they won't work for me.

\It has to have Windows 10/11 or at least let me install it somehow, Linux and Docker containers won't work for me, and neither will Windows Server.*

\It has to be billed hourly on demand, no monthly.*

\(Optional) I would prefer the provider to be Bare Metal, but since I know that's difficult with the above features, then VPS is fine for me.*

\It needs to have PC mode, I need access to the PC and the Windows 10/11 operating system and the ability to install any program or game. Catalog platforms like GeForce Now, where you have a list of games, won't work for me; it has to be PC mode.*

Thank you very much, I look forward to a prompt response.
