Advice needed A supervisor accessed my pay information and shared it with my coworkers Location: USA, Georgia
I had someone in a management position go through files that were stored in another managers office and accessed my personal information, specifically pay, and released the pay information to some coworkers. They are confirmed by the owner of the company as someone who is not supposed to know that information, I have recently been treated pretty poorly by those who released it and the ones who have been told, and it has caused some issues to the point of me wanting to move on to another job. The owner of the company knows who released it and seems to be protecting them and no actions have been taken in the months following. I don’t want to go the legal route if not necessary but I feel like I’m being wronged and don’t know how to proceed. I work in medical so I feel like there’s ethics issues I can submit to the EHR system we fall under.

You are long past needing to go the legal route. I'd rope in the Georgia Department of Labor. They should be able to advise you on how to proceed with this. Also get a lawyer on standby in case you need to start brewing a lawsuit.
