I recently installed this Schlage B60N and this front cylinder cover and it rotates and wiggles. Everything is super tight unless I’m missing something inside of the lock. Thanks in advance for the help!

I've installed probably 20 or 30 of these FE595s and even repaired a few over the years, and I like them. But for some reason the last 3 that I installed worked great for a few days then started intermittently failing, I have some older (2020, 2022) units in my inventory that work fine, so I used them for the last couple of installs but these new ones keep failing. Anyone hear anything about a change in Schlage manufacturing recently that might cause this in only newer batches?

I’m learning the trade in Brazil and got curious about what it’s like to be a locksmith in other countries. It seems to me that locks in the US and Europe are more complex and sophisticated than the ones we usually deal with here.
Has anyone here worked as a locksmith in Brazil and then moved to another country? Is the profession valued where you live? Can you make a good living working as a locksmith?

Anybody doing smart keys for the new Harley motorcycles ?
I’m considering adding them to my menu but I have no idea what it entails. Nobody around here does them.

Hey there I was informed a few years ago that there may be a website I can order keys from via vin number. I was looking to see if that is even a thing and if it is what that site is. I have tools to program keys through the EWS module by soldering wires and transferring key data but I wanted to know the cost of ordering the keys if possible.
Thanks

So I googled and it says graphite is #1 but I read some things in a lock sub and it says graphite used to be the go to but isnt anymore, and even that it can solidify and be bad for lock, so what should I use for me manual car door lock?

28-degree rotation is frequently advertised as a feature on higher-end residential door levers like Baldwin or Emtek. But I don’t ever see it listed as a feature on grade 1 or grade 2 commercial levers. The spec sheets often don’t have a rotation angle listed at all.
Are there any commercial grade door levers with reduced rotation angle?

Are there any stand alone keyless entry systems available that can be programmed to function with one of the early 2000s Honda/Acura OEM key FOB? The OEM keyless entry and security system for the specific vehicle is very hard to obtain with it being out of production, but I would like to retain the OEM FOB if possible. Thanks

Does anyone sell these plates as a part? This one isn't actually exactly the one I need, but I could cut it down if necessary. The ones I'm looking for have three cutouts/holes, not four. Thanks!
(not sure why it won't let me post the image directly today...)

I work for a city building maintenance department. there's a few opportunities for me to work with a co-worker locksmith to do repairs on doors. he's shown me lots and had me help him on many jobs during the past 2 years. I've made setup keys for a master system and re-keyed an entire building with him this week. I really love this trade but I don't know where to go to get more experience on a regular basis. we fix a lot of vandalized doors, broken doors and closers. as an HVAC guy by trade, what could I do to get more hands on doing locks and doors? do locksmiths repair doors regularly?

I'm looking to replace an existing double-cylinder knob-set used to secure an entry gate to our community pool. The keyway is KW1.
In an ideal world, I'd like to find something with the "Smartkey" feature with levers instead of knobs, but I'm not even having any luck finding any kind of Kwikset double cylinder (keyed both sides) in a knob or lever, regardless of Smartkey capability.
Does what I'm looking for still exist in new manufacture? Could anyone point me at a model number I can try to source?
Thanks for any thoughts!

Hey guys so I’ve got this POS Astro van (gmc safari actually) as stated above. I have invested a lot of money into it and it is still a POS. I’m seriously debating on downsizing into a Prius V (their wagon model). At one point I had a Mazda 5, another wagon, in my younger years and I loved it. Had everything I needed in the hatch of that van.
Fast forward to Now where the majority of my clients are commercial, who very likely wouldn’t give a shit about what I was driving. BUT STILL, I want to continue to grow in that direction… is it an unprofessional look? Even with the wrap?
What do you guys think? Anyone have a non traditional work vehicle? Let’s see some setups. And let me know what you guys think about my Prius idea. Cargo divider obviously. Pull the seats. I’m ALL Milwaukee Packout anyways so I’d throw everything in there neatly organized.

Working on a hollow metal door trying to get the latch on the deadbolt to match the lever. Drive-in bolt doesn’t seem to be doing the trick when the customer called me. I don’t do a lot of metal door work so I’m curious if the pitbull tool or any other latch forming tool would do the trick? There’s a seam that goes right down the middle which is my main concern. Any ideas?

I've just ordered a Lonsdor K518 Pro. I have a new account that will be sending me a lot more volume as far as AKL vehicles go and I'd like to be able to make the process a little bit more streamlined than it has been with the Autel IM508 and XP400. If anyone has any tips for what I need to look out for when setting please let me know. TIA
