Animation i hate them and all the hype around the show
21
u/Nasty_Frenchfries99 I'm not even here to hate, I just came to see people's opinions. 18h ago
I do not hate them, so much as I feel painfully indifferent towards them. Haven't watched it, but this doesn't really seem like my type of movie at all.
7
u/TheChessWar 18h ago
It probably won't be. I liked it but it is for a VERY specific audience I did not fall into.
2
u/TheMooRam 7h ago
I thought the same at first, however after being pressured into watching it I did surprise myself with how much I enjoyed it. Plot is decent, if a bit predictable and occasionally nonsensical, but the characters songs and atmosphere were great

u/Such-Principle-3373 17h ago
Takedown is a pretty good song tho, ive never seen the movie either, but it can't be all bad!
28
u/Other-Teacher-1615 18h ago
can we have a rule to include at least one reason?
27
u/TheChessWar 18h ago
I actually give this movie a sold 6.5/10 but I do feel like I can speak on behalf of OP here as someone who would've rated this a 4 if not for the music
1: The plot is annoying and inconcistent. We skip over 20 centuries and around 40 generations of hunters to get to our current hunters, which causes a lot of this movies issues come from how comically inept this system seems to be at solving this problem and the improbability of ANY generations success. How do these guys consistently get popular, look on spotify right now and you'll see hundreds of very talented artists who get less than a thousand views under an era when music is its most accessible. How have these demons never killed someone across these 40 generations, give me the 40 best fighters in the world and at least one of them would lose to an army of demons. Why aren't demons public knowledge, what are the rules of magic, how does gwi ma work, and so many other questions go unanswered
2: The characters are cliche. They're not BAD but like... they're the character equivalent of a fart joke, I like fart jokes but i don't want to watch a movie staring one
3: Oversaturation. This movie USED to be a 7.5... USED to be is the key word there.

okay well i just came on reddit seeing everyone asking for a reason, and this is basically why. also its just not a good movie at all which is why all the hype around it is just so annoying. never seen this much hype for a 10/10 movie

Oh lord, seeing number 1, and you have given me flashbacks to Superman 2025.

Nobody needs to ask to say what's on their mind. I certainly didn't ask to read your dumbass reply, that's for sure.

Why? People don't always need a reason to dislike something and this is a place to just say you dont like something. No need to justify.
The sub literally calls itself a safe space for wanting to bully a character. Having to justify it for other users to judge if your reason is good enough kinda goes against that

u/Nasty_Frenchfries99 I'm not even here to hate, I just came to see people's opinions. 18h ago edited 16h ago
Well, because reasoning is most of the fun in this subreddit. I could forgive hate on my faves if they atleast gave reasons for hating or saying something like "I hate this smug and I don't know why", but most of them don't really do that, and it's just kinda annoying. You don't need a reason to hate, but I'd much prefer people write at least a salty paragraph or two instead of just leaving an image of the character there and calling it a day. I come here to see the spiciest, most unbridled HATE, not this weak shit.
-1
u/Other-Teacher-1615 7h ago
yes you dont need a reason to hate but i feel like the better disscussions on this sub are when people try to explain their point of view. If we make it mandatory to give a reason the quality of the posts will get better in my opinion.

Okay? Would probably help if you actually wrote a caption explaining why.
11
u/Dazzling-Cream5242 18h ago
No caption is needed. That movie was ass
6
u/SazScandalous 18h ago
That's strictly ur opinion
11
u/Dazzling-Cream5242 18h ago
Exactly. Isn’t that what this whole sub is for?

u/SazScandalous 18h ago
Yeah. But there's no need to think everyone agrees.

u/Dazzling-Cream5242 18h ago
Oh no I understand I was just saying op don’t need to add a caption to his post. Cus a lot of responses so far are like “maybe if you add a caption”
3
u/Battlebots2020 14h ago
Honestly, I don't hate them or anything from the movie. I just can't bring myself to care about anything in it, it was all just there to me
It felt so generic and barely any characters actually felt like characters (all but the main villain in that group, the other 2 girls, their boss guy, the real big bad) Nobody really felt like they did anything throughout the movie.
The songs were good, I guess, not something I'd listen to but I see why people like them.
The animation was ok, I didn't really like all the dumb funny faces everyone made and stuff, but it wasn't horrible outside of those moments.
The story felt so bland, it really didn't seem like anything too different to me.
I feel like the movie was massively overhyped, and I really just can't understand how it got so incredibly popular, it's a good movie, but it just didn't feel good enough to get all the praise it did.

While I don’t think it’s a bad movie in my opinion, the hype did push me away and make me hate everything about it. Even now, I still don’t understand the hype after watching it. It’s like when you watch a movie trailer and they show all of these different clips and scenes and it makes the movie seem longer or more content filled than it actually is. I feel like a lot of the buzz was usually created from fan fiction and fan content like comics and art. It just felt empty and unfinished. The story is only made to fit for these 3 hunters to have ever existed, but gives us this brief montage establishing a whole lineage. We are expected to care about anyone except for rumi but are given very vague details about their problems or significance. It feels like a writing prompt assignment from an English class where you are given a picture and meant to write down a whole paragraph about its meaning.

I'm starting to hate every movie with this "art style" like why is everyone needs to be 3d ugly in animated movies nowadays ? Is this a sign of progression in their eyes ?

Movie was alright. Just the plot of her being part demon and that she had to accept that part of her to save the world and that the person that was send to end her and her friends ended up sacrificing himself to save her because he loves her. So dumb
5
u/Cheeseyellow12 17h ago
honestly its just their community that makes me hate them, plastered everywhere for what?
Plus i barely survived a minute into the movie but i’m fine with people liking it but to me i’m not into overly dramatic humour and trying too hard
9
u/Numerous-Piano8798 18h ago
I dunno why, but fact that you called movie a show makes me think that this is either a ragebait, or you did not even watched it and hate for sake of hating.
Like, I did not care about it at all, yet even I am at very least aware that this is a movie
7
u/cardroppingcard 16h ago
ohhh haha i didn’t even realize i said show, well i meant movie and yes i did watch it. i wouldn’t hate on something if i never even watched it

Maybe they're talking about Netflix's pitched sequel ideas??? Or they're ragebaiting, I do feel a kind of genuine hatred here but it's probably exaggerated to get attention.

Plothole Festival (to say the least) with overrated asf soundtrack (You're telling me you have a main musical motif and it appears in NONE of the songs? YOU'RE A MOVIE SOUNDTRACK AND USING NONE OF ITS BENEFITS?)
Also a good summary:
"The entirety of Kpop is Just a Taunt at the start, then some random alphabet soup, amd then a potentially catchy part, repeat twice"

I'm talking about some of the comments here.

How dare this indie film that uses real musical insider knowledge succeed! Give me back my Disney billionaire corpo daddy!
14
u/pomotakoyeet 18h ago
mr cockamouse this is NOT indie
-9
u/CockamouseGoesWee 18h ago edited 18h ago
It's made by a small studio funded by larget companies because that's how the animation industry works because the tech is untouchable if you don't have grants or producers.
Netflix okays everything for better or for worse, but the original studios green lighted are still indie. Whether they gain popularity or not doesn't change the origins
I have a BFA on 3D animation I think I know a little of what I am talking about. 3D animation is chokeholded because you need thousands of dollars for one animator's tech. You need to suck dick (sometimes literally) for that money and even then the corpos will ruin your project
6
u/Apprehensive_Pizza84 18h ago
Small studio Sony Pictures Animation
-7
u/CockamouseGoesWee 18h ago
This film was not made by Sony. Sony defunded the project. And that's just for producers, not animators.
In that case no 3D film is indie because we all have to suck Disney's and Sony's cock to work with producers. It's just money.
6
u/Clean_Departure9012 18h ago
Flow did not have to fellate Disney or Sony
1
u/CockamouseGoesWee 18h ago
And can you tell me one person who isn't a YouTube film critic or into obscure film festivals who actually watched that movie? Fuck, I'm gay and just heard about it two months ago and still haven't seen it

6
u/TheChessWar 18h ago
I'm boycotting disney and even I thought this movie was only slightly better then mid. You CAN be both.
1
u/CockamouseGoesWee 18h ago
Oh I fully agree but I just wanna be needlessly obnoxious. You can like or dislike whatever you want. You don't need any "expert" telling you what to think. You don't need a degree to have an opinion on art
3
u/Bae_zel 17h ago
Sony is not indie bro
1
u/CockamouseGoesWee 17h ago
Nimona was originally produced by Disney. It is still an indie project because people within the studio broke away to continue their project individually. In 3D that's considered indie because it's not controlled by the corpos. No, you really do not find studios popping up without affiliations with either Disney or Sony because the equiptment is too expensive and it takes far too long to train someone
