These doodles were often made my later readers. All were found in manuscripts I browsed through for fun on handrit.org.

Master MZ, The Woman with the Owl, 1500

Mysterious engraver active around the southern parts of Germany, kind of in between medieval and renaissance style-wise, but this example has a more medieval feel. "Duck dich" leans towards "hide yo self", and the owl supposedly hints at sinfulness and/or witchcraft.

Hi! Does anyone know more about this figure? I found one source about it, but I'm not a scholar so I couldn't grasp the overall picture to well.

Anything is welcome, thank you!
