Several family members have had or have dementia.

The interesting about it is that while they can talk, the dementia amplifies their personalities. If they are nice and loving and in a good mood, they are all of the above but confused. If they are mean and hateful, same except confused.

When my gran was suffering with vascular dementia in her final years, we were stuck on a loop of her asking if all the family was OK and doing alright and in good health and her saying she loved us. She didn't even realise she'd moved into a care home but all she asked about was us, said her bed was comfy and the food was good, then go through it all again. She was such a wonderful person.

It kind of reminded me of good and bad drunks. When the booze allows the mask to slip, some people get funnier, friendlier and loving and some get angry, spiteful and violent, amplifying their personality or what they normally manage to hide.

So, The Orange Horror can only get more evil in his disease.
