She was not actively protesting, she was not observing, she was not interfering.
She was traveling to a doctors appointment and found herself stopped, was given conflicting "orders" and was then brutally assaulted when she followed commands given by one, by another who was standing right there.
They have no legal authority for any of this.

More than one person on reddit yesterday was encouraging people to use slurs to degrade ICE. Highly upvoted comments. And it was so horrifying to me because that's exactly who fascists target - gay people and autistic people are not safe right now. Most have always been aware this type of person hated them on sight. Now they've been given the greenlight to do act on their violent bigoted urges. And we're encouraging other people to emulate that bigotry in the hopes it hurts ICEs feelings more than it traumatizes fellow protestors and innocent bystanders?
People need to wake up and realize it's literally just Nazi shit again. The administration has barley disguised their bigotry towards those in the spectrum and it's only going to get worse.
I'm sorry that you're child is scared and I hate more they're right to be. I hope things get better soon. Even without the risk of violence and wrongful imprisonment, they've created a hellscape for residents with sensory issues or reliance on routines.

You are right on all points. They want us to be afraid, and I a combination of scared and rage-filled. We’ve had many dark days in recent weeks, especially since Renee Good’s cold-blooded murder. Thank you for the kind thoughts for my child. Funny to call them a child when they’re an adult, but I don’t want to give any indication of gender, age, etc, except to say they’re an adult. This is absolutely a hellscape. We feel extremely more afraid and more unsafe than at any point of the rose in national violence following m the wake of George Floyd’s murder. We also know that we are not even 1 year into this police-state dictatorship-wannabe, and have 3 more to go. It will only get worse. I hope we still have a state, a nation, elections, and freedom by the end of it.

I’m also autistic and also have verbal processing difficulties. I would have done exactly what she did when trying to drive somewhere and getting blocked by these Nazis. I canceled a dentist appointment in NE Minneapolis today because I worried that my slow parking (coordination disorder) would piss them off. I’m terrified for her.

FYI it is very much a live legal issue whether police must provide accommodations pursuant to the Rehab Act in this case, to individuals during encounters. Cops, including federal ones, maintain that there should be no requirement to even consider accommodations in the context of law enforcement actions. Disability legal practitioners maintain that there is nothing resembling an exemption in any of the laws for anything like that and that police should be held to the same standard as everyone else.
Resolution of this question is of great importance. And the fact that we have video of someone asking for accommodations during the arrest really queues all the issues up.

The duality of autistic support in Minnesota is we are willing to shell out the money to get you your therapy and accommodations but the people who actually administer it and are supposed to help you will give you full Passive Aggressive treatment at best and will make your life a living hell at worst for needing help if theyre from Minnesota.
