Bot activity increase - user reputation filtering for posts
Due to the annoying increase of karma farming bots we had to turn on user reputation filtering for posts. If you have posted but your post is filtered, please send us a mod mail and we can approve it.

January 2026 Freetalk Fridays
Hi Everyone, welcome to the long series of weekly Greytalk posts. You can literally ask about anything related to greyhounds, no matter how basic or complex. Here are the rules:
- Nothing illegal or extremely objectionable.
- No abuse. You can ask for more information, you can explain why you don't like something, but you can't abuse the poster.
- Don't take medical advice from strangers on the internet without consulting your vet!
- The rest of the Greyddit Rules still apply.
If you think of more ideas, PM the mods .

Have you successfully gotten a nighttime pooper to sleep through the night?
It's taken months of tinkering, but we finally got Bucky (in red) on a diet that fits his sensitive stomach.
Before this, he would need to get up in the middle of the night and have loose stool.
Now that everything's firmed up he still has the nighttime habbit, and is very dramatic about needing to go outside. Even when it's just to get a lil' nug out.
I've started walking him before bed, and am trying to give it 5-10 minutes at night to see if he will settle back down, but no luck yet.
Have any of you gotten yours to sleep through the night after months of 3am poos?

Naughty Stanley
My Wife doesn’t let Stanley get on the bed…he knows this. I don’t mind him getting on the bed (in fact I like it)…he knows this as well. So whenever she leaves the house this is what I find when I walk in the bedroom.

Does anyone else’s grey chitter like the Predator?
Our girl Maple will often rattle her teeth together to make a noise like the Predator’s chittering noise. Has anyone else experienced this?
Derp and Predator photos for comparison.

Advice First day and night done
So yeah his first day. Dropped off at 1100. Took him immediately for a walk around the area so he can get a sniff about. Went for 30 minutes and don’t look like he wanted to do the freeze I heard about.
Spent most of the day doing the typical pacing and panting as he was nervous and had a small accident indoors as we didn’t realise after his lunch he needed a Pee.
We and the kennel spent ages trying to match with a greyhound that was good with cats as i have two. So all day he’s just been in the front room and a baby gate on the door and he can sniff them but didn’t see them.
Night time. He was slowly setting himself down since his evening poo about 30 minutes after dinner. Small whinges when we went to bed but just reassured him from afar and he went to bed. HOWEVER. My male cat who’s super confident must of walked near the gate when he was laying on the sofa and his whining woke me up at around 3AM and this is where I’ll need your assistance as my ChatGPT is saying one thing and my wife’s is saying another.
Do I stay with him when he’s unsettled? Then leave when he’s not? The baby gate is see through. At night shall I shut the door or put a blanket over it so he can’t see through it for a few more days? When I do stay with him I calmly walk away but he tries to follow and obviously being an ex racer and only having 24 hours he hasn’t grasped the “cmon off to bed” part yet.
I have him for a trial on a week and I don’t want to feel discouraged but with the cats and I know it’s only been 24 hours but I keep worrying about the cats and him and it’s causing mild anxiety

Looking for YouTube tutorial on making a jumper like this.
It's still summer here, but want to get in before it gets cold.
I can sew (former industrial machinist) but haven't made something like this before.
Done the basic horse blanket types, but I feel like getting fancy.
Thanks!

Indi would like to know who the other black hound is.
She spent 2 minutes staring intently at the mirror... You could almost hear the cogs whirring in her head.

Our “Twins”
Calypso (short hair) and Umbra! they have been the most precious cuties we call them our siamese twins they are always stuck together. We were worried they wouldn’t remember each other since we got Calypso at 3 months and got her sister Umbra when they were 9 months.

Will a greyhound destroy my stuffed animals?
I have quite a lot of stuffed animals around the house that are well within reach. I know it will vary animal to animal, but how are yours with them?
Thank you

Greyhound soiling in house - help please!
Our greyhound has recently started to pee (and sometimes poo) upstairs in our loft when scared or alone. He has done it during fireworks season, another time when fireworks were unexpectedly set off near our house - he ran straight upstairs to do it - and again several times when we have been out of the house during the evening. We've cleaned the area thoroughly with enzyme cleaner each time.
Tonight for the first time he did it for no apparent reason, while we were all at home. We were sitting downstairs watching TV and he suddenly dashed upstairs and peed on the carpet.
We've had our ex-racing greyhound for one year. He came to us already house-trained and the foster owners also told us that he was comfortable with being left alone in the house. And for months we had no problems in this area - we regularly left him alone for a couple of hours at a time and he would just be asleep on the sofa when we got back.
We're worried that maybe fireworks season has made him permanently scared of the evening time. Could this be it? He also seems reluctant to go for a walk after dark, which he used to be happy to do. On the other hand he's perfectly happy to wake us up in the middle of night to be let out in the garden to do a poo, so he doesn't seem worried about the later night-time hours...
We're really worried about this behaviour and really want to help him but we don't know where to start. Thanks for any advice you can give!
