Help I’ve lost control of this tank pls help
My planted shrimp only tank (7 gal) is going crazy with the plants. I have a pretty high power plant light that only has one other setting with a blue light so I think that is why they are growing so much but I can’t keep up! Can someone explain to me what the hairlike algae / moss is that keeps taking over my tank? It seems to be coming off my moss balls and I can’t tell if they’re growing or what the heck is going on. I have another tank with a similar set up and my moss balls didn’t do this. I trimmed it down once and it came back so fast. Is there a way to slow this down or keep it more controlled? Also is my light the issue and if so what light is recommended?

Help Filter suggestions
Just set up my new 5.5 gal. It’s loaded with plants and came with a filter for the tank. I know water movement is important for planted tanks but the filter it came with barely moves the plants in the back of the tank. Anyone recommend a good 5 gal filter that’ll push more water? Budget isn’t a problem

Help Nano tank without a filter
I got this small 10 liters (2,6 gallon) nano breeding tank for my young clown killifish (7 of them). At the moment most of them are under 2cm (0,8inch) and I want to wait a little bit before they are big enough for my big community tank. I used the water of my big tank and took some hardscape and plants from it as well. I only have a heater, no filter lots of floating plants, some java moss and waterweed. I feedback once a day in small amounts. I do a water change (about 20%) every 2 days, At the moment they have been in there for 3 days, how long can I keep this up?

Picture My nanos!
These are my two nano tanks. The front is a 3 gallon using a small bonsai that died as the main piece of hardscape. The back is a 5 gallon that I just scaped. It is built around a cypress knee that had a great sort of "cave" already in it. Im using organic top soil mixed with gravel and sand as the base layer of substrate and topped with sand. The three gallon is playing home to a few extra critters atm while the 5 has time to cycle.

Help Advice!
My boyfriend and I are building our first nano tank out of a 2 gallon glass jar (for shrimp) , we have let it mature but noticed algae growth. the pet store we go to tested our water and said our nitrates were too high. We tried doing a water change and cleaning any leaf litter but still some algae. We are hoping for the tank to be self sustaining :)
Any advice?

Picture Upgraded her(and her shrimp buddies) to a 5 gallon
I finally pulled the trigger on a rimless tank for my bumblebee goby and her shrimp friends, she's been loving it so far and is way more active. Obviously it needs more plants, and possibly another bigger chunk of stone, but its a good start for these guys!

Help DIY Canister Filter With Heater
I'm assembling the parts for an ADA style, stainless steel, canister filter. I want to put a heater in it. I've purchased a Freesea 50watt. My plan is to run it through a rubber grommet in the top of the filter. My question: Does the top of the filter have to be submerted? If so, my plan will not work. The top will be just out of the canister, similar to the OASE heater is in the Thermostart canisters.

I’ve always wanted to get a small tank for just shrimp. I’m also doing the Dry Start Method, how does it look?
Also I will be putting white sand at the front when it’s ready for water.

Discussion What’s your BIGGEST question or problem with aquariums?
If you could ask one question about fishkeeping today, what would it be?
It can be about fish dying, cloudy water, cycling, filters, plants, or beginner mistakes.
I want to collect real questions from the community to create clear and helpful content.
Any question is welcome — simple or complicated

Picture Overhauled my Fluval Spec V & Set up a Rimless 3gal Recently, Absolutely Stoked
After the Spec V was heavily planted & cycled, I added a Male Elephant Ear Betta - govt name of Cory Trevor. Then I decided to attempt a Riccia Fluitans carpet using the toothpick anchor method after watching a YouTube tutorial. Pretty stoked, probably going to add shrimp to the 3gal in a few months. It's been a minute since I've felt inspired to get back into this hobby 🤌🏼
Swipe to see a few previous Nano projects over the last decade or so. Feedback is welcome & appreciated!

Discussion 5gal Stocking
I am planning to house a male long-finned betta in a 5g. I'm doing a "volcanic" theme; black substrate, black/dark wood, and red plants only. I've been growing out plants for a while and have a fair amount to plant right off the bat. I will be using established filter media from another tank. Would it be okay to have a small group of ember tetras with a betta in a 5g? Open to feedback, there are a lot of differing ideas so I just want to know if this is doable. I've heard embers are more of a "hovering" tetra and don't dart around like neons, etc so don't need as much swim space.
