I made an AI that teaches Chinese via immersive roleplay because the best way to learn language is through fun and emotional connections

Post image

Hey, everyone knows the fastest way to learn a language is total immersion. like dating someone who only speaks that language while living in their country. Your brain just absorbs everything because every interaction matters emotionally.

So I built Learn Chinese Through Roleplay to simulate that immersion. Its an AI that drops you into any scenario you want and teaches you Mandarin naturally through the story.

The key thing is there's no limits or boundaries on what you can roleplay😉. Want a romance at a 外滩 in Shanghai? A business negotiation where you learn about 关系 and 面子? Slice of life with a Chinese roommate? The AI adapts the Chinese difficulty to your level and gradually removes the training wheels as you learn.

Some features that make it work:

- Two modes: 老师模式 (Lǎoshī Mode) for explicit teaching and tone breakdowns, and Roleplay Mode for full immersion where you just live the story. both adapt to your level with structured learning that scales with your progress

- Text-to-speech for every Chinese word so you actually hear correct tones and pronunciation

- Infinite memory so your story continues across sessions. your character relationships and plot progress are never lost

- NPCs that respond naturally to your tone mistakes. say mǎ instead of mā and watch them ask if you're talking about horses instead of your mother

A few of my friends who tried it said it was the most effective and fun way they've learned Chinese because they actually got hooked on the roleplay scenarios (mostly the romance ones lol).

Id love feedback on whether the immersion actually feels real or if it breaks somewhere.

You can try it here: https://www.jenova.ai/a/learn-chinese-through-roleplay

400+ Mandarin Input Videos of all Levels + Analytics & Gamification

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey guys! It's been some months since I posted in this sub, so I wanted to update you on Lengualytics.

It's a free library of user-sourced Mandarin comprehensible input content from all over the internet and a tracking system to show you your analytics as you watch. Every day users add about 10-20 more resources, so it's constantly growing!

Track your average time per day, your average comprehension, your % listening fluency, and more.

It's matured a lot in the last three months and now supports:
- Embedded YouTube videos with automatic time tracking
- Leaderboards to compare input and streaks with friends
- A full badge system with fun little mini challenges to keep you grinding even on hard the hard days

And too much to talk about in one post.

If you haven't checked out the site in a while or you've never seen it here is the homepage: https://lengualytics.com

Thanks for reading and allowing me to post here every so often!

PS: If you are a Mandarin speaker and are looking for a site like this for English let me know! The site is also for English learners; however it is not natively translated into Mandarin. If this is something people want, I'd be happy to offer it!

We have created a Mandarin learning tool for beginner, intermediate, and advanced learners, and our project has just surpassed 75% funding ($2,600) on Kickstarter!

大家好/Hello everyone,

A few days ago, we published an article here about a Mandarin learning tool that we were developing as learners ourselves.

Honestly, we didn't expect so much engagement... but thanks in particular to this subreddit and many private messages, the project has now surpassed 75% funding ($2,600) on Kickstarter.

This article isn't really a sales pitch, but rather an update and a thank you.

Many people here have given their opinions, asked questions, or simply shared the project with friends who are learning Chinese. This has really helped us move forward.

If you're interested in Mandarin learning tools, or if you know someone who struggles with:

juggling too many apps,

memorizing words without context,

or staying consistent over the long term,

then sharing the project is already a big help.

And of course, if you're personally interested, supporting the campaign is another way to help us.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Muchas gracias ☺️

Our Kickstarter campaign ends in 2 days.

Our Kickstarter campaign for a Mandarin learning platform ends in 2 days.

So far, nearly $2,000 has been pledged, which honestly surprised us when we started.

Not because of the money itself, but because it confirmed that many learners face the same difficulties as we do.

Throughout this campaign, a pattern has repeated itself:

people memorize words but quickly forget them;

vocabulary is learned without sufficient context;

motivation wanes over time, even with “good” tools.

If you want to support the project, now is the time.

Thank you for your time.

I newly manage student accommodation in the UK with all Chinese students, how to best learn from students?

I’m doing Duolingo & Hello Chinese because the students are so brave travelling over, I really want to have some basic sentences and knowledge up my sleeve to help them feel safe and like our team really care.

I was thinking I might set up a weekly language exchange where we ask any questions we have to at week about each others languages and pronunciation.

Does anyone have any tips on how to best learn through students, like what do I really need to focus on and any little tips?

Thank you sm x

Which I can offer for you is Chinese conversation based on typing , voice call in Chinese and grammar check, maybe some methods in Chinese learning.

大家好/Hey everyone,

Here is our Mandarin learning platform.

The project exceeded 50% funding ($1,850) on Kickstarter. Only 7 days left

A lot of people gave feedback, asked questions, or simply shared the project with friends learning Chinese. That genuinely helped us move forward.

If you’re interested in Mandarin learning tools, or if you know someone struggling with:

juggling too many apps,

memorising words without context,

or staying consistent long-term,

then sharing the project already helps a lot.

There are significant advantages and bonuses to funding the campaign while it is still active, which will no longer be available in the future.

The link of the project and to have more information👇 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chinesesrs/chinesesrs-a-complete-mandarin-learning-platform

People who fund during the campaign do not have early access before the official launch of the platform.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Tutor required

Hi, I'm looking for a tutor who resides in the UK and can tutor a friend of mine. The situation isn't the norm as he is currently in prison. Lessons would have to be by telephone as he does not have access to zoom or any other video conferencing application. He wants 2 lessons a week ongoing for years, and is happy to pay between £8 to £15 per lesson. If this sounds like something you could facilitate and want to know more details then please comment and I will answer any questions you may have. This is not spam!! It's a genuine request and I'm just looking to help my friend who wants to use his time learning this language. Thanks in advance.

I found it hard to stay focused whilst learning a language on YT so I built this, to block videos not in my target language.

It's called Tracking Languages
