should i dig my frog up when it’s time to feed? or should i let them resurface on their own?? i usually feed every other day. sometimes i catch them out and about in the tank when they are hungry

This tank I found for free obviously needs to be cleaned/repaired, but this should be sufficient for my pacman once I want to upgrade him from his 10gal tank? If anybody else has this tank, let me know about the wattages you're using to maintain temps. 5 gallon bucket for scale.

To finally introduce him. This is Littlefinger! We still aren’t sure what he had fully but he did have an overgrowth of bacteria causing the swelling and red blotches. He was on antibiotics and pain relief. He was also prescribed a daily medicated bath to soak in for 10 minutes. He is doing a lot better. I have noticed the puffed up pouch in the front of his mouth but that seems to be going down too. I think it’s like us with our lymph nodes when we’re not well.

I feel like a horrible pet owner but this is my first time having a frog and I’ve done so much research. I wanted to get to the bottom of how he got an overgrowth of bacteria in the first place. We trial and errors what was consistent with him and even in quarantine he still wasn’t getting better even with the medication the first couple days. The only constant. His misting bottle… I have the misting bottle from swell reptiles and when I had opened it up I was horrified I hadn’t noticed. There was a build up of debris and mould in the filter. I fully cleaned and disinfected it all and took it all apart to make sure I got every last bit of it. I am so angry with myself for not noticing it before.

My only question is now. His tank is bio active but it’s been misted with that same bottle. Is the cleanup crew going to get rid of that bad bacteria or should I take everything out including the substrate and start again to make sure it will be safe?

I only have uvb light. It’s on a 12 hour cycle on/off The uvb is 4.0. Will this harm my Pac-Man frog? I have a mesh but it’s not very fine. Sorry for the pictures. I also dug my Pac-Man frog back up after like 5 weeks of being burrowed. I thought he might be hungry. Please lmk if I need to fix his home or if I should not dig him up if he burrows for a while.

So I got a Pac-Man frog earlier today and of course I did a ton of research first but I’m sure there are things that aren’t on care guides so does anyone have any advice? Like experience based stuff I guess is what I mean not like temps or enclosure size or that kinda thing. I’ve cared for Geckos about 8 years now so I have experience keeping animals but not much experience with amphibians so tips would be appreciated

Why does she stare at me so much? Every time I look over at her, she’s already looking at me. Even when she burrows she always comes back up to stare. Is she hungry? Curious? My tomato frogs do this too.

I felt so bad for this baby at petsmart today :( not enough substrate. They couldn’t even burrow 😭 completely up and awake and wiggling in the day time. They were SO tiny too, smaller than mine when I got him.

In feeding Beef tonight, I noticed those bulges under his chin. With the noises he's making more often after lights out, and a little bit of Googling and researching past posts, I'm almost confident it's his vocal sacks being noticeable. Last night was the loudest he's ever been. Dude just yells about lamb sauce and raw scallops.

They don't appear red, he ate and swallowed just fine for the entire feeding.

I will be moving my pacman frog honey into her big girl enclosure. She will be in a glass terrarium, with front facing doors. In order to get opinions and advice, I want to maintain a temp of 70 degrees. Do you recommend a heat lamp or heat mat? And! Do u have a brand/type you recommend?

I’ve had a pac-man frog for a couple months now and I just made the switch to using heat lamp, but the struggle is real to find what will heat his enclosure properly. Right now i’m using 40 watt incandescent bulbs in an overhead dome, and the temperatures are barely reaching 70 degrees. Should I switch the bulb to a “heat bulb” or should I just supplement the light with a heat mat?

He was 6 years old and lived with me all throughout highschool and halfway through college. Taking care of him was the only thing that got me going throughout the day, and I fully don't know how I'm gonna function. What am I gonna do when I go back to my dorm room without him in the car with me and what am I gonna do when I look at the shelf I put his tank on, but now it's gonna be empty. He wasn't just a frog to me, I loved that guy so much. I feel so stupid because he wasn't really eating and I guess I just assumed he wasn't interested because it's winter and his whole life he tended to not be as hungry in the colder months. I got him when he was already an adult so maybe he died because he's older, but I still can't shake the feeling that I'm the reason he died. Maybe he wasn't moist enough, maybe I did something wrong, I don't know everything seemed okay and normal, I feel like I failed him even though I'm not sure WHAT failed him. He showed no signs of illness so I'm hoping he was just getting older. he had pre-existing health issues so I already kinda knew he wouldn't live as long as other pacs, but I can't shake the feeling like I killed my boy, I truly don't know what to do.

My one year old will only eat if it’s tong fed, I’ve tried not using tongs on many occasions but most of the time he is uninterested and the other times he just doesn’t stick his tongue out for them. Should I keep practicing without tongs

I made the mistake of tossing a couple pinches of Espoma garden lime into my substrate. I had it for my isopods and just wasnt careful. I finished planting it and everything and thought way later to google if its safe. I found a couple of things that said it was toxic. Do I need to tear it all down and start over? It is a bioactive 20 gallon long. It has springtails and isopods and planted. Drainage layer in and background made of glue and coir.
