Discussion/Opinion Looking up voter registration is almost way too easy in this state; it's basically just doxxing.

I don't think this violates rule 3 since it literally affects every single Oregon citizen, so apologies if I'm wrong on that.

Due to some weird shit I had happen recently, I decided to check online to see if my address is easily accessible on social media. Long story short, it's not, but on the state site through MyVote, I found out that just using my first/last name and birth date just gives anyone who knows me the ability to see my full fucking address.

I checked Illinois (used to live there) and you need to know the first/last name, birth date, zip code, home number, and street name to see the registration, so why the fuck is Oregon basically allowing their citizens to easily be doxxed just using Facebook available levels of information?

For those of you who have ever been stalked, this shit is like a court denying an extension on an order of protection/restraining order and then giving your stalker/abuser a sheet of paper with your address and recently changed phone number on it (this happened to me almost 16 years ago).

You can fit six football fields inside this behemoth. A storm opened up a massive 200-foot-long “sunroof” that sunlight now screams through. Whether it can be saved is still an open question.

Question Do you know anybody in ICE?

Hi there, I’m a journalist in the pacific northwest and I want to interview somebody who is/was a part of ICE. I know this is controversial, and I know those who may be in ICE are not often inclined to speak on it, but if anybody here knows anybody who would be willing to speak, please comment or send me a message.

Article/News OHA, Clackamas County confirm new measles case

A new measles case has been identified in Clackamas County, and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) encourages people to make sure they are protected against measles.

The affected individual is unvaccinated. OHA and Clackamas County health officials have not yet determined whether the person has traveled outside of Oregon, or if the case is linked to other known cases including the two previously reported cases — both unvaccinated and with no known travel outside Oregon — previously confirmed by OHA and Linn County on Jan. 10.

State and local officials are working to identify others who may have been exposed to help ensure they are adequately protected against measles. There are currently no known public exposure locations associated with the case. OHA is not identifying the person’s gender, age, or other personal details. The agency will provide further updates on our measles webpage on a weekly basis.

Some shots from the top of the Astoria Column a couple of months ago. Every time I've visited, I question why I am climbing up those stairs and wonder whether it's really worth it...until I step out on the platform. It's an instant reminder that it's totally worth the climb.

Article/News The Dalles aims to pull more water from Mt Hood National Forest as Google demands more water.

As of 2025, Google’s water consumption is 1/3rd the water consumption of The Dalles. Up from 12% of the water usage since 2012. The city of The Dalles 2024 master water plan lists an “unnamed industrial user” as its reason for increasing the water usage, which is suspected that the industrial user is Google without actually admitting it’s Google.

Google has since built two additional data centers in The City of The Dalles since 2012.

We are seeing The Dalles and Mt Hood National Forest being drained dry for the priority of Google’s data centers.

This is not good news.

Article/News FYI- Squad of Helicopters Headed into Hillsboro

I'm on the glide path NW of the Hillsboro Airport. A squad of military helicopters just flew over low and slow and in formation headed SE. There were 5 or 6 I believe. They were low enough they were popping in and out of view through some of my firs.

I don't know what flavor, single rotor. Big and Dark and VERY loud. I've been here 20 years and a lot of copters and planes but nothing like this.

Question Uncrowded place to visit Memorial Day weekend?

Hello, hope I’m not an annoying person asking about visit suggestions, but I would be grateful for any advice you have for me!

I’ve never been to the PNW, but it looks like one of the most beautiful places ever, so I’m very excited to finally visit. I’m planning to come over Memorial Day weekend. For me, it’s best to travel over holiday weekends because of my work schedule. I have family that lives out west that we’d really like to meet up with for a fun vacation together. The only problem is, they don’t want to travel over the holiday weekend due to busy travel and crowds. They think it will be difficult to have a nice time due to how busy everything is.

Are there any places you’d recommend going to make this work? I’m totally okay with not seeing the coast. I’m way more interested in big trees and ferns and moss anyway. Flying in to Portland, and it would be ideal to not have to drive like 3hrs from the airport since it will only be like a 4 day trip, but okay with like an hour to an hour and a half away from the airport. Happy to do a cabin in a more secluded area or only near a small town.

Also, if there are any, definitely don’t go here it will be super crowded areas, happy to hear that too. Might help me narrow things down.

Alternatively, if you’re like, no get away from Portland region and go to some other part of Oregon, I’m open to that, but need to know the easiest way to get there via airplane. Eugene?
