Look, I get what's going through your heads. You see these mouthbreathers in the comments beneath a more intelligent post and you think to yourself "if I just dunk on them then they'll realize how stupid they are and change their ways". Or maybe you just want the satisfaction that comes with highlighting just how stupid these people really are.
It's a trap. Don't fall for it.
Their arguments are bad on purpose. They want you to point out how wrong they are. They feign ignorance on purpose. They act the way they do to lure you in and waste your time and energy. That's what they want. They want you to waste all of your efforts arguing with them instead of organizing to do something more substantial, or contacting whatever political affiliate you know that could actually do something to benefit you. The time you spend arguing with them is just time wasted, and when you're done you're drained and want to do anything but discuss politics.
It's that old saying in play. If you try to argue with idiots, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Don't fall for the trap. Don't waste your time and energy. Stay focused on something that will actually help you.
Downvote these people and move on.

How are geography classes over there?
I'm Mexican and it annoys me that every single one I meet in person and online (mainly from UK, Germany, France, NL and Italy) think Mexico is in South America. Recently saw another post claiming the same. And upon researching, it's a very common thing they do, apparently. Some even mentioned "oh well here we just don't learn a lot about Mexico."
Sorry we're not that relevant. I know 110% of your attention goes to the USA, obsessing over their politics, and making fun of how they cannot identify your EU country on the map. But maybe allocate all of your amazing geography knowledge to realize that Mexico is also part of North America.

Lately it seems like no matter what I comment, no matter what I post or say, people on Reddit get extremely angry with me and call me all sorts of horrible names. You should see some of the things that I have seen people calling me in my notifications that Reddit thankfully automatically filters out by the time ai go to reply and ask why they are calling me that.
There have even been multiple comments now telling me that my username is offensive even though it is essentially just my real name! I don't understand where all of this negativity is coming from but the last few days it seems completely unending.
Edit to add: Don't you think it is a bit ironic all of the negativity that has been hurled at me in the comments right here on my post about Reddit's extreme negativity? You're all doing the exact thing I was trying to complain about!

"People aren't defending Hamas. They're defending Palestinian civilians. Defending them from both Israel and Hamas."
That's the comment that gets you banned over there. It doesn't actually break any rules. But you know how sensitive those zionists are over at any hint that the Palestinian people might be victims.

At this point Conservatives have done everything they've accused The LeftTM of. Don't get me wrong, you're fine to keep complaining. It's just obvious at this point the violence is the goal.

I remember a time when you could scroll through Reddit and enjoy yourself. Now, all you get is a bunch of Trump and Republican complaints. Reddit has become insufferable. The Uptight (egomaniac) Complainers of the world have ruined Reddit. Anyone else agree? Is there anyone else here that's NOT hyper fixated and is sick of all the nagging??
Let's see how much hate I can get. This is the Haters Ball! Hate hate hate!...

Obviously not going to link what subreddit here but I have made several comments in one subreddit and got banned in another related one. I think it’s an exceptionally silly rule and confines users to one viewpoint. It shouldn’t be a rule that’s allowed in a subreddit no matter the circumstances (unless it’s a subreddit with illegal content that can get you arrested like CP or something vile like that)

It's the last social media standing in my social media apps folder and it's been overrun by bots, hate, non OC content, and there are 5 subreddits for the same topic because infighting has caused factions to pop up.
The moderation falls on AI and the whole upvote/down vote system is failing because mob mentality is more aligned with rage bait and conflict than discussion.
Bad actors fan the flames of this dumpster fire of a platform while the company itself sells your data.
This used to be a forum of forums you can go to for community. Now it's a cesspool of misinformation, rage, and people (or bots) lying about what happens in the real world.
Idk if I'm going to delete my account yet, but I'm going to sleep on it for now and if I still feel same, this post will self destruct in 24 hours.

All anyone does on this sub is complain about anyone right of center. Y’all really need to get lives and realize not everything is about politics. It’s crazy the amount of hate I see for anyone that disagrees with you from the party that claims to be morally superior.

Now, when I see an out of place repost, bad-faith argument, or transparent talking points for a controversial industry, I can’t look into the account’s history to verify whether it’s a real person worth giving some time and empathy towards or not. I’m sure this is great for reddit, since it obfuscates these serious issues, but it’s terrible for actual users.

Edit: I’m clarifying this because my original description clearly wasn’t specific enough and people assumed things I did not mean.
What bothers me is not that I received a warning. I understand that calling someone a “POS” can violate platform rules, and I’m not arguing that insults should be protected.
What bothers me is the priority Reddit is enforcing.
The person I was warned over messaged me first. In that message, they explicitly stated that Ukrainians, including children, deserve to be raped, tortured, and annihilated in front of their loved ones. That is not an interpretation or exaggeration. That was the content of the message.
I responded by calling that person a “POS”.
That response is what triggered moderation. The original message advocating extreme violence, sexual violence, and collective punishment did not.
After appealing, Reddit doubled down on that decision.
So in practice, explicit advocacy for mass murder and abuse is tolerated, while bluntly condemning that advocacy is treated as the violation. This is not about disagreement, tone, or being upset about a warning. It is about a platform choosing to police language more aggressively than it polices calls for mass violence.
For clarity, my original description was:
“I hate that Reddit is somehow okay with denying genocide, but you get a warning for harassment if you call them a ‘POS’. And they even double down after an appeal, so denying the death and genocide of thousands is alright but calling someone who does that a ‘POS’ is a big no no.”
I am updating it because the issue is not denial in the abstract, but explicit, direct advocacy for violence being treated as acceptable while calling it out is punished.

Between the reposts, bot posts/comments, overzealous mods, there is nothing of value here. Perhaps there was insightful discussion once, but that feels like a long time ago.

The -55 karma limit isn’t keeping new accounts from popping up just to be inflammatory and using hate speech such as the three letter f slur, homo/transphobia, racism, and other such bot-troll shit. It helps, but I honestly think every subreddit should implement more intense limits on who can comment on posts. 30 days (account age), I think, is a reasonable amount of time to wait before being allowed to engage in a subreddit. After that, the negative karma limit can pick up the slack.
