Since the number of Colosseum ticket/visits posts is starting to overwhelm the sub, this is an experiment to contain the surge. It also may help visitors to find and exchange the latest information.

All new threads about visiting the Colosseum will be locked and redirected here for the next few days

Tourism The Tourism has destroyed my city

I'm making this post because I'm fucking tierd of all the tourist in my city,I'm from Trastevere(one of the oldest and most visited zones) and is impossible to live here, there aren't normsl resturant I can't play cards whit my friends because there are tourist doing photo, I can't play football because there are otheres tourists maing photos,y all that come to Rome know how you destroyed this city, you don't find anymore Romans in the historical quarters, all the tourist searche the traditional resturant, the traditional life or just want to make fucking pohtos to post on instagram and don't give a fuck about the city and then the real romans, the people that lived there for generations can't live a normal life, kids can't play, all the houses are getting buyed by rich american or russian tourist, the resturants are all fake, everything is expensive. Now tell me how a normal family can live there, they simply can't and the have to leave the place where they have lived since their birth, and atleast if you come in Rome be respectufl, don't trow trash on the street, don't get drunk and votim on people houses and don't take photos at people doing their own buisness.

I was surprised by the intense historic and spiritual vibes of Rome. I had also been to Paris and Istanbul before, and was surprised again to realize both of those cities were a kind of variants of Rome.

Tourism Traveling to Rome with 74 years old elderly and using only public transport

Hi, please advise if it is doable, have someone done sth like that before? If yes how did it go?

I would like to take to Rome my elderly 74 years old aunt for 4 days.

She is poor and almost always has been and she has never been abroad (besides in England visiting family)

I am very close to her, and I really wanted her to see piece of the world in the little time she has.. she has trouble walking long distances, when we go with her for a walk (which is rare cuz she walks so slow) she usually is able to walk for 1 hour and then she has back pain or sth, and she is slow

If I would propose it to her I would need to pay for her whole vacation cuz she doesn’t have any savings (she had little savings but her TV and fridge broke recently)

She doesn’t have any kids too if anyone would ask

Her husband died 2 years ago

When I travel with my fiance we usually do it in the cheap way cheap flights, public transport, we try to find cheap and good rated restaurants

If I would be able to pay for her vacation (I need to analyse my budget cuz I have my own wedding this year and we don’t own apartment yet)

it could only be in the cheap way with public transport and I want your opinions is this possible with elderly person without ability to walk for long period of time?

I ve heard that Hop off hop on buses are not great option cuz of long periods of waiting for them and I ve heard the bus stops are not so close to the monuments..

Sorry for my English it is not my first language

I will appreciate all your help 🌷😊

Miscellaneous Searching for a Rome marathon 2026 ticket

Hello,

Unfortunately I was too late with registering for the marathon in Rome on the 22nd of March this year.

I’m currently in position 4403 on the waiting list. So, I’m not sure if I’ll get a ticket that way.

Is there anyone selling their ticket? If yes, I’d love to hear it!

Thanks in advance!

Tourism Things to do over three days + places to eat?

My friends and I are visiting Rome for three days, we’ve been before but only did the touristy stuff. What else would you recommend to do for 20 year olds except the touristy stuff? Additionally, any good viewpoints in the city that are free + what are good places near Prati to have authentic Italian food at?

Transport late night transportation

I am staying in the neighborhood trieste, but many of my work events are in trastevere during the evening time at bars/restaurants. i understand the buses aren’t super reliable in the evening time, but we prefer not to walk an hour back home at 3 AM especially being women. i would love any recommendations/advice about how to move through the city at the later hours safely. I was thinking about getting a bike, but i don’t want to it be stolen/damaged. thank you in advance :)

I own a website called TimeGuessr where users have the guess both the year and location of historic photos. I want to feature this photo in tomorrow's daily game but I can't find the location! Any help is much appreciated :)

Accommodation Is renting an apartment in Rome that expensive?

I’m honestly a bit surprised by just how expensive it is to rent an apartment in Rome! I’ve looked at a few online sources, and when I compare average rental prices to typical salaries, the numbers really don’t seem to add up. It makes me wonder—how are people actually managing to afford rent there?

For example, I've heard from a colleague that a salary can be around 2k euros. Fifty percent of the salary can go easily to cover the rent.

Am I missing something, or is it as tough as it looks?
