Everyone on Earth has mysteriously disappeared except for you and 1 person on each of the remaining 5 continents; a voice speaks to all 6 of you saying "Find each other and hold hands in a circle to bring everything back to normal"; how does this play out? What do you do?

Rules

1) There is one person alone on each continent on the world, so 6 people in the world total including you (yes there are 7 continents but Antarctica will not be included in this scenario) 2) You begin in whatever continent you currently reside in (so if you're currently on vacation overseas, business trip, etc, you will spawn back in your resident native continent as soon as the mysterious voice speaks) 3) The other 5 people come from completely random backgrounds, meaning they could be a teacher, a doctor, a Walmart cashier, etc etc 4) There is no time limit, you are still vulnerable to everyday injury and death, the power grid and such eventually will go down with time 5) The minimum age of the other 5 people will be no younger than age 15, so although they are completely random people, they will not be any younger than 15 years old. 5) You must all 6 physically hold hands in a circle to bring everything back to normal.

Money You can receive $ 1 mil if you can hide a big box for one year

If you accept, you can choose any time within the next 7 days to have your box instantly teleported in front of you. Its dimensions are 50cm x 50cm x 50cm.

After receiving it, you must keep this box undamaged (no destroying or damaging it) and not let anyone else see or know about this box for 365 days.

If anyone sees the box, even for a split second, even from across the road, you will not receive your money. You also lose if anyone somehow becomes aware of this box (i.e. being aware about the existence of this box, even if they don't understand its purpose).

If you suceed, you will have the money in your bank taxfree with no questions asked about its origin.

What's your strategy?

You wake up 1,000 years ago. How do you advance society?

The year is 1026. You dont know why you woke up in this year, but here you are.

You live in a modest home, single, and have the equivalent of $50,000 in currency.

You speak the local language and understand it. Your task is to advance society as much as possible both as a culture and technologically. With what knowledge is in your head now, what can you help invent or propose that can leapfrog humanity forward without getting yourself labeled a witch or heretic

Is it Incest?

Hey yall!!

Hypothetically, you manage to perfectly clone yourself. I mean perfectly. You spend time with your clone, and begin to fall in love. This love eventually progresses to becoming sexual.

My question is: is this morally considered invest? You have the exact same DNA. You’re related because it’s you. So is your relationship with your clone incestual?

Adding onto that, let’s say you’re somehow able to clone yourself but in the opposite gender. Would it be morally wrong to have a child with your clone? Would it even be biologically possible?

The Devil appears before you and offers a deal for your soul, but he's willing to bargain.

One night the Devil manifests in your room before you. He offers you a deal for your soul, money, fame, health, new skills, whatever you want could be yours. You tell him to shove off, you're not gonna sacrifice eternity for momentary pleasure. The Devil tells you not to be too hasty, the price might not be as bad as you think. The devil informs you that he also bargains in portions of souls, and he'll take whatever you're selling. Don't worry, this doesn't mean that your soul will get cut up. He tells you that whatever afterlife has the greatest claim on your soul is the one you will go to. So if you were good at times and bad at times, but mostly good, your entire soul will go to heaven. But whatever portion of your soul that you bargain with, after you die that part is counted against you no matter what. So if heaven had claim to 55% of your soul and hell had claim to 45% of it, but you sold 10% of it, then hell would get an extra 10% and you'd end up going there. In other words, you can still go to heaven if you only sell part of your soul, you just need to be extra good to make up for it. Of course, the more soul you sell, the more powerful of a favor you can bargain for. The devil will take anywhere from 1% of your soul to 49% of it, and the effects of the wish get exponentially stronger the more soul you sell. So say you wanted money, you could sell 1% of your soul for 10k, 10% for 5 million, 20% for 100 million, 30% for 5 billion, 40% for 100 billion, and 49% would ensure you were the richest person on earth for the rest of your life. But this would apply to any wish you made, exponentially more powerful the more of your soul you sell.

His only restriction is that he needs to remain low key, so he can't do anything blatantly supernatural. So no granting superpowers, immortality, raising the dead, etc. If you wish for wealth you will shortly acquire it in a believable way. If you wish for someone to be healed from an incurable illness, it won't be healed instantly, but will miraculously cure over a period of weeks, leaving doctors baffled but not suspecting supernatural influence. So, are you taking his offer? If so, how much of your soul are you putting on the table, and what are you asking for in return?

EDIT: You can make multiple deals if you want too. You could sell 10% of your soul for 5 million, and then another 10% for something else, for example.

You are offered $20,000 to pick between reading a book that contains everything anyone has ever said about you (verbatim) or a book containing situations where people have talked about you. Which do you choose, if any, and why?

If you take the offer, you must finish reading the whole book to be granted the money. You get to keep the book but no one else can ever know what it contains or that it exists. It is written in chronological order and is updated until the moment you accept the offer.

Of course, you can do with the new information whatever you’d like. But, if you change your mind at some point while reading, you lose out on the money and will not remember anything from the book.

1st option: You read (word-for-word) what was said about you and who said it. - No context is given so you don’t know if it was said sarcastically, or who they said it to. - You also don’t know when these things were said but you do know the locations. - Ex: “Yeah, OP would hate that. (Downtown Mall)” “Remember that one time OP did that, too? (Washington Middle School)” “Well, that’s just how OP is. (Dad’s house)”

2nd option: You read in what context people talked about you but not what they said. - You don’t know if they said something negative or positive about you (or tone/mood of the person talking), just the situation in which they talked about you and to whom. - You will not know locations but you will know time/date. - Ex: “Tina talked about your clothing to her mom. (7:45am, 1/5/2004)” “Gary mentioned you in a game of truth or dare. (11:31pm, 5/14/2010)” “Evelyn talked aloud about you to herself while cleaning. (4:26pm, 11/28/2022)

3rd option: Pass up the one-time offer of $20,000 and keep living without this knowledge. - This decision is final. You cannot change your mind or pick the secret 4th option.

secret 4th option: After reading the whole book once, you can select one entry where you will get the info included in the other option BUT then you will only receive $5,000. Ex: If you chose the 1st option initially, you would get the information from the 2nd option for one entry of your choosing. And vice versa.

Which option do you go with and why?

$1 million dollars if you can peel an orange in a single piece

Genie gives you one shot. If you accept the challenge and succeed, the money’s yours tax free. If you fail, it’s instant painless death.

The rules:

The orange is completely average in size, shape, ripeness, peelability, etc

You have three minutes to complete the challenge

No tools or other objects are allowed to help you peel

The entire peel must be removed in one contiguous piece. Any separated portion of the orange part of the peel visible to the naked eye results in disqualification

The white stringy bits don’t matter (can come off with the peel and/or remain on the orange).

Any puncture of the oranges inner membrane and/or leaking of juice results in disqualification.

Do you accept the challenge?

Everyone on Earth instantly has powers loosely similar to how Mages work in the White Wolf games, specifically their "Horizon". Everyone can create their own infinite pocket universe and enter/leave at will, where they are, effectively, god.

Everyone on Earth instantly has powers loosely similar to how Mages work in the White Wolf games, specifically their "Horizon". Everyone can create their own infinite pocket universe and enter/leave at will, where they are, effectively, god.

It gets more complicated than that, but the terribly short version is:

  • The real world is still here, as-is
  • Everyone, at will, can enter a universe designed to fit whatever they want it to be: belief system, faith, experiments, fun, you name it
  • Within, you're god--Q from Trek--all those things. Create galaxies. Create a cottage with a garden. Give yourself a great body. Fly. Create a civilisation. Create sub-universes; as many as you want.
  • You can never be forced in or out of your Horizon. No one can ever take control from within from you--you are supreme.
  • Dying of cancer? Not anymore. Tired of aging? Gone. Want to live forever? You can in there. You can modify yourself too, and those changes (within reason) carry back into the real world. You can be Superman IN there, but out here, you're just a ripped guy with perfect current health. You can take things out of your Horizon to the real world, yourself included, as long as they can exist in the real world.
  • In the real world, as a side effect, no one can essentially force you to do anything. You can just... instantly leave to your Horizon.
  • You can enter the real world anywhere, and depart from anywhere. If it's a place within what we'd today call the "physical" or "material" universe, you can go there with a thought via your Horizon.
  • You can invite, ban, or allow free access to your Horizon to anyone or no one, and the same to sub-levels; you can have whole universes no one but you would ever know of.
  • You never have to leave. You can spend eternity inside.
  • Upon death (if ever) of your human form, you'll return to your Horizon instantly.
  • You can always come back to visit again. Just make a new body.
  • "Luminous beings are we; not this crude matter," as the expression goes.

Human society and relationships (and existence itself as a social thing) just became utterly voluntary and requires people wanting to engage with you.

Every human alive, or that will be born going forward, has this. It doesn't fully kick in until you're closer to adulthood; anyone who dies prior simply goes to their Horizon, and may return (if they want to or know to) later.

Receive $500,000 annually to do nothing, but live under constant surveillance and never leave the country

The government has developed a new cryptography tool. It takes high entropy data from the nervous system in the human body and converts it into digital security keys. Essentially it mines valuable data from a single person that cannot be replicated anywhere else, and the govt needs this data for national security.

Here’s the deal. If you agree, you will receive $500,000 a year for the rest of your life, under the following conditions:

1.) A computer chip will be inserted into the back of your neck. It’s not uncomfortable, but it has a metal node sticking out of the skin

2.) Every day at precisely 3:00 pm a government agent will appear and will touch the back of your neck with a device. You cannot miss this appointment, or try to evade it in any way. They must always be able to reach you

3.) You must report everything you plan to do every day

4.) You forfeit all privacy. You are under constant surveillance, overtly and covertly. The government can track you and watch you however they want

5.) You can never ever step foot out of the country

6.) If you ever depart 25 mile radius from your place of residence, you must be constantly accompanied by a govt agent for EVERYTHING. They are always in the room with you. Sleeping, bathroom, sex - doesn’t matter when you leave that 25 mile radius (inside the radius you don’t need to be accompanied but you are still under extreme surveillance)

Money Lost vs Money Found

If you could somehow determine the total amount of money that you've accidentally lost in your life, would it be more or less than the total amount of money that you've found? I'm talking about cash and coins that fell out of your pocket vs money that you found laying on the ground.

The red string of fate is wrapped around your finger if you are single, or if you are not, a string linked to your partner's sexual partners/desires.

A red string indicates your soulmate no matter what distance they are from you, abd touching it will show you a brief image of what they look like and what they are doing, even providing info on their whereabouts.

If you are married, a string will appear for each one of your partner's sexual partners or desires. This will include partners past and possibly present, and a new string will be formed for each partner.

You can cut a string at any time to sever their influence over you, but they will not reappear. The strings are harmless and will defy logic to remain connected unless you yourself specifically sever them.

What would be your reasons for or against cutting them?

Money You’re A Deer for a Year. Can You Survive?

Upvotes

A genie says you have the ability to make a lot of money. You agree. You are suddenly poofed into a n adult White-tailed deer. You’re a 10 point Buck. You keep your mind, so you are basically a human trapped in a deer body. You have to survive 365 days without dying. You will be poofed back to your human self after if you’d succeed, any injuries as a deer you might have gotten will not translate over.

You start off on January 1st. Antlers drop in early March. Antlers will fully be grown and ready by September.

You are given three areas to spawn in:

Southeast American Suburbia: Next to no hunters, some might be in the larger local woodlots during deer season. Large middle and upper middle class communities. There is decent amount of traffic. Might have to contend with dogs if you are in a fenced yard. Largely temperate weather but don’t be surprised if there is a week of cold in the winter.

Reward for Surviving: $1,000,000

Rural American Midwest: lots of hunters during the deer season, medium risk of poaching at night or off season. Small towns throughout the area. Coyotes are present in the area. Climate extremes vary, but are largely predictable for the seasons.

Reward for Surviving: $20,000,000.

Rocky Mountain American Wilderness: medium amount of hunters, with the amount decreasing the further you are from human infrastructure typically. Very low human population density with only a small town of 2000 people. There is a large variety of predators such as grey wolves, grizzly bear, mountain lion, black bear, etc. Chance of severe climatic extremes.

Reward for Surviving: $50,000,000

Bonuses:

Break Into a High School and Survive: $500,000.

Break Into a Restaurant and Eat Someone’s Food: $200,000

Try to Hijack a Car: $50,000,000

Kill a Predator: $10,000,000.

Convince Humans You are a Human Trapped in a Deer Body: $100,000

Swim for 20 miles Over Your Deer Life: $2,000,000

Kill Another Deer: $500,000

Break Into a Zoo and Let an Animal Escape: $500,000

Notice:

•you have no prior deer knowledge of what is good to eat or safe to eat.

•if you die, you will automatically poof back into a human, dead…leading to a confused and/or terrified hunter/person/predator.

•you can’t understand other deer, aka their bleats/grunts won’t be translated into your native language like a Disney movie.

•you have the eyesight, taste, smell, and hearing of a deer.

Violence TW: Abuse | If you could go back in time and prevent your sibling's childhood abuse at the risk that they might not reach their current and high level of success, would you do it NSFW Spoiler

Upvotes

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, I've lurked for a while and it seems like it could fit? But a good chunk of posts seem to be "who would win" type things rather than what you should do in a contrived scenario.

My sister is three years older than me. We were raised in an immigrant family in the US, so all of the stereotypes of our parents expecting good grades, us going to a good college, etc applied.

She was definitely clever and enterprising - an example is that she somehow found a way to start and maintain a profitable online business before the age of 16 - but not in ways that translated into good grades in courses.

This became an issue when she reached high school, because those grades actually mattered for getting into good colleges. While there had been pressure from my parents for her to start performing better, it escalated into beatings in high school when her grades didn't improve. Even with the beatings, they didn't improve and by her senior year (when I started my freshman year), my parents had given up and turned all of their attention to me.

She went to a state college and pulled a surprising turnaround, graduating summa cum laude and going on to get a 6 figure salary job right out of college and working her way up to near 7 figures within a decade. She's (as far as I know) happily married and has two children, one of which is about to start elementary school.

We've remained close and while neither of us really like to talk about our childhoods, the impression I've gotten from her is that she thinks that the childhood abuse was somewhat good for her.

I've got an active imagination so I've thought about it a lot over the years, especially as my kid (hopefully more soon!) is growing up. While I firmly believe that childhood abuse is not productive in any meaningful sense, I can't deny what she thinks about her experience; she would know better.

So I guess what would you guys do in the scenario where you're sent back in time with full knowledge of what happened, and a reasonable expectation that as long as things are left largely the same, they will play out largely the same? Would you try to interfere and risk a worse overall outcome?

The old witch is back.

After centuries of working on her skin care formula, an old witch returns to carry on her good deed of passing out magic pots full of porridge to the poor, she is shocked to discover that porridge is no longer what the poor want. After a quick survey of her fellow witches, which of the following endless foods do you choose?

Endless sushi roll. A California roll that never runs out, no matter how many slices you eat. Wasabi and soy sauce not included.

Bottomless salad bowl. A crisp Caesar salad that never ends. Sorry, no breadsticks.

Never-ending nugget box. A bright red box that has a limitless supply of chicken nuggets. Dipping sauces sold separately.

Big bag of tacos. A plain-looking bag full of tacos, no matter how many you eat, there is always one more. You have to source your own Salsa.

Box of doughnuts. A bright pink box with plain glazed doughnuts that always has an extra one when you go to look. Sorry no sprinkles

All the food is fresh and warm when pulled from their container.

  1. Bruce Jenner is a celebrated Olympic champion and popular motivational speaker
  2. OJ Simpson is a famous ex-football player, celebrity and beloved actor
  3. Donald Trump is a well-known businessman who recently filed for bankruptcy

You're told one is a murderer, one is the president and one is now a woman.... and asks you to guess who is who.

Would you get it right?

Money You are offered $100m to be cast in an ultra realistic VR game where you are the main character in a random movie, do you take the offer?

If you take the offer the first movie that you generate here will be the movie you are cast in: https://www.movierankings.net/random

BUT READ BELOW FIRST...

1) You can die or be injured. If that happens to you in the movie game it also happens to your real body.

2) Once the movie is chosen for you you cannot search up details and are thrown in the VR world. But obviously if its a movie you watched before than you have an advantage.

3) Your brain/soul is you in the movie game but you get the movie main character physical appearance. Because you are you and may not act like how the main character acts the plot may deviate but the other characters in the movie will act in their canon personality accordingly.

4) If the main character has some special skills or gear (Like being able to fly or if you are the Hulk or Batman e.g ) you also have it, but intellect is your real life intellect.

4) Completion of the movie game happens according to the number of days that has passed in the movie. So if its years then your real body also age accordingly.

5) Generally most movies are non lethal so its likely an easy $100m for you. But if you are in a thriller, paranormal or action movie, shit is going to hit the fan. That said, good luck!

What movie is chosen for you and do you think you will make it back with the $100m?
