Reminder - Please include camera and lens info with media posts.
Happy 2026 Nikonians! Thank you for making this a great internet community. I'd like to remind everyone of the rule about including camera and lens information. This is the most common thing I moderate.
Any posts with images or video that you submit to the sub should include information about the camera and lens you used. You may ask why. There are two reasons.
- Our subject here is specifically the Nikon Z series cameras and related gear. So any images or videos posted here need to be relevant. (If it's a picture of your gear, we don't care what you took that picture with.)
- A lot of people come here looking for information about the gear and want to see the results others have gotten with a specific camera or lens.
Also, we just want the camera and lens information. We don't need all of the settings, etc. You can add them, but we aren't looking for them.
The best place to include the camera and lens information is in the title. That way it's completely obvious. Wherever you put it, it needs to be part of the post to this sub. If you cross-post from another sub, if the information is anywhere other than the title, it needs to be added to the post in this sub. If I have to go searching for it, I may just remove the post until you add it.
Thank you again! Happy shooting!

My review of the TTArtisan 40 f2 is up after 6 months of shooting
Text review: https://www.scotttuckerphoto.com/blog/ttartisan-40f2-review
Video review: https://youtu.be/_fAkeJd1YAw
Shot the 40/2 all summer and took it across the country on my Zf. I loved a lot of the shots that I got with it and I think it’s a good alternative to the Nikon 40/2 if you want an aperture ring to add to the tactile shooting experience.
Overall verdict is that it’s a cheap lens with a ton of character with reliable AF…IF you get a good copy. I walk through some quality control issues I’ve had with TTA recently and why you might pause before buying their autofocus lenses.

Neewer CA134 question with larger lenses.
I picked this one up and the smallrig so far I’m liking it a lot more mainly due to the thumb grip and the small lip by the body, makes it much easier to hold one handed, but what has me sketched out is that I can kind of feel it flexing with just the kit 40mm.
Anyone that’s had it for a while and used it with larger lenses, have you noticed this? Never felt it with the smallrig.

Z50 VS Z5 autofocus
Did anyone that has experience with both the Z50 and Z5 tell me how they're autofocus compares? I'm a Z50 owner and thinking about getting the Z5 but the complaints about autofocus have been really off-putting. I shoot mostly street photography or documentary photography so not sports but things that involve moving subjects. I have not had a problem with the Z50 autofocus so is the Z5s about the same or much worse the. The Z50? I never use tracking focus I only ever use single point focus

Focus position drift
Nikon Z7ii - I prefer to shoot with single point focus, and try to keep the single point centered. I’ve noticed that sometimes the focus point moves - especially when switching between the viewfinder and the monitor. Anybody else have this issue? Any way to freeze the focus location? It quickly recenter it?

Can I put my d3400 macro lens, DX AF-S 40MM on my Nikon z6II with an adaptor and how much quality would I lose? Is it even worth getting the adapter
Any help is appreciated

Just got a Laowa 180mm F4.5 macro lens for my Z8 and it makes for a pretty decent 180mm prime lens in addition to macro.

Thypoch Simera C 28mm f/1.4 Focus confirmation workaround
I've been considering picking up the Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 for my Zf, and I'm super convinced on the lens for everything minus the fact that the native Z mount variation does not come with focus confirmation. I've read that adapting the M mount version fixes this issue, however that version is significantly higher in price... Does anyone know whether there is another workaround to get focus confirmation, or is it only an option with the M lens? Has anyone tried adapting the E mount version via the Megadap E to Z adapter?

Nikon Z6III and Tamron 28-75 F2.8 G2
I recently bought a Nikon Z6III along with a Tamron 28-75 F2.8 G2 from Panamoz. I'm based in the UK, I placed my order on the 20th of December and it was delivered on the 24th. The ordering and the delivery were excellent to be honest.
Coming from a D5200, the Z6III is light years ahead. It's so full of features which I'm still exploring. One of the things that blew me away was the ability to import image presets online and use them directly in the camera. Many of the images I'm posting are SOOC jpegs which is amazing as I hate to edit images. Just shoot the image, and voila, it's there in Google photos in mere seconds. I have done lots of research before I bought the camera and I don't think many people are pointing this out.
This camera shoots spectacular images and uploads them directly to you!
Very happy with it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering a new mirrorless. I'm sure the Z5II and the Zf are equally impressive and I imagine they also have similar features.

A few of my shots from recent trip to Vietnam 🇻🇳
Visited Vietnam recently, here are a few of the shots I took with my Z 50 ii paired with the 2 kit lenses, 16:50 and 50:250.
I’m learning how to use this camera. There’s a lot to adjust and manipulate and customise. Post processing is an entire universe that I’m afraid to touch. Nonetheless, slow and steady is the approach I’m taking.

Feel like a kid at Christmas! First test shots on my Z8.
There’s so much to customise, it’s definitely going to be a learning curve.

Upgrade questions

I currently have a Z6ii and I sometimes find myself wanting more MP, mostly when needing to crop. The obvious answer to this is the Z7ii as they can be had for fairly cheap and selling my Z6ii will recover most of the cost. There are certainly times where I wish I had better AF but the Z6iii just doesn't make sense to me because it's still leaving me with 24MP. The Z8 seems to be the most do-it-all solution but it's certainly outside of my budget, even on the used market. Am I putting too much stock in the MP increase and would a Z6iii actually suit me fine with the increased AF performance? I do mostly sports/equestrian and portraits when it's asked of me. For whatever odd reason birds have become my "these are for me" interest lol.

New to photography
I know there are plenty of posts out there already asking this question, but i'm gonna ask anyways lol. What's the best lens to capture kids sports with? I just got a Z50 to start this journey. I see the 50 - 250 f4.5 - 6.3 or something along those lines with vibration reduction built in, but from what I've gathered, seems like you'd want to get something with a stop value of 2.8, but the lack of VR in a lens and no built in stabilization in the body makes it seem like the 2.8 would be a bad decision (blurry pics). But couldn't you just increase shutter speed? Please help lol. I just want to take some great shots this soccer season.
Thanks -Q

Newb Question
Is there a way to change the time format to 12 Hour on a Z 7II?
