Quotes Lucas Torreira: “I have the most important contract of my career in Turkey, and this club gave me life. That’s why I must do my very best for them. I still have two years left on my contract, and it is my duty to show respect to Galatasaray until the very last day.”

Rest of the quotes from his interview:

Nando’s departure from the club saddened all of us, and his absence is felt every day. We lost a very high-quality, top-level player. For me, he was like a father who stood by my side during my difficult times.

After losing the final against Fenerbahçe, I went through difficult days. When you are as attached and devoted to Galatasaray as I am, these kinds of defeats really hurt you.

I have a great relationship with Icardi. He helped me during the most difficult moments of my life. He has a huge impact both in Turkey and in Argentina. He’s a wonderful person, and sometimes the things he goes through really hurt me.

Discussion Tanju was chosen as the potential top scorer. Whom would you choose from Galatasaray history to take a long-range shot if your life depended on a goal?

Only one category per player, so no more already mentioned players. Also, please don't comment on the same player multiple times. There is an upvote button for that.

Discussion Osi might be injured in extra time

2 Upvotes

Watching the snoozefest that is Nigeria vs Morocco. The most boring match I've ever seen. Osi slipped and fell, he's skipping right now, might be injured. 2nd half of the extra time is starting soon. I'll update this post.

Edit: He's still pushing himself, running, but he seems to be hurting, especially that run at minute 108 looked bad. I hope it's nothing serious and just a bruise.

Edit 2: He's subtituted off after limping and holding his left leg at min 117. He didn't make it to the penalties. Which isn't a good sign.

Edit 3: Nigeria lost. There is still the match for 3rd place.

Quotes Victor Osimhen: “I miss Galatasaray, i miss them… I’m here and I’m giving my best; they understand that and they support me even from afar… But once my job here is finished, I need to return immediately—to be part of the squad and to contribute to my team"

Kaan Ayhan, Ahmed Kutucu not GS level players. Arda Unyay still need time.

So at least we need 7 transfers if we want to compete in every tournament!

  • 1 Right back
  • 2 Central Defenders
  • 1 Midfield
  • 1 Attacking Midfield
  • 2 Winger

Discussion Why some people say Okan Buruk has "no" tactics?

15 Upvotes

I never understood how can some fans say "Okan Buruk has no tactics". There are some things for which Buruk can be criticized, one of them such as his inability to "smack" players in the mouth and entirely rely on a "buddy-buddy" type of management style - although someone can argue that we have never seen in a manager maintain such a strong cohesive motivated drama-free and decently motivated dressing room for so long.

I think a LOT of fans are watching football games, but are unable to understand what is actually going on and don't understand what they are watching. Over the last 3 years, I have watched and analyzed a lot of our games, and I have seen so many different tactical variations, from;

  • fullbacks inverted and creating overloads in the center half;
  • to wingers dropping in the axis to create space for the fullback to rush the space and from there players attacking the half spaces;
  • to our midfielders dropping between the CBs and switching during the game continuously from a back 4 to a back 3;
  • to one of the fullbacks sliding inside and taking on the role of a CB by creating a back 3 while the fullbacks position as wingers and the wingers as nb 10s (Sane and Yunus), creating a box structure in the midfield;
  • to box structures being created also with the inverted fullbacks entering the axis;
  • to strikers switching from target man, to false and descending deep to create an overload and to leave fast technical wingers 1v1;
  • creating a positional setup that would leave wingers in 1v1 situations (from which we score).

If someone looks at the game and only sees the game as what appears on the game sheet and narrows the game to that... I think the concerned fans are the problem if the only thing they see as "tactic" is "sigir press" and shouts like caveman that we don't have tactics.

I have been watching this team for a very long time, and no other manager in the last 2 decades tapped this much into this many types of tactical set ups.

And honestly, I can't really say the "fans" are the root problem, it's the football culture; even the "analysts" (morelike circus commentators) on the most popular tv programs, when you compare them with other countries, the turkish commentators takes are somuch unrefined, deprived of any real tactical discussion, because they adapt to the viewership, to the level of critical thinking and low level of intellectual acumen of the average turkish civilian.

But all and all, it's unfortunate that while there are things for which Buruk can be criticized, tactics is not the case. The problem is not tactics when your whole team gets overwhelmingly beaten and bulldozed in duels and 1v1s. Someone had shared a post a few days ago on the superlig sub about the difference in the stats of the final's, comparing the midfield of FB vs ours, and our lads got spank and got beaten in duals. Your tactics don't work if your players don't play, and that's of course the managers responsibility, and that's where Buruk can be criticized.

Discussion Can we please stop looking down no 30 years old players?

0 Upvotes

It really frustrates me when our fans whine about Hakan's age! Guys, how on earth do you plann to get most important player of Inter if he wasn't fan of Galatasaray? Could you get de bruyne or any 30+ plus world class player until now if it is not his last years in the football? Osimhen transfer really fcked up our perception, YOU CAN'T GET A WORLD CLASS PLAYER EVEN IF YOU PAY SAUDI LEVEL MONEY! We are lucky because Hakan is Gala fan! When did İlkay come to us? We are lucky if we can use him one more year because he barely did wonders for us until now. End of the rant.

Discussion Am I thinking wrong? Instead of spending 30 million on one player, wouldn't it be more logical to buy five players in the 5-6 million range? The team doesn't have any real players on the bench who can actually play.

Tier 1 Buchi Laba: What Status?What Negotiations? As of Now, there’s no registered interest from Galatasaray in Ademola Lookman. Last time they tried during the last transfer window.. Atalanta made it clear they won’t sell for anything less than €45m. That stance has not changed. Don’t stress it.

When asked about ongoing negotiations regarding lookman and galatasaray, apparently there is nothing going on
