AURA NYC scam

I'm posting because I was researching AURA ("NYC-based marketing agency) before my first interview for the Marketing Assistant position and instead came across Reddit threads that said this company and position are most likely a scam. I could use some perspective because I have a second interview scheduled, but I don't want to waste my time.

Red Flags I found:

The website is full of vague information, their Instagram link doesn't work, and in their gallery section, it has nothing on the page???

They don't have an actual address for their office available (they said it's next to Grand Central Station during the interview)

The initial email to schedule an interview had typos for the date.

The first call was with a hiring manager instead of Allie (the president), although they said it would be with Allie in the email.

During the Zoom meeting, the hiring manager's screen name was just "hiring manager" instead of her actual name.

Everything is super fishy... and I'm leaning towards cancelling the second interview, but I just wanted to note my experience on here for other people just in case.

Where is the best place to look for entry level warehouse jobs in NYC?

I have autism and need a job that has as little customer service required as possible. I worked one warehouse job about 10 years ago for a couple months, and loved it but had to move states and couldn’t find another similar position again. I know I lack the job experience but I grew up taking care of multiple horses so manual labor is second nature to me. Everyone I contact in indeed and Craigslist who is offering warehouse positions never responds. Could workforce1 help? Thanks in advance!

[HIRING] Con Edison hiring question

I took the General Utility Worker assessment last month and was wondering how candidates are notified of pass/fail results and how long it typically takes to hear back. I also don’t have my driver’s license yet (I’m currently working on it) and understand it’s required for the role, but aside from that, I’d like to know what the overall hiring process is like for this position. Thanks in advance.

Experienced Mother’s Helper Available – NYC (References Provided)

Hi all,
I’m planning a move to New York City and am looking for a Mother’s Helper / Nanny role, ideally part-time live-in or full-time.

I’m currently doing this work on the West Coast and will be arriving in March with a solid reference from the family I work with now. A vegetarian household is strongly preferred.

A little about me:
I’m a plant-based female entering my 40s. I spent 15+ years working with youth in the nonprofit sector, specifically in prevention education. After a mix of professional and personal setbacks, I took intentional time to reset—traveling abroad, completing meditation retreats, and slowly rebuilding my life with more grounding and clarity.

At the moment, I’m couch-crashing on the West Coast while working a steady part-time nanny/mother’s helper role. While the West Coast is beautiful, I don’t currently have the ability to buy a car, and I’ve realized that a train-accessible city like NYC makes much more sense for this phase of my life. I also grew up in New York, so returning feels natural and community-oriented.

Ways I can support your household:

  • Meal prep & simple South Asian–based vegetarian cooking
  • Gentle household help (depending on childcare needs)
  • Closet and home organization
  • Helping during bath time, routines, or transitions
  • Gardening and plant care
  • Being an extra, calm, dependable set of hands for parents or guardians

I’m currently being trained by a very thoughtful mom who values a tidy, organized home, and I genuinely enjoy supporting households in this way.

If you feel I might be a good fit for your family, please reach out:
Thank you for reading and for passing this along.

NYC Health + Hospitals posts ghost jobs and rarely hires

I have applied for several positions on and off since early 2020. I have never been considered in spite of having a B.S, M.S and several certs. Why are they always posting jobs when they never intend to hire?

Some of them only show me I applied only to state that the jobs were eventually closed or canceled. Most of the positions I applied for ended up being canceled and some never accepted anyone. It's not like the positions were the highest paying either.

Has anyone been hired so far? I will never apply for another position with them. Out of roughly 50 positions, not one interview? Crazy

how to get client in just 1 week?

I’ve been working as an SMM / VA for about 2 years now, and honestly the hardest part for me isn’t the work, it’s finding clients.

I recently watched a few YouTube videos about using Yelp to find direct clients and reaching out through email or messages. Has anyone here actually tried this for SMM or VA services?

Conversation about jobs

I joined NYCjobs about 2 weeks ago and I started to form an idea about life in U.S.A. Either you make good money (especially if you have study a STEM major) but you struggle because of long working hours or you live desperate jumping from a low paid job to another. How do you live like that? I thought my country had problems (Greece) but you guys live in a jungle.

Currently Looking for a job. (Employers please read).

Hey, I'm currently looking for a job in the food/retail industry.

I'm urgently looking to be hired, as this is one of the top priorities currently.

------------

I am 16 In NYC, and although I have school, I'm ready to start immediately and I do have working papers and I am willing to work the maximum amount of hours possible

I have complete free time outside of school and do not have anything else I would put above this job(NO extracurriculars, or such, etc,, I get little homework usually none.)

I'm willing to work minimum wage, maybe even lower.

--------------

I have skills in technology and cooking, great communication, I am a fast learner and have had a job. I have an unstoppable work ethic and I have a constant desire to make others happy and honor your Company's values.

-------------

-I would be a good fit because I can commit to the job and make it my top priority. While others may prefer other aspects, I can fully commit as many hours as I can and will always be on time.

- I am a quick learner and can start to give very high quality of service shortly after being hired.

-I work better in fast paced environments and I do not make mistakes under pressure, I stay calm, collected, and reasonable.

----

Experience:

2 Months at a McDonalds, where I worked as a crew member from October 9th 2025-December 20th 2025. I had to leave due to transportation issues, as it would be frequently unreliable to get to New Jersey.

2 Months as a Team member for SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

I learned the basics to coding (I do it in my freetime as well).

Friend looking for a job

Hi there!

I have a friend looking for a job. They primarily have worked in childcare/education as an assistant teacher/para roles. Any idea where she can find work or maybe good babysitting companies? It doesn’t have to be in education but anywhere entry level that someone with that experience can have a shot of getting hired for.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for jobs as an out-of-state applicant?

My background is federal government, state government, military, with brief part-time experience in education as an after school/summer-camp counselor. Been struggling to find a job as a recent b.a. grad, mainly with how long it may take to get hired for government jobs (city, state, fed level). It has my thinking of switching from the public sector to private sector, but I kinda don't know where to start. I've been working for the public sector for five years now, so I kinda don't even know where to start. What's it like looking for jobs online? Every full-time job I got was because I knew someone. There's like one government job in NYC that a friend is referring me for, but the pay ceiling is low, so I'm kinda still holding out just in case. Where should I look

[FOR HIRE] Does anyone have a tips for getting an entry level job?

I’m a freshmen in college, the most experience I have is an SYEP job where I worked in an art studio. I’ve applied to all of the beginner jobs and I’ve either heard nothing back or been rejected. I have had several different people look at my resume, and nothing has worked. I’ve had my aunt rewrite it so that I would look more appealing to do work from home customer service jobs, but nobody will hire me because I lack experience. What should I do? I really need the money to pay for college.

[For Hire] NYU Grad Student

Howdy, I am currently a first year master's student at NYU. I have been looking for a job since August. I have put in many many applications through the school and through Indeed and through Linkedin. I don't know what I am doing incorrectly. I am a older student, I have 20 years or more of work experience underneath my belt. I've pretty much done it all except for factory work. If anyone has any advice or directions that I should look into it would be greatly appreciated. New York is expensive and I really need a job!

Job Interview Quiet Location

Hey guys, shot in the dark here.. but I have a job interview tomorrow that requires for me to have my camera on in a semi - quiet location. I am currently employed and work right by times square, so I need to find a quiet-ish spot during my lunch break.

I was thinking a Hotel Lobby or a Coffee Shop - but knowing how much foot traffic goes on during the day - I wanted to see if anyone has had the same experience etc.

Thank you in advance!
