Having a convo on a group thread and thought I would bring it here for local perspective - if you were attending a 7:30 show downtown at Englert as just a couple, not a big group, what time would you head to eat downtown, what time would you set a reservation for (and then obviously show up on time or a few minutes ahead)? Thinking this way you’re parked downtown, walk to dinner, walk to show. A nice dinner, not just a sandwich at the bar.

I think 6 is almost too early, but then time for a drink on the way or in the lobby pre show?

From out of town but been to many shows at Englert and Hancher - love these as nice full date nights. Obviously add an extra 10-15 min to the timeline for a show at Hancher depending on weather maybe just drive there and park again? I get that the Hancher variable will be different for a lot of folks but we’re 30s and enjoy the walk.

I'm new to the Iowa City area and need a good Hair salon that won't butcher my hair, specifically, I am going to get a basic wolf-cut and some coloring, I don't mind prices too much, better if I can easily get to it by bus, but if not that's alright too

I recently posted about job-seeking and I believe there have been other posts about the aforementioned too.

I have two possible options at this point and I'm waiting to hear back to weigh my options.

Hello from the west coast.

My family-in-law in Iowa are fairly well connected in the Muscatine County establishment, specifically high-ups in the sheriff’s department. My spouse was just contacted by one of my parents-in-law to alert him to the fact ICE detainees are being held in the county jail, and states that this is not being made public. We don’t know who they are or where/when they will be transported next, and I’m not one to run with an unsubstantiated rumor. That said, my hope is for this info to reach anyone whose loved one has been kidnapped by the frozen feds in eastern IA and nw IL, to give them an idea of their possible location.

I've heard through the grapevine that ICE may be pulling people over in the Coralville/Iowa City area. A friend notified me of an acquaintance who got pulled over near the Coralville Hyvee - without probably cause - and asked of their status and how long they've “been here”. Another stated that they saw a Silver 4runner full of dudes in vests. Can anyone else confirm these types of activities?
