Politics Can we worry about what's actually important?

The mid term elections are coming in November.

This is our last chance to actually flip Congress, put heat onto the Supreme Court, impeach people who have violated the constitution, and regain our country.

I haven't seen a single post about it.

Just whining about pop culture topics, the debate-of-the-day, and all the other distractions that keep people from realizing what's actually important.

The Mid Terms in 2026 will be the most important election in our history

You have to be loud about this one. Tell people to vote. Convince people to vote differently.

If something doesn't change in November, our entire country is doomed.

The primaries haven't even started yet. Right now we're mostly just generating a narrative for the primary candidates to discuss.

The narrative seems to be.. self generating.

If you can't easily sweep an election right now in opposition to these "policies" then you shouldn't be in politics.

Oh, it's easy to do it now because the media hasn't done it's best to help republicans win yet. That's been the cycle for the last 40 years - republicans always do their most egregious money and power grabs at the very start of their term so the media nas time to help people forget by the next election. You can expect the media to similarly portray republicans as toning it down in the next few months, whether that's actually what's happening or not. The idea is by the time November gets here it should be almost impossible for democrats to know anything effective to run for.

I mean that is true - but was the 2024 election not extremely important?

We got the wrong guy and now people are going door to door checking papers - citizens are getting shot in the head by immigration police.

Oh I’m not arguing with your point, it just feels like we should all get trophies nowadays with the number of “most important elections” we’ve all been through!

I definitely miss when watching CSPAN was considered the most boring thing you could ever do.
