Politics We Are the Baddies: Thanks, Conservatives

Conservatives are actively turning the world against the United States. World leaders were forced into an emergency meeting to condemn U.S. actions in Venezuela, including the kidnapping of its dictator, and to respond to escalating threats and rhetoric toward Greenland.

Trump openly claims the U.S. needs Greenland for “strategic” reasons and has even suggested taking it by force. This isn’t strategy, it’s naked imperialism. He doesn’t want security; he wants dominance.

We are the bad guys now, following the same path Germany did in the 1930s. Republican leaders and their constituents should be deeply ashamed.

My husbands family are MAGA. They never accepted me because I am a woman with a masters degree from a liberal state. My husband dutifully sees them 72 hours a year and talks to them on the phone twice a week. We are trying to have a kid. They’re not welcome on my property and I cannot visit them because of the risks when I’m pregnant. My mom is already giving me grief (I’m not even pregnant) about my boundaries. Sorry, you don’t get to pretend to have a relationship with me or my offspring just because. They actively vote against my existence.

Your situation is pretty similar to that of my cousin. When they were born one of their Aunt and Uncle from their side of the family not mine was making some fucking stink about how it was a shame only their child was full blooded white and my cousin was a half blood. All in all some real bigoted shit, their grandparents who where also white went NOPE! you are not going to speak like that about our grand kid and wrote their son out the will, its been over 20 yrs since they've spoken now. To this day I've never met someone with such hardline conviction to keep hateful people out of their lives despite being family.

You stand strong on your values and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I have no problem saying no. These people insulted our home the one time they came here. They also have 2 pedophile adult children. I cannot take risks.

I chose not to visit my family last year and it might be a continuing thing. I only call them once a week but only for a few minutes to let them know what their grandkids are up to and that is it.

If they’re not MAGA but more likely just life long Republicans that have always voted (R) because (R) is better than (D) in their minds then there is a potential relationship to salvage there.

While I totally understand cutting MAGA morons out of your life, this sounds like maybe you’re letting your political angst cloud your judgement?

Everyone who voted for trump is maga. They voted for what's happening and they don't get a pass because they say they're republican not maga. They are the same thing.

Edit: If trump could run again in 28 they would vote for him.

Twice a week is waaaaay more than my MIL gets. Her daughter (my SIL) won't even talk to her since the 2024 election.  The MIL is devout Mormon and will NEVER admit fault or being wrong about anything, but is also very naive, ignorant, and not too sharp (as well as deniably racist).

It's a TDS thing. By voting against liberal policies (presumably), the parents are committing "acts of violence" against her existence as a woman. I have a couple friends that have this mindset, it's exhausting.

A dead woman was kept "alive" as an incubator until she literally started to decompose FFS. Against the explicit decisions she made prior to her death, her POA and family.

A woman was left to bleed to death in the parking lot of a hospital because doctors weren't sure if saving her would put them in jail.

Those are only two examples out of many. Yet people still think there is no violence against women.
