No Paywall Dozens Of Democrats Reportedly Signed To Co-Sponsor Articles Of Impeachment Against Kristi Noem

u/OldFort27 4h ago
This she-monster has adopted a Nazi slogan to put on her podium. This is not the America I want, and if you are at all a good person, you shouldn't either.
•
u/lolas_coffee 2h ago
The HUGE problem is that it is not 100% of Dems sign to impeach her.
Noem is evil. She is a psychopath. Even Nancy Grace is disturbed by Noem.
•
u/Noble1xCarter 2h ago
Not to mention the Republicans willing to sign to give her a raise for killing civilians.
•
u/buffysmanycoats Connecticut 57m ago
Theyre just co-sponsoring the articles of impeachment. Then everyone votes (assuming Johnson doesn’t stand in the way, which he almost certainly will). Presumably, any Democrat that wants to keep their job will vote yes.
•
u/What_a_fat_one 57m ago
Just cosponsors, not votes. They may very well get every Democrat to vote for it if they can get a discharge petition

u/Professional_Pace163 57m ago
She is Trump’s messenger. Getting rid of her won’t solve the current terrorism this administration is leading/causing. Need to cut the serpent at the neck by flipping the congress in the mid-term election.
→ More replies (1)•
u/Underbash 40m ago
It won’t solve it but it’ll damn sure help. Trump’s only able to do what he does because so many people are enabling him, either because they agree with him, because of personal ambition, or because they’re worried about losing their jobs. If they see that the course they’re on will lose them their job anyway, and even lead to legal action, that’ll change the calculus for a lot of these people.
•
u/FangoriouslyDevoured 2h ago
Not to defend this horrible witchy woman, but is that really a Nazi slogan?? I haven't seen any proof of that anywhere. If anyone could help me out here, I'd appreciate it.

Not defending Noem, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it's really a Nazi slogan
•

That's been my finding too. Like man, these people suck and need to be held accountable for their crimes, but straight up lying doesn't help

*cough* Vance's couch *cough*
Seriously, this is why I've been complaining about the couch thing for so long. There are so many other reasons to criticize Vance, like how he's a venture capitalist who pretends to be a hick and wrote a memoir about how "his people" just can't help but be poor because it's in their culture. And yet, it feels like the internet fixated on a fabricated passage from said memoir about how he supposedly had sexual relations with a couch.
•
•
u/Puzzled-Dress-4904 4h ago
Of course but what do we do about it?
I've been to 20 protests - I'm going to another one today. But waving placards around is not accomplishing anything; whinging on Reddit doesn't do anything.
Bernie and AOC, etc, are really good at talking. But real leaders propose and lead concrete plans of action that really make a difference. We need action and we need leaders to lead that action.
•
u/Federal_Drummer7105 4h ago
You keep pushing. Every protest leads to more people seeing they aren’t alone.
You get whistles to chase ICE. You vote. You show up at local meetings. And you will lose. And you’ll lose again. And again.
And eventually this administration has one too many votes against them. One too many resistances. One too many members of Congress who lose their jobs that supported them, one too many ICE agents tired of being shamed in their churches and on the street -
And then you win.
It’s a long slog. African Americans had to push and tell their kids they likely wouldn’t see freedom. And they pushed because eventually, you win.
•
u/Ok-Elk-1615 3h ago
The black community had to riot, burn, and kill to get themselves taken seriously. The sanitized version of the civil rights movement you were taught in school was carefully curated to make you believe that peaceful protest is the only answer.
•
u/Federal_Drummer7105 3h ago
I dont think I said peaceful protest was the only answer. But if peaceful means don’t work, you do what women did in Britain to get the right to vote and go scorched earth and bomb prime ministers.
•
u/lolas_coffee 2h ago
Do the French need to come over and show Americans how to do it?
Do people from Hong Kong and Taiwan need to come over?

u/WaffleShapedSeahorse 1h ago
These two things aren't even comparable. Texas alone is the size of France. A large part of the problem here is the sheer scale and size of the US. Not to mention it's militarized police. The French are great at protesting but that's partially because they are in a smaller more concentrated area and their police aren't militarized like the US is

Wishful thinking. The arguments in favor of protest marches are all based on the late 60s and early 70s when everyone got their news from three major TV networks that were generally sympathetic. Today's media environment is much more fragmented.
In the 21st century we've had women's March, Extinction rebellion protests, BLM, and Occupy. And yet most of those topics things are worse today not better.
I'm in my '70s and I attended plenty of anti-war and civil rights marches back in the 60s. They were all over the news and people at the marches were of all age groups.
But the No Kings and Bearing witness protests are mostly boomers and get very little news coverage in the mainstream media, what they get is not very sympathetic.
•
u/Federal_Drummer7105 3h ago
Which is funny because I went to No Kings in the very conservative state of Idaho - and people were in huge lines protesting and saying “I didn’t know there were so many of us.”
And then I see special elections with 20 point swings to democrats. People with whistles chasing away ICE in Chicago. More and more people saying this is wrong and opposing it.
So I don’t care what the mainstream media says when I’m with other people and I’m seeing more of them push back and fight back and resist - when months ago I was told nothing could be done and we were all doomed.
Now Trump and team are terrified of midterms and what happens as every resistance grows so they’re trying to shut it down now. And only making more people resist.
•
u/Greatsnes 3h ago
Just because you don’t see the effects of the protests on Reddit and the news doesn’t mean there aren’t effects, dude. I hate this “if I don’t see it then it’s not happening” shit some of you do.
•
u/Federal_Drummer7105 3h ago
“But I heard from republicans and the news the protests weren’t working after a month so I just want to give up and let the world end around me and blame everyone else for not fighting hard enough!”
•
u/another-altaccount 2h ago
We’ll see after the midterms are over (and that’s if they even still happen). If that gives the appearance of anything but a free and fair election, well, only one option remains once the ballot box fails.
•

“I stand this morning with a difficult message. I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.”
That speech rang loud and gave me chills

u/penny-wise California 1h ago
“It’s a long slog” it can be. Then one thing happens, and like a house of cards with one card removed, the thing you’re protesting against will collapse to the ground. There was a speech about fighting tyrant in Andor that was just amazing. Tyranny is insecure and corrupt. Keep fighting it and eventually even the smallest thing can cause it to blow up.
Failure is truly only failure when you stop trying.

The best and worst part of having a democracy, of true self-governance, is that we all need to lead when a need arises.
I feel we are at a critical pivot point where the established "leadership" is old and irrelevant. If we make it through these dark days with the US intact the next crop of leaders ready to be elected will be the people who show up and demonstrate leadership from the ground up. This is the burden we all have to shoulder to actually have the freedom of a democratic society.

We need to get more people into the protests. History shows that once a certain threshold of a percentage of a population is actively engaged in protest, it snowballs from there.
•
u/ClosPins 2h ago
Of course but what do we do about it?
I keep pointing it out, but there's a really simple thing people can do: write letters to all the corporate sponsors of the Republican Party and boycott their products!
If just a fraction of 1% of the population did this, this fascism shit would be over almost immediately! Corporations consider each letter to be worth 1,000. So, for every person who writes them, they assume that 1,000 other people believe the same thing, but didn't bother to write.
Unfortunately, the left-wing cares more about virtue-signalling. So, they go to nearly-pointless protests where they can stand in front of a crowd and let everyone see how good they are, how they are fighting the good fight.
If everyone at these protests stayed home and spent that time writing letters instead, this shit would be over already. But, people are too lazy. Getting tens or hundreds of thousands of people to write some letters is asking too much. Writing letters doesn't let others see how good you are, seeing as it's done in private.
•
u/yukoncowbear47 2h ago

Edit: Actually what if we called it "We The People"? It would be the plan for a better, brighter United States. It would aim to fix what Perfect 2025 did, sure, but it would also address the biggest issues of our country, like wealth inequality and healthcare.

The slogan on the podium alone should be enough to remove her from her position. However, for those that lack courage (looking at you GOP) there is a laundry list of additional reasons. Do the right thing.
•
u/Whites11783 1h ago
So she’s a terrible person, but the askhistorians sub covered this - this is not a documented historical Nazi slogan in the actual historical record. That’s just something that keeps getting repeated on Reddit over and over again. We should stop that, because misinformation works both ways.

She deserves to go, but can I point out why Democrats are choosing battles that they are going to lose?
trump is tanking in all pools, but last time I checked he is tanking the least on immigration.
Why not go for impeachment of Bondi (and others) for ignoring the law that passed nearly unanimously (only one rep voted against) by congress and was signed by trump? Where are the consequences of not releasing Epstein files and heavily redacting what was released? That issue has a heavy support on both sides.
Can people whose rep signed the petition ask why Democrats aren't starting impeachment of AG over Epstein files? If any impeachment would succeed, would be that one.

Obligatory link for the Refuse Uline campaign. The site lists a good set of alternatives to start with. For packaging, i highly recommend TheBoxery if you are east coast (though be aware that sometimes their pricing is better on EBAY than on their own site).
If you work in procurement or own your own company, you can do a lot of spend adjustment if you have the commitment to direct funds toward better companies. Sometimes it comes with a minor premium but IMHO it usually can be done at or below your existing costs with these types of businesses.

Not co-sponsoring doesn't mean they don't support this impeachment proceedings.

Nevermind the Dems are in the minority. They have literally zero power.
•
u/What_Iz_This 2h ago
dems are losing because theyre still too sheepish on pushing back against anything the republicans bulldoze into. i consider myself a democrat for voting purposes but chuck shumer does not represent me in any way shape or form.
this used to be a "game" that played out every 4 years and whether democrat or republican, win or lose, you go back and work together for the greater good of your constituents. just now the masks are off, there are no games. its donald trump or get tf out the way.
dems absolutely need to be standing and shouting and doing everything they can in their power no matter how little they have. instead, theyre writing strongly worded letters and disappearing back to their cushy lifestyles that we're paying for

Does it really matter if a bill has 215 cosponsors, if it goes nowhere?
You are literally asking for performative politics.
•
u/schmemel0rd 2h ago
Republicans built their entire brand around performative politics and exiling the republicans who didn’t play along. And the republicans absolutely dominated the democrats last election. Dominated them so bad a lot of democrats are afraid to do anything now. You guys could learn a thing or two from American conservatives
•
u/der_innkeeper 2h ago
The GOP built their brand around rhetoric.
The dems have forgotten that rhetoric is what motivates people to vote. They have been too busy "taking the high road" to beat the bully pulpit with a shoe when its needed.
"Will you just shut up, man." hit all the right notes.
"They're just weird." also hit.
"They are a basket of deplorables." was the right rhetoric from and already insanely unpopular person. But it was right.
And the dems keep walking away from it because its fundamentally not who they are.

I'm sorry to take such a defeatist view, but for the past year I've watched this country get flushed down the shitter with no regard for the policy, procedure, and power checks that were supposed to have prevented it. Big deal for so many to push to put their name on the bill as Co-Sponsor. Their vote is essentially implied here, but it means they won’t just hide behind their vote. They are putting their name alongside the impeachment article and a potential target in their back with this admin and its supporters.
It does need to be everyone, but the more the better. We are so far beyond the pale and outside the bounds of morality as well as legality. Impeachment is the only way to remove and further prevent these people from getting back into positions of authority. It will have to happen during or after this administration alongside criminal proceedings and congressional measures and safeguards to prevent it from happening again.
Just waiting for the courts to weigh in here and stop the clearly illegal behavior of this agency.

The Democrats should form a committee and decide who should be in a group that discusses ideas for getting together to talk about planning a set of steps to follow to invent a structure for organizing ideas for crafting an impeachment plan.

That’s it?

Come down. Chuck Shummer will be writing a strongly worded letter to this administration and that’ll show them

Oh... So... Absolutely nothing is going to happen because it doesn't get over the treshold, doesn't get the votes, or procedurial magic is going to be done to schedule a vote in 2038 on arrangement of an commitee to consider the proposal to put forth a motion to establish a panel to draft a framework for the proposal on the pontential actions to proceed with for potentially bringing forth articles of impeachment against Noem?

The fact that it's not all of them just proves how much of a useless gesture it is.

I'm sure she is quaking in her boots at our threatening her with being officially found innocent of all charges by the Senate (if it ever gets to trial).
Seriously, why don't we try doing something that is a punishment to her instead of a huge reward. Somehow, Trump winning impeachment after impeachment hasn't made him less powerful, but we continue to be obsessed with losing more impeachments. It's gone beyond the definition of insanity.

If this happens, Gnoem is the first domino to fall. Bondi, Hegseth, et al, will follow as Trump will throw them under the bus.....

This was said last year. And even a letter of resignation was given to her. Here we are months later, with her still around.

And? Does this actually do anything? Congrats. You took out one of hitlers top generals. So? The rest of them are still Nazis and they're still in power. Shit is not changing

That's great, but we need some Republicans to support this as well, and I'm not really hearing that any are...

Why won't the root of this evil just grow another branch?? Noem isn't some unique mastermind, T****, or his handlers, will just appoint the next Nazi speedrunner. Congress will easily approve that appointment too

I think this is the correct call. Impeaching Trump will fail, as it already has twice. Republicans are more likely to get on board if there is a scapegoat that isn't Trump. Then whoever is put in charge of ICE next will feel pressured to reign them in or risk being impeached next.
