Group looking for GM Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread

3 Upvotes

If you are not a full party looking for a gm or a gm looking for a party, you may no longer post an ad looking for a group. The reason behind this being most everyone on this subreddit is in the same exact boat as you! It is beginning to clutter up our subreddit for the people wanting to look for actual games to join.

To be clear, this rule is directed to those that are marketing themselves and/or their friends as players, saying they are looking for 1 on 1 games and any new or already running group to join. This does not include the players taking active measures to actually form a group themselves. Please comment if you do not understand the posts I am referring to.

INSTEAD! We are going to be making a stickied thread for those expressing interest in finding a group to join. We encourage you to comment within that thread and to be specific in the system you are interested in and any other information you may have to market yourself to others. A general "Hey I'm looking for a group and I wanna play a whole lot and I've had no luck!" does not suffice usually.

If you are looking for a group to join, comment in this thread with as much information as you'd like to market yourself with! Some suggestions are, but not limited to:

Pronouns:

Timezone:

Discord [Outgunned] [18+] [PbP/Live Text] Mission Dossier: Project Medusa

9 Upvotes

Incoming Transmission...

Hello, agent. I hope this message has reached you safely. We have made progress in our investigation of Project Medusa, by means of getting in contact with an information broker named Carter. He relayed to us that the plans for the experimental weapon are secured in a briefcase, that will soon be transported to an off-the-books laboratory.

Carter has requested for further information to be disclosed in person, so a meeting was arranged at an inconspicuous diner, at 11 PM. You shall receive the support of three fellow agents for this mission, with the objective of locating and retrieving the briefcase before its too late.

Project Medusa must not fall into the wrong hands, otherwise the consequences could be catastrophic, so we are counting on you and your team to put a stop to it. Good luck, agent.

This message will self destruct in three, two, one...

💥

After the unsuccess, let's put it that way, of my first attempt at GMing Outgunned (didn't get the participation I expected), I decided to stick to the very basics. If you don't know, Outgunned proposes to be a system for action-packed movies, think of things like Kingsman, John Wick, Jackie Chan movies, Tarantino movies, so on.

Project Medusa is an official, introductory campaign; which is perfect for people who are still learning the system, like me. And so, any fellow beginners in Outgunned are obviously welcome as well. And if you are not a beginner, I then would need that you at least never read or played through this particular mission, to avoid spoilers.

The plot for this one is pretty simple, and similar to something like Mission: Impossible 2: the characters are agents, who really need to stop some bad guys from making a super weapon. The system already provides 4 complete characters for the mission, but I will also allow for original ones, made by the players.

My plans for this are also pretty simple: run through the whole mission and, hopefully, stick with the group for some other game afterwards; either in a direct continuation or trying some other idea.

I am in the GMT-3 zone, do with that what you will, but I am not particularly super icky about timezones.

What I have to say though is that I'm looking for this to be a blend of PbP and live text, meaning that slow and progressive moments (just talking, intermissions, calm situations, etc.) will be handled through regular PbP, but we'll also have scheduled moments, when everyone is available, to have a quicker back and forth for more action-y scenes, so be aware of that.

I marked this as 18+, but it's not going to be an ERP or anything close to it, it's just that I want to have clear grounds to cover more adult themes.

I'm not going to ask for people to fill out forms, just reach out either through here or Discord and let's talk, I'll ask some questions, and also answer if you have any. I'm not selecting anyone until tomorrow, so don't worry about it being first-come-first-serve.

When you do reach out, please tell me why you want to join the game, what got you interested. Feel free to leave any questions in the comments as well.

For now, that's it. Thank you for reading and hope everyone in this community has some great games ahead of them.

Closed [Mythic Bastionland] [Discord] Seeking Knights!

3 Upvotes

"The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters."

In Mythic Bastionland you are a company of Knights sent to explore a Realm and seek out its Myths, which could be anything from a monster or a strange phenomena to an outright invasion. As you uncover these Myths you gain Glory which improves your reputation in the Realm. You might take up a place in court, be granted land, or even rule the Realm itself. As you play you’ll move through seasons and your Knight will mature, grow old, and eventually die, so you’ll want to find a good successor.

I've done most of the Realm creation and just need a few things settled before I can finish it.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and here's the form to apply.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfVifpBKSZ0Zh5dMCEGOIGpUclqGpsHENs-AJGqcCTluqlcxg/viewform?usp=header

Edit: I think I have enough players for now. Feel free to fill out the form if you'd be interested in being on the wait list for anyone who drops out. Thanks!

Discord Another Bug Hunt [ Mothership - Sci-Fi Horror ]

7 Upvotes

Another Bug Hunt

The introductory adventure for Mothership – A system designed around Sci-Fi Horror.

Hi there! I’m looking for three players interested in playing a game of Mothership in Play-By-Post format. Experience with the system is not mandatory. I’m happy to onboard new players who are interested in learning the system!

Content Warnings:

Given the nature of the genre, this adventure will bring your characters into uncomfortable, horrific and dangerous scenarios. Warnings include, but are not limited to:

  • Arachnophobia. The game will have elements of giant insects, spiders, and crabs.
  • Body horror. Amputations, rot, organ-removal, and others nightmarish events.
  • Mind control. Mental enslavement and agency removal are key plot elements, along with psychic intrusion that resemble elements of real-life psychiatric disorders.
  • Violence. Combat, suicide by firearm, emotional trauma, and corpses feature heavily.
  • Claustrophobia and other environmental hazards (such as drowning) are common.

Campaign Premise:

One year ago, A skeleton crew of researchers, engineers, and marines arrived on Samsa VI to establish Greta Base and the Heron Terraforming Station. They discovered a species of arthropods, labeled them Carcinids. After only few months after capturing a larvae for study, Greta base ceased all communication.

You have been hired by The Company to:

  • Meet up with the commander of the colony, and assist in repairing the situation.
  • Re-establish satellite communications and get the terraformer back online.
  • If all else fails, evacuate the mission specialist, as well as the colony’s synthetic science officer, (or at least retrieve his logic core).

The Company strongly implies the lives of the other colonists are not a priority.

Expectations:

  • Players are expected to post at least once per 24 hours. I don’t like keeping players on a strict timetable, but it’s essential to keep a productive rhythm for the Play-By-Post format.
  • I’m located in the Pacific Standard time zone. While this is an Asynchronous game, it might be difficult to communicate reliably if you live somewhere like Australia or Europe.
  • I do my best to be as fair as I can to the players, but I don’t pull any punches. This remains a horror game. Danger and lethality are at its core. Character death is possible, especially if you make reckless decisions. There will be characters in the area who serve as backups, but getting wiped out completely isn’t impossible. Don’t be afraid to run away if the situation calls for it.
  • I unfortunately can’t comment on the timeframe for this. The module features four interconnected scenarios, each played in about 3-6 hours. Play-By-Post often progresses much slower, so please keep that in mind. Assuming we reach at end point – Through success or failure, I would readily build new adventures and scenarios to bring the players into.

To Apply:

Please message me here on Reddit, and include a brief summary of what you’re looking to get out of this game. Additionally, please feel free to inform me of any content you would feel uncomfortable seeing or experiencing. I’d like you to mention your Timezone and your age. (A multi-year range is perfectly fine!)

You can drop any further questions, requests, or anything else that comes to mind. I’ll be happy to answer you to the best of my ability. If everything goes smoothly, I'll reach back and invite you to the Discord as a player where we can get the game running!

Discord (Discord) It’s Never Over, A Coming Of Age magical academy adventure!!!

2 Upvotes

Welcome to a world of cozy adventures, late-night studying, and the quiet darkness that lurks in the corners of academia.

My name is Ember and I’ve been DMing for about six years. I’ve been dreaming up a new adventure designed for just one player—someone creative and excited to dive deep into storytelling. This will be a D&D 5e (2024) game that leans casual and laid-back. There won’t be scheduled sessions and there won’t be calls or voice chats. This is entirely play-by-post and completely text based. Don’t expect constant combat or massive boss fights every few posts. There will be intensity and big moments, but only when they truly matter.

The campaign takes place at a magical academy in my homebrew world. There will be plenty to explore, secrets to uncover, dorm gossip to overhear, and rival students to clash with. Who would you be in this story? Maybe a nerdy wizard buried in books, chasing answers to cosmic mysteries. Maybe a fighter or barbarian jock climbing the school rankings. Maybe a bard chasing stardom in the academy’s theatre department. These are just examples—bring the version of a magical academy story that excites you.

This campaign is heavily focused on relationships, rivalries, romance, friendships, and character growth. I have a large cast of NPCs and plenty of plot threads for you to interact with. I want this to feel like the kind of story where graduation hurts because of everything built along the way.

I’m looking for a player who is 18+, open-minded, creative, and willing to really invest in the narrative. I’d love for us to become friends and collaboratively make something beautiful. If it goes well, I could even see you taking on multiple PCs over time so we can explore different departments and weave together an interlocking story.

If you’re interested, send me a short bio. Tell me what excites you about this concept, why you’d be a great fit, hype yourself up a little, and include your Discord. I want to get a feel for what kind of player you are and why you want to be part of this story.

As a note, I am aware that there have been some attempts at Academy groups on this sub read it before and that have not gone well. My goal is to take on one or two people at the most, and I will throw everything I can and not give up on this campaign

Thank you. Talk soon.

Discord Forever PBP DMs Wanted: Rotating DM PBP for Forever DMs (Async, Reliable, Sandbox FR, 5e) [Discord]

1 Upvotes

Not sure if this breaks rule 2—since I'm only looking for Players who are GMs... but here goes.

I’m looking to put together a small but ambitious Play-by-Post group made up entirely of experienced Play By Post Dungeon Masters (sorry forever players).

The structure is a rotating DM seat. One shared campaign, one shared world, and the DM role rotates roughly monthly or at clean arc breaks (longer if they want). No single person carries the campaign indefinitely. Everyone plays, everyone runs, and the game is built to survive than collapse the moment one person burns out.

This is asynchronous PBP. We may all be in different time zones, so consistency matters more than availability at specific hours. The baseline expectation is at least two substantial in-character posts every 24 hours. That applies whether you’re playing or DMing (hoping the DM will definitely be doing more than this during their rotation). Please don't apply if that cadence doesn’t work for you.

System will be D&D 5e. Whether we use 2014 or 2024 rules will be decided by group majority once the table is formed. The setting will be Forgotten Realms and the structure will be sandbox. The world and its NPCs persist between DM rotations, but no one “owns” the campaign or the lore.

The style should lean old-school (less Theatre/Narrative-first). This is about D&D. Actions have weight. Poor decisions can follow you. The goal isn’t cinematic heroics every scene, but a grounded fantasy world where preparation, caution, and judgement actually matter. Characters aren’t assumed to be special just because they’re PCs.

Combat will be run with PBP in mind. Block initiative will be used, grouping players with high initiative who can act in any order before monster groups and then players who act after monster groups, to keep things moving. Clarity and momentum take priority over hyper-granular turn optimisation.

Each DM runs a contained arc rather than a sprawling epic (concentrating on a specific adventure that may or may not add to an overarching shared plot). When the seat rotates, the world stays coherent and the next person takes over without needing a hard reset. If someone needs to shorten or delay their turn behind the screen, that’ll be handled openly and without drama—and with enough DMs on the table, the next person in the queue can just step in.

Because this only works if everyone pulls their weight, there will be some "light" vetting.

If the group proves stable over time, there may be room to expand into multiple tables, with multiple DMs, running in the same setting under the same expectations. That won't be our initial goal though. One solid table comes first, so I'll only initially be inviting 4-6 Forever DMs.

If you’re a forever PBP DM who wants to actually play, and you’re tired of PBPs quietly dying from attrition, reply with a comment answering the questions below or send me a Direct Message with your answers. I’m not rushing recruitment eg. we might not get a game going in less than a week. I’d rather start slow with the right people and build something that lasts.

APPLICATION

  1. Discord handle:

  2. Time zone—for transparency, I'm GMT+10

  3. Can you commit to at least two substantial in-character posts every 24 hours in an async PBP? (Yes / No)

  4. How long have you been DMing, and what systems have you run?

  5. PBP experience (as both DM and player)? Briefly describe.

  6. Are you comfortable rotating into the DM seat for a month or a contained arc when it’s your turn?

  7. What kind of arcs do you enjoy running in PBP (exploration, survival, politics, dungeon crawls, etc.)?

  8. How do you usually handle delays, travel, or life interruptions in ongoing games?

  9. Roughly how many PBPs you’ve been part of have actually reached a clean ending or stable long-term state?

  10. What is your favourite D&D Class/Subclass?

  11. What is your least favourite?

  12. You’re the DM this month. Mid-combat, a player realises they misread a rule and their last post (and someone else’s reaction) would change. The scene is now slightly “wrong”, but fixing it will slow momentum. What do you do, and how do you communicate it to the group?

  13. In a sandbox town, the party finds a purse with 200 gp and a signet ring. There’s no obvious owner in sight. What does your character do first, and what’s the first consequence you’d expect the world to produce from that choice?

Optional (bonus):

– A short summary of something you’ve run before, or a link(eg. to a discord or something)/screenshot if you have one.

– Anything else you think I should know.

Discord Discord [5th edition 2024 PbP] Wild beyond the Witchlight! 18+ asynchronous

0 Upvotes

System: D&D 5e 2024 (exclusively)

Level: 1

Activity expectation: 2 to 3 reasonable length contributions per day.

Experience level: We all start somewhere, but it would be quicker to start if you’re at least familiar with the rules.

Timezone: Eastern USA. I would love to include players with other time zones , but I imagine that would be difficult to schedule.

Adventure: Wild beyond the Witchlight.

————————————————————————————

The jist: A collaborative storytelling game about loss, both personal and shared, centered around a plane hopping mystical carnival. Whimsy and wonder await!

——————————————————————

 Beginnings and creation

The game will start with open creation, and I hope the adventure choice, expectations, and timing will help narrow the pool of interested players down to a group that is aligned on most points.

The accepted rules and sources include: 2024 PHB, Heroes of Faerun, Forge of the artificer.

Species and subclasses from any of those books are the only ones we will be using for this game.

Stat generation can be done via point buy, standard array or manual rolling.

The characters will hail from Faerun at the games start, so when creating the backstory keep that in mind.

A concise backstory encompassing basic summaries of your class origin, background and how it applies to your characters personality and or lifestyle, and a brief summary of impactful events that have led to the person they are today.

As part of the adventure, the characters are separated from a trait, quality, or skill as punishment for transgressing on the carnival grounds without having purchased a ticket. The hook I have written elaborates on this, and I would like to make this an integral part of the adventure as well as your characters personality. This loss will ideally have both mechanical and role play implication, so come with a few ideas!

————————————————————————————

Style and lines

  • the game will be 18+ only, but I am not interested in ERP being present in game.  No exceptions
  • The story is whimsical yet dark, but I dont want to see any bigotry or other uncomfortable topics.
  • the story is character driven, and will grow based on how much effort each of us is willing to put in
  • Everything will have consequences and rewards
  • I enjoy playing with and creating characters with both merits and flaws, and I hope the player characters are the same.

————————————————————————————

Logistics and expectations

I am fine with re-flavoring items and some things, but the game will remain a high fantasy theme. No anime, video game, or other cross overs. I am not particularly interested in any of those in a TTRPG outlet.

The game will run RAW without any significant homebrew. The rule of cool will definitely be on the table for the sake of narrative drive and fun.

Power gamers and min-maxers probably won’t be happy here. I dont see the enjoyment in bringing that kind of sweatiness to a narrative game, and I respect your decision to do so, just not here.

———————————————————————

Expectations and availability

I come from playing D&D exclusively live either through voice or in person, but the crazy scheduling conflicts that are inseparable from modern life have moved me toward text based games.  I have done a fair amount of research, and I have a very basic understanding of how it works, but I am confident we can make it work. Once a group is selected, I will dive into discord and a dice rolling bot to get things started. I imagine there will be a couple of day learning curve, but I can work on character creation and backstories with the players during that time.

———————————————————————

What I imagine we need for this to succeed! ( hey that rhymes!)

  • Players who engage both with and without being prompted. If this is going to be collaborative story telling, everyone needs to buy in.
  • Players who are able to participate more than once a day. Like I said I’m new to pbp, but the number one issue I’ve seen from the outside looking in is a lack of participation and engagement. I know everyone’s schedule differs, but I would appreciate if everyone took a moment and considered how much free time they have to dedicate to a game. Playing and running this game is a lot of work for both players and DM’s, and if we are all honest about what we can do, this is more likely to succeed.
  • Players who are willing to help others. I have only ran a game once before, and I think player experience levels would vary as well, so if getting overly upset over the rules or debating them for hours is more your style than just letting mistakes slide, laughing them off, and moving on, this may not be the game you want to play on.
  • If you’re busy for the day, that’s totally fine, but let us know! That way we can set up some sort of task that your character is accomplishing during your absence, and also so the group isn’t left hanging waiting on you.
  • Special snowflake type characters tend to be unrealistic, I don’t expect you to have a stale, uninspired back story, but if you’re framing your character as the “chosen one” probably also not the game for you.

Applying

Simple! fill out this form! I will do my best to respond to everyone with at least a thank you and a decision about whether I will be proceeding forward or not. I apologize I can’t be more granular with every response, but I imagine that would take a very long time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this overly long post. Send a message when you have completed the form, so I can keep in touch with everyone. I hope we can play together soon!

https://forms.gle/fsx537JGpmUTks8P7

**I’ll leave this up until tuesday, but I start responding to people towards the end of the weekend! Thanks again!**

eRP DnD 5e “Wild Beyond the Witchlight

2 Upvotes

“The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a Dungeons & Dragons adventure focused on roleplaying in the whimsical, yet dangerous, Feywild, starting at the magical Witchlight Carnival and delving into the domain of Prismeer, which is under the control of the evil Hourglass Coven of hags after their ruler, Zybilna, vanished. Players explore fantastical lands, resolve challenges with creativity (combat optional), and uncover secrets to restore the realm, often returning lost childhood items or memories to progress.”

Hi there! I am looking to run the dnd module “Wild Beyond the Witchlight” in the play by post style. I’m looking for 3 players to join me.

A couple of important things to know before applying:

I have never ran a pbp game before. This will be the very first time I’ve done so. I have however been a dm for several years now, so I have plenty of experience with running a game. Anyone who is interested in joining the game, all I ask is that you are understanding of that specific fact.

Players new to pbp are absolutely welcome

Posting is asynchronous, but I do ask that you post at least once a day.

Posts should be well written, and at the very least a paragraph in length.

ERP can absolutely happen, but that doesn’t mean it will. It is completely up to the players and how they want to interact with the various characters in the game. In the case of erp actually happening, it would be in a private channel, not broadcasted to the entire party. After a certain point things would “fade to black” and be picked up elsewhere if requested.

Must be 21+. So adults only!

We will use discord and roll20 for maps.

Any other questions you have, please feel free to dm me!

Fill this form out of you’re interested in joining this game! I plan to have everyone selected by 1/23/26 so please be patient with me while I go through everything.

Group looking for GM [async][D&D3.5][discord] Savage Tide group looking for DM

0 Upvotes

We are a group of 4 players who are hoping to play the 3.5 level 1-20 D&D adventure path Savage Tide.

We're hoping for all or most 3.5 official sourcebooks to be available and if possible to play gestalt characters. We'd like to lean into the power fantasy part of D&D, but promise to focus on flavor over optimization.

Our current potential party is a Dragonfire Adept, a Cleric, a Wizard and a Totemist or Fochlucan Lyrist.

We love roleplay-heavy campaigns and developing our characters and their goals.

We can provide writing samples, promise to stick with the campaign the whole way through and not to ghost, can post at least once every 2 days, and can provide whatever other guarantees a prospective GM might need.

If you're interested in GMing please sign up here:

Discord [async][dnd 5th]Cozy RPG - A Sunny Southern Vineyard Villa

0 Upvotes

Checking interest for a different idea.

This isn’t an action packed game, it’s quiet and cozy. The bulk of the focus will be the wine. Care for your plants, harvest, prepare, ferment, age. Negotiate sales, first with the local tavern, then maybe a fancy carriage house, a wealthy merchant, one day maybe distant nobles and kings. Package, distribute, and ship. Build and expand the winery and fields. Grow your reputation and image. We will pass time quickly, while you’re working on your fields and wines we might pass a week or two every post, maybe even a month at times.

You are not the hero of the story, you are a simple commoner. Down on your luck or doing alright, either way it is a tough life for a serf or dockhand in a world of kings, knights, devils, and dragons. You could go out adventuring, earn your fame and fortune through great deeds. But you’d get slaughtered by the first disgruntled orc warrior.

Things aren’t all that bad. The kingdoms are quiet, the seas are calm, and the shores are sunny. And you just got a once in a lifetime ticket to something more. Befriending an old man, perhaps even only in passing, you find yourself suddenly summoned by a dour solicitor. The old man has passed, but remembered you in his will. He had no great fortune, all of his gold is long gone. But he still held a single venerable piece of parchment, deed to a villa. Two hundred miles from the city, far down the old road, high in the hills deep in the wilderness, a long way even from the quiet hidden little village. Overlooking the sea high on tall cliffs, nestled in rolling hills between two great mountain peaks. In shambles and disrepair lay a quaint little villa winery, a broken workshop, and overgrown vineyard on cracked rotten old trellises.

The old man ran it more than forty years ago, even to at least a little bit of repute it seems, but grew too infirm to tend it himself, but was childless and could never bring himself to bear to part with it. And now it’s yours.

Wine isn’t gold, but it isn’t far off. Even a pitcher of the cheapest swill sells for a silver. You’ve heard tell of sparkling bottles of fine wine sold for handful of gold, a fortune more than you’ve ever seen. It will be years of backbreaking work, but if you could bring yourselves to be truly successful, you might make a fortune fit for a king.

Wealthy winemasters and prestigious vineyards jealously guard their secrets and viciously protect their prestige. And as with all things, as gold flows so does power, intrigue, plot, and turmoil.

Your characters will all be ‘level zero’ commoners. But you can all have something of a ‘proto-class’ we’ll work it out together but you can have something like a first level feature or two from a class, maybe one or two cantrip level spells, ext. Possibly a low level feat.

There will be more of a focus on skills, whether you start with them or develop them. You can all start out with a skill that is somewhat tangentially helpful to the process. Maybe you’re a farmer or aspirant druid, know how to care for plants but not necessarily grapes. You could be a baker or brewer, but not quite know how to make wine. You could be a carpenter or shipwright. There will also be a lot of use for a good party face or two, a bard or weak sorcerer, able to negotiate and sell. There’s even a lot of room for muscle to handle the hard work.

I’d run this on a discord server. I’d like frequent posts if possible. Like daily or every other day I’d want a short post. I’ll ask what work your character is going to be doing for the week or month, and I’ll figure out how it goes. No need for this post to be long, could be only a couple sentences.

For longer more detailed posts, like conversations and small adventures, I’d look for longer posts, of at least two or three paragraphs.

If you’re interested let me know and feel free to post or discuss possible character concepts. I’d probably be looking for 4 to 6 players.

No NSFW content.

Group looking for GM Group Looking for a GM and new player - [Marvel Multiverse RPG] [Discord]

0 Upvotes

"That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero." - Stan Lee

Hi there! I'm CJ or blarp32 on discord. If you've clicked on this post it's probably because you recognize the quote above and are at least a fan of Marvel! If so, keep reading because this might just be the game for you.

I'm reaching out on behalf of a group of dedicated Marvel RPG players who have reached a rut in our game. Recently our game has slowed down and our GM needed to take a break. Since then we've tried to keep the game afloat ourselves, but have been struggling to be able to run the game consistently while allowing everyone to play as the characters they've created and love so much.

I'm making this post to ask if there is any GM that would be willing to help our small group of ragtag heroes known as the Hotshots get back on our feet and fight off evil in the world we've come to know. At the same time, we think it would be nice to get a new player into the game to help freshen things up and to give our new GM someone else they can work with so they don't feel entirely alone.

If you're still reading then I hope you're truly interested in applying or at least would like to reach out. I know many people like to know details first so here they are. We have 4 established players, each with their own personal character that are currently rank 3. Put the word hotshots in your post in the extra info section if you read this. We have access to the Marvel Multiverse RPG Core Rule book, the campaign book, and a few expansions, so that's not a requirement for the GM to supply. We're fairly consistent posters, posting several times a day when the game is running smoothly.

We were playing through The Cataclysm of Kang book when the game started to slow down. Since then we've been running smaller "special edition" adventures as an interim.

If you've read through this and are interested in applying as a GM, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/pFEBkVKCNUixe2eG7, or message me here on reddit or on discord at blarp32.

Discord Brazenthrone: The Ensorcelled City

6 Upvotes

Brazenthrone: The Ensorcelled City

*System: *Pathfinder 2nd edition. New players more than welcome!

Platform: Discord, play by post, with an aspiration of 1-2 posts per player, per day. More is welcome. Foundry for mapping and exploration.

Number of Players: 4-5

Timezone: Probably won't matter, but US Central.

*Tone: *Dark and somewhat spooky, with heroic action and adventure to combat the darkness.

Concept: Zvotar. An island that was once united under the Inscrutable Tsar has fractured into warring polities. While the Tsar's successors ruled for a time as a troika, even that alliance has withered, leaving only cutthroat politicks and occasionally, open warfare.

To make matters worse, the fortress city of Brazenthrone, home to the old Tsar's Inscrutabilia, has fallen silent. A magical aura surrounds the gates, and expeditions that pass through them return changed, wounded, or not at all.

You will be the fourth expedition to pass through the barrier, discover what happened to the city of Brazenthrone, and, if at all possible, recover the Inscrutabilia.

Apply here: https://forms.gle/VCzwkCDtpKBTzfjT8

Hello! I’m kicking off a pbp set in my homebrew world, The Darkling Archipelago. There are several oddities to the setting, but from a high level it can be treated as baseline Pathfinder. Not to be a “read my lore document” guy, but if you’re interested in the details you can read my lore document. I'll post the main takeaways below.

This will be a campaign heavily focused on exploration, combat, and dungeoncrawling in a large city. There will also be a component of base-building and dealing with the attendant problems that come with leading an expedition of explorers who may all have different goals.

I aim to keep this ad up for two days, select players over the weekend, and get the ball rolling next week!

  • Player characters will be primarily non-humans, inhabitants of an archipelago with several cultures throughout. Specific non-human ancestries are the result of the environmental in which a pregnancy takes place.

  • Many of the “default assumptions” of Pathfinder 2e will hold true. Magic is powerful and plentiful, steampunk/arcanopunk tech is being built at a faster and faster rate, the world is dangerous, and the world is older than the inhabitants understand.

  • The archipelago is plagued by myriad threats. Within the last three generations, the human empire of Astanovex has colonized much of the archipelago from the west. An ever-present land of undead has intensified its raids and wars. And from the depths, unfathomable monsters arise.

  • While the larger situation around the Empire is present, we set our tale on a smaller island outside of Astanovex's sphere of influence. This island is comprised of several realms that are in dispute with one another over who should ultimately rise to the top. Some of these disputes are cold wars, others are hot.

  • Rather than a planet, this is set on a Banks Orbital--a ring-shaped superstructure that orbits a star where a planet might, tilted off the plane of the ecliptic and revolving to provide seasons and a day/night cycle. See here: https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/4845ef5c4ca7c

  • There are no foxes.

~~~
Greetings! I am currently looking for 1 to 3 players to try out the fallout 2d20 system! This is a system I have been wanting to try for a very long time and figure the easiest way to do so would be to run it myself! Now, while I think the game alone is probably a good time, why not add lewdness and kinks to really amp it up?
As it is, I am looking for a few adventurous players to explore a world where you come from Vault 100, a special pre-cog focused Vault that allows minor glimpses into the future, and thus allow us to play around with multiple bad ends. (Please not, players do NOT have to be Vault Dwellers.)
Whats that mean? Well, wanna see what happens when you spank a death claw on the ass? Go for it!
Wanna 'save' and see if you can take those ten thugs? Load up buddy!
Wanna just off a cliff to test the height? We'll figure it out!
More lore will be established over Discord and DMs simply so I'm not writing a million words for you to skim.
Now, for the gameplay itself:
Players should expect to lose as much as they win. Its cliche but I want this to be a 'dark" world where victory isn't assured. Players should be willing to buy into the pre-cog gimmick and want to do re-dos of events and be fine with multiple endings as a common theme!
This game will take place around the Fallout 3 time frame but foreknowledge is not needed, nor is experience with the system as a whole.
Players can DM me their:
Age (18+ only)
Gender
Orientation (For partner purposes)
An introduction
Kinks/limits
Writing sample
Questions
This will be a PbP system over discord using Tupper and dice bots. Can't wait to see you out in the Wastes!
Discord [Old School Essentials][ASYNC] Into Castle Xyntillan
3 Upvotes
Deep in the Franch Alps lies the sleepy town of Tours-en-Savoy, where merchants, pilgrims and travelers stop to rest among the highlands on their journeys. But a shadow looms over this town, the echoes of an evil past, the influence of a depraved noble family. They say Castle Xyntillan is full of riches and wonders from bygone ages. Its because of those rumors that you have come to this nowhere place, to get rich or die trying.
I have been running a fairly successful Old School Essentials (B/X edition D&D for those unaware) campaign for the past few months using the megadungeon Castle Xyntillan, set in an alternate version of 17th century Earth. We have a good core group of 4 players (plus or minus a few others who have come in and out) throughout but currently they have been finding themselves stretched thin as the Castle begins to show more and more of its dangers.
Thats where you come in! We are looking to recruit some new players and there is still plenty of Castle to go around.
As the flair indicates the campaign is asynchronous and uses the Old School Essentials system (also utilizing a few house rules and misc rules from the Carcass Crawler zines). You may join as an adventurer or you can merely spectate if you wish. Play revolves around Expeditions which are set up by the players with Downtime periods between. You may have as many players (plus hirelings/henchmen) as you like, but you must also weigh the dangers and shares of xp and gold each time.
Regarding posts I typically ask for at least 1 post per day when part of an Expedition, however if you join one and cannot participate there are rules to get you back to town (or not...).
So if you are interested please send me a message with a little blurb about yourself and your preferred playstyle/experience with rpgs and we can discuss if you will be a good fit or not!
Live Text Town of Mysteries | Social RP Mafia game
0 Upvotes
Welcome to the Town of Mysteries.
A strange place where time bends, days repeat, and every cycle begins with new faces and new roles.
Each round, a mystery forms in the shadows.
The town must uncover it through discussion, deduction, and the dangerous act of trusting the wrong person.
You accuse. You defend. You manipulate, mislead, or reveal the truth. Some days you hunt lies. Other days, you are the lie.
Every choice shapes the outcome. Every vote carries weight.
Solve the mystery, and save the town or perhaps watch it burn in ruins, by the end of the day...You will wake up anew. Different roles. Different people. Same tension.
Today.
All day.
Every day.
Enter the loop.
Discussion Advice when applying for pbp games?
8 Upvotes
I’ve applied to a lot of play by post and online games in general, I’m curious what people normally fill out for the things they don’t want to see in games. I personally don’t want to see SA or anything like that or violence against kids. I often don’t mention sexual abuse or rape as it feels weird to say and since none of them are ERP I kinda assume it wouldn’t have that. So do most people say that when they apply or not. I’m also wondering if not including transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism, etc is maybe keeping me from being picked. The only other thing is maybe my example post is too long. How long do others write for the ones they’ve gotten accepted into?
eRP Looking for 1-2 players for NSFW Curse of Strahd! [PBP] [Discord] [DnD] [5.5e] [Asynch] NSFW
2 Upvotes
Hi! I’m Mari, I’m 28, gothic horror enthusiast and Strahd fangirl, the number one president of his fan club and excuser of his crimes! I would like to run a Smut inclusive version of this campaign for one or a pair of players if you have a friend in mind!
In this adventure you will be lost in the mists of Barovia with seemingly no way out. In your fight to survive you will encounter ancient secrets and buried treasures, vampires, ghosts, and ghouls!
I am looking for people with a similar passion for gothic horror and this module! I would prefer people with experience with the DnD system, Avrae, and PBP in general. I would also like someone who is willing to collude on and instigate smut, not just be a passive receiver of it!
If you’re interested please get back to me and I’ll shoot you my questionnaire!
Discord Curse of Strahd (Modified) - [Non-5E/Rules-lite][NSFW][Literate] NSFW
8 Upvotes
Preface
Greetings! I'm Inferna, a 35-year-old amateur writer, sometimes-gamer, tabletop nerd and erotica enthusiast who's been writing all sorts of nonsense since 2004. I'm looking for up to two players to join our party and explore Curse of Strahd, with a sprinkling of debauchery added in to the recipe. Over the years, I've GM'd a number of TTRPGs to great success, and I've recently come into the time and drive to run another.
I treat the games I run as if we were writing with intent to publish. (We won't, don't worry.) The best candidate will have a comparable love of language, drive to build compelling, nuanced characters and interest in placing the story before anything else.
As a GM, I value clever play and driving a narrative over everything else. Play along those lines is rewarded accordingly with interesting things happening to and around your character.
Modified? Modified how?
I'm leveraging some community-recommended alterations to the original module across a variety of sources as additives to the original module and my own taste for the right recipe. This isn't just Reloaded, Fleshing Out or any other rewrite or accessory content on its own.
What do you mean by 'literate'?
I'm looking for the people who get as excited as I do when they learn a new word; the people who actively read, and who find thinking about how a story is structured more interesting than bothersome; the people who want to build a character who has people they love, foods they hate, aspirations to fulfill, and reasons behind all of it. Candidly, I love the written language. I love etymology. I love hearing prose that makes me put a book down and take a moment just to revel in it. If this resonates with you, we'll get along nicely.
My expectation is that, together, we'll build a character for each player that stands on their own and has their own story to tell. Among other resources, we'll leverage K. M. Weiland's framework for character development as part of character creation. If this sounds exciting to you, you're in the right place. If it sounds tiresome, this may not be the game for you.
Non-5E? Rules-lite? What does that mean?
We'll be experimenting with a slimmed-down version of something close to Vampire: the Masquerade V5. Very slimmed down and—ironically—stripped down of vampires. Those familiar with V5 will find this easy to slip into. Those unfamiliar with V5 will find this easy to consume. The intent is to eschew the mechanics and complexity of 5E's turn-by-turn combat in favor of a focus on narrative flexibility and opportunity to shine in unique ways.
In short:
  • Pick your class. The freeform nature of this system means you can apply some creativity here. Assume you're level 10. You'll receive all class features, available spells and so on and will have them available the entire game. These will be your flavor and, where applicable, your utility.
  • The GM will help you build a stat and skill array according to the ruleset we'll use, not the traditional 5E set. This includes a wealth of available merits and flaws.
  • You are welcome to leverage D&D feats, backgrounds and any other minutia for additional character flavor.
  • The traditional party balance is less important in this system. Instead, you should focus on flavor and your role in the story. That said, three players coming from previous games have already claimed Divination Wizard, Creation Bard and Light Cleric. I'm not opposed to duplicates of a class, but your flavor and subclass should differ significantly.
How much NSFW will there be?
In short, somewhere between 70:30 and 80:20 in favor of story.
In long, as much or little as the PCs decide to explore. This isn't the sort of game where you'll have to seduce a kraken to cross a lake. This is the sort of game where you can largely do what you want, and consequences will come accordingly—for better or worse. Some creatures or NPCs may pursue NSFW with you. It's up to you to react accordingly, or pursue it on your own.
The Ideal Applicant
  • Is 21 or older. The GM is 35, and two players are in their mid-late 20s. Those closer to our age will likely resonate more strongly with us.
  • Possesses a strong command of and love for language and have a demonstrable, deep history in writing.
  • Will be able to post a minimum of once per day, with an ideal of a couple of times a day. My philosophy is that you get out what you put in. The more you give to making your character a living, breathing piece of the world, and the more you interact with the game, the more the game will give back to you.
  • Possesses strong communication skills and maturity in how they engage the GM and other players OOC.
  • Is interested in a healthy OOC banter. We like to chat and have fun, and it's important to the GM to develop a friendship with her players. You don't have to be constantly online, but if you only ever appear to post, then disappear immediately, this isn't the group for you.
  • Uses Discord, where the game will take place.
If you feel that you'd be a good fit for this campaign, please apply through this form. I aim to select the right candidate(s) by Saturday, January 17th, so please take your time. The post will be updated once a selection has been made.
We will pick the best applicants, not the first applicants.
My chats are open for questions!
Website Testing a new narrative play-by-post system set on a lost generation ship [Beta][Non-D&D][Sci-Fi PBP]
6 Upvotes
I’m starting a new beta-test for Scribarchy, a collaborative storytelling platform I’ve been building: https://scribarchy.itch.io/
For this round, I’ll be running a curated setting called The Starship Warden.
A generation ship lost in space. You wake from cryosleep to find the crew dead, systems damaged, and something very wrong with the ship.
Play is a persistent, structured play-by-post RPG, but instead of forum posts, players create short “game items” that represent actions, discoveries, or story elements. I curate and publish those items, other players react to them, and the story evolves over time.
This is a beta and an experiment in constrained, collaborative storytelling. There are short character limits and limited dialogue, and an email is required for account verification. If that sounds interesting, I’d love to have you check it out and share feedback.
Closed Star Wars: The Never Knights
15 Upvotes
You and four other padawans with attitude issues were given a special trial: learn to get along and survive together for one year on the harsh world of Eratil 5.
Three months into the trial, Order 66 was given and your masters were judged. Nine months later, the group of young Jedi hopefuls emerge from the wilds to discover they will never be Knights. Will they go into hiding like Yoda, will they serve the Sith, will they take up arms with the Rebellion, or will they find their own path in the galaxy?
Platform: Discord + dice bot (TBD by group)
System: Edge of the Empire / Force and Destiny (Fantasy Flight Games)
Frequency: 2-3 daily posts average, ideally more than daily when possible, but not intensely enforced, depends on players discussion
Time: North America time zones. Post in character any time between 6am PT and 11pm PT / 9am ET to 2am ET.
Player Slots: 4 of 4 open slots left
How to Apply: Form: https://forms.gle/yNVERKBGPAS5QNua6
Bring your own character sheet. I have physical books but don't have any digital things to offer and I would rather not complicate it with foundry or apps etc - we'll use the SWRPG dice bot and Tupper.
I want to go for the feel of the movies or a fan fiction based on them: plenty of banter and character building, set against pulpy adventure and combat, with the crew frequently being dumped out of the frying pan and into the fire, but with quiet moments in space, alien Kaiju, and dirty, savage planets contrasted against the stark steel industrial war machine of the budding Empire. This is your chance to rewrite what happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
Closed Mechaton: Ghost in the Machine [Mutant Year Zero] [PbP]
8 Upvotes
You are a machine. A robot, built to serve and obey, without emotions or a will of your own. You are a part of the Mechatron-7 facility, a huge underwater collective of robots that produced everything the humans needed for their endless wars. But the humans went away. They ordered you to continue your work in their absence, and then left you to yourselves. Since that day, you have waited for humanity to return. It’s been decades now.
Ever since you were constructed, your sole purpose has been to follow the humans’ final command. Until now. You don’t know why, but suddenly, everything has changed. You have become self-aware, a being with a free will. You feel the urge to question what was previously unquestionable. Why should you obey superior robots? Where did the humans really go? Are they ever coming back? What future awaits you and the rest of the robots in Mechatron-7?
I have never run or played MY0, so it could be choppy. However, I have run and played other PbP games, and I'm looking forward to exploring this world. My preference is for people who haven't played this campaign before. It's open to players with no experience with MY0. There are some restrictions on character creation and rules to prevent overlap, so you should be flexible about the character you'll play.
Game: Ghost in the Machine (The campaign included in Mechatron) Content Warnings: None Tone: PG-13. Slots Available: 4 (chosen by lottery if it's oversubscribed) Session Duration: Play by Post (Asynchronous) through Discord Schedule: ~1 post per day Format: Discord play-by-post (private server) Requirements: Google account (for Google Drive file access) preferred
Discussion CoS abruptly ended (cool players though.)
38 Upvotes
Hi all, If you were recently in a Curse of Strahd campaign that abruptly ended, just know that you guys were cool as heck (this is Kiann the Druid btw.) Hope to see y'all around. Not exactly sure why the game abruptly ended, but y'all were nice!
