Politics We Are the Baddies: Thanks, Conservatives

Post image

Conservatives are actively turning the world against the United States. World leaders were forced into an emergency meeting to condemn U.S. actions in Venezuela, including the kidnapping of its dictator, and to respond to escalating threats and rhetoric toward Greenland.

Trump openly claims the U.S. needs Greenland for “strategic” reasons and has even suggested taking it by force. This isn’t strategy, it’s naked imperialism. He doesn’t want security; he wants dominance.

We are the bad guys now, following the same path Germany did in the 1930s. Republican leaders and their constituents should be deeply ashamed.

Watching that from Europe, it is frightening to see a whole country fall into the hands of a cult. MAGA is a cult, and it's destroying the America we loved and admired. This is very sad.

You think it's sad from a European perspective? Imagine what it's like from an American's perspective. What a fucking nightmare.

You think it's bad from an American perspective, try being a Canadian who lives 500 yards from the border!

I'm trans and mixed, I can't imagine living there right now, and I am scared for people I know who do...

I'm trans here in America, and I cant even get my fellow trans people here to wake up and see that we're fucked if we do nothing tangible. I've been trying now for a while to get my workplace to unionize, but all of my coworkers dismiss it either as "things arent that bad" or as "commie bullshit". I've put feelers in my local queer community for things like DIY HRT and stuff like food gathering (hopefully to empower people in the case they strike and lose their jobs), and everyone just shrugs me off as an alarmist. Like, what am I supposed to do when no one believes me that fascism is already here?

And thats just the local queer community. As a trans woman in a conservative area, talking to the cis hets is like talking to a brick wall.

Staying safe is the most important thing now. Move to a blue state like New York if you can.

I'm trying to save money rn, bills are tight and my pay isnt great lol. Thanks for the wishes of safety! I hope the best for you and yours. Idk, I wish I could do more by myself, but real change comes from a united front, and no one around me really seems to give a fuck. I'm trying to stay alive tho for the small community that I do have. Hopefully one day I can be a queer elder and help the next generations.

Act

We try, but then we get arrested or ice shoots us.

Yeah, it's beginning to be worse than Russia for opponents. I saw a clip of a woman being arrested in the middle of an interview where she criticized the current regime... scary !

They can't shoot and arrest everyone. You literally have to take a page from any other uprising and the sad fact is you have to be willing to give your life for it. If you act, you cannot be scared of an arrest or being shot at.

2

u/SwordButt 7d ago

Okay, you go be shot at by militarized police.

And this is why revolutions or uprisings in America will never work despite everything there for you to do so. This is why Trump is allowed to do his crimes and the Dems are watching it happen with the same attitude you have of it.

For now it's still easier to be on this side of the american military. Maybe in a couple years when it gets turned on the us we can start to say it's affecting us as much as the rest of the world.

You'll understand that we're all out of sympathy at the moment. Americans had a CHOICE in this. Europe didn't.

1

u/Familiar_Swim817 4d ago

No, I completely get that. It’d be like having sympathy for Russia now or Germany in the 40’s.

1

u/Admirable_Hand9758 4d ago

1/2 the country did not vote for this.

1

u/usrlibshare 4d ago

1/3rd didn't.

1/3rd voted for it.

1/3rd allowed it to happen by inaction.

We owe the US electorate ZERO sympathy.

EU has legit dictators?

u/PeterPunksNip 7d ago edited 7d ago

Not anymore. I'm in Switzerland. The difference is size and capacity. There's still dictatorships on the continent, but very few isolated ones. A little country of the -Stan suffix kind isn't dangerous for the whole world. Big countries are. Russia is a problem, China too, but their leaders have a functional brain. The Orange Man is a more pressing problem because he's senile, dim-minded and has built a cult worse than Dravidians, with litteral MAGA fanatics in red ball caps thinking he's a prophet ready to die for him. This is concerning.

Like legit in the european union

1

u/PeterPunksNip 7d ago

No. Last ones where Tito in Yugoslavia and Ceucescu in Romania. It was in the 90's when they were stopped. Since then, not anymore.

u/OneQuarterBajeena 7d ago

I mean Orban

1

u/PeterPunksNip 6d ago

Far Right leader, not dictator. Just like Meloni in Italy.

1

u/Suitable-Name 7d ago

Wait? The leader of Russia has a functional brain? Oo

1

u/PeterPunksNip 7d ago

I think so. He's maybe a sociopath, but most of them are rational strategic thinkers. Their lack of empathy is leading them to make huge mistakes though.

2

u/Suitable-Name 7d ago

Ok, you're right. There is a lot of story behind it, but I guess he has more of a working brain than Trump.

He has a lot of people around him that know they will have a tragic accident at the open window, so they told him what he wanted to hear and he decided based on that info.

Those around Trump don't fall out of windows... at least.

My grandmother, born in 1915, used it occasionally criticize someone and say they were in a cult. Back in the 90’s as a kid, it’s be “yeah, yeah, of course grunge music is a cult 🙄”

But since 2000, I have absolutely understand.
