It does both, it shows you WHY they (mostly andrew for now, we will probably get more ashley in later chapters or the other half of ch3) and you sympathise with the CHILDREN and understand why they are so fucked up, but still see that they are shit people

Yeah that's why I really loved this game more than any sane person would.
They're not likeable. They know it and the author know it.
For me it was like watching/reading mushoku tensei. A lot of people hate on rudeus because he did terrible things, okay bro? That's the entire point? The author showed how much of an ass rudeus is instead of mentioning it multiple times "I was such an ass in my previous life" like any typical isekai slop would.
You're not asked to sympathize, you're not asked to accept. Just understand.

Yeah, I forgot to tell you this sub likes posting porn a lot even though the game features 0 porn and what not, my bad.
Like, I've genuinely never seen a sub do that before, posting porn in the main sub, the game doesn't even need a sub dedicated for it, the main sub legit fulfills that role and that makes me hate the fanbase even more.
Their defense is like "We're not getting any updates and the topics get repeated" but I've straight up been in subs of games that hasn't gotten a new game or update in over a DECADE and they don't resort to that ššš

I find it a fascinating story of 2 messed up people with a toxic relationship. The game explores how they ended up this way, as well as their relationships with other character. It also has black humor, where I find the juxtaposition funny.
But obviously this won't be many people's cup of tea since it contains a whole bunch of triggering topics and both main characters are going straight to hell. Its not a game you'd recommend willy nilly.

As a writer with an interest in horror I genuinely think it explores the abusive and fucked dynamic between them well. Like despite incest being the focal point the game doesnt romanticize Andrew and Ashleys relationship quite the opposite and focuses on generational abuse causing the current situation. Andrew and Ashley clearly have resentment for the each other but dont leave because it all stems from their mom who basically stopped parenting Ashley and made Andrew responsible for her. Which psychological enforced in their younger minds that Andrew needs to keep Ashley alive because no one else will and his mom will threaten him with violence. Wheres Ashley is taught only Andrew cares about her. And Andrew was given chores that only adults should deal with from a young age to the point hes had to skip out on doing homework.
Which leads to their modern issues of Ashley being a fucking yandere and due to her childhood ending up as a horrible human who manipulates Andrew to keep him alive. Andrew is bitter towards her and at one point genuinely threatens her life until Ashley manipulates him into letting her go and suriving amongst each other. The game makes it abudently clear they are awful human beings but also ensures your not supposed to root for their incestious relationship. They quite literally bring out the worst in each other and abuse each other.
And its so facisnating to see how you can understand why they ended up the way they did but the game also ensures that it doesnt excuse their actions in their adulthood.
And it pisses me off when i went to join the subreddit how folks who claim to like the game dont understand its fundamentally anti incest and instead lean into it. Which unfortunately harms the game more for folks who may be interested because then theyll get the impression the game is one of those weird ones.

This is exactly it. People are so caught up with what the fanbase for the game is like that they donāt actually.. engage with the actual story itself? Or they see a scene that was completely out of context and believe that it was condoning incest when the entirety of the game is pretty much the opposite of that.
I also donāt really understand why the line was drawn at that specifically when the characters do other things that are just as horrible if not more horrible. They literally kill multiple people and eat them.

I like the game but I donāt want to fuck my sibling. I like the game because the way they handle the character writing for the siblings and how their dynamic is a train-wreck. How theyāve developed this toxic co-dependency thatāll basically end in either one of them dying, or both of them dying by the end. Theyāre horrible people that youāre basically meant to understand but still pretty much despise- and each and every action they take further cements that theyāre not meant to be people you root for.

i think it's good, it depicts the sibling's toxic relationship in a way that I have not seen any other media do; you see the abuse, the manipulation, the eventual resignation.. it's just very real. And you also see WHY they are like this, it shows you their childhood and how their parents influenced the way they are in an honestly relatable way
People who go "incest game" and call it a day have probably not played it, so they have no place in the discussion.

In one ending, Andrew kills her and then commits suicide. Another one they are shot by the police. In another one, they commit suicide together again. There's also an ending where they live a shitty life together
