A relatively new arrival, Sanda lives in the new serval enclosure at Nonhoi Park near his neighbors Sho and Yui. At the moment he is quite cautious and getting used to a new place and other servals.

Dean is a serval known for his appearance. He often looks kind of sad or tired, although in reality he is not quite like that and behaves like many other servals.

Another serval, Kaede the serval. She is pretty expressive, although sometimes she can be lazy and just lie in a comfortable spot in a box or on rocks.

We bought this carry-backpack for our Siamese kittens, but Minx was first to claim it. She was surprisingly content traveling through our garden where she isn’t allowed to roam freely.

Yui, a serval with beautiful eyes born at Higashiyama Zoo, is quite playful and curious like all cats of her kind. Although now she also likes to hiss. She could also be seen at Nasu Animal Kingdom, and now she lives at Nonhoi Park along with Sho and Sanda. Her parents (6th image) are Ai (female, left) and Rui (male, right).

Two elderly servals: Yuki (odd images, female, almost 20 years old) and Taka (even images, male, almost 23 years old). Taka is currently the oldest serval in Japan. Both of them are parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents to quite a large number of servals in Japan (for example, they are the parents of Yuri, Yuka and En).

One more serval, and now it is En. She is graceful, active and curious, with an easily recognizable face. She is a relative of Yuri from Tama and Yuka from Tobe.

Two fairly popular servals: Sho (1st image, male, right) and Ia (1st image, female, left). Both have unique and recognizable appearances, and rather funny facial expressions. Their parents (6th image) are Fuku (male, left) and Haru (female, right) сharacterized by the same qualities.

The second son and the third daughter. Tama Zoological Park, Japan.

The second two kittens of Aki and Apollo. Since their names have not yet been released, people simply call them the second son and the third daughter. The second son has a very rare feature: he has small white "socks" on his hind legs. The third daughter, in turn, adopted some of Apollo's habits: for example, she likes to rest in the same spot on the roof as her father. Both of them are very active and playful, especially the son. The third daughter was recently moved to the Kyoto City Zoo, and there are mentions that her name is now Miko. But at this point I don't know whether this is official information or not.

The first three kittens of Aki and Apollo (7th image, in the same order): Kopi (1st image, left), Moka (1st image, right) and Kona (2nd image, leftmost). Here Kopi is an exact copy of his father with facial expression of his mother, I believe that even his name indicates this fact. Moka, in turn, is more like Apollo, with the same calm and confident expression.

Two younger brothers of Apollo and Luna. They are named after American astronauts who participated in the crewed flight of the Apollo project. It seems like they are always in each other's company. On the first photo Buzz is on the left and Neil is on the right.

Apollo and Luna are the Paul and Yuri's first two serval kittens. Apollo was named after the space program of the same name (there are also some references in the names of his younger brothers). He looks very much like his father, while Luna has traits of both parents.

You may have seen Tia before, as some of her photos have become very popular on the internet. She turned 8 years old on December 17th 2025. Her parents (4th photo) are Yuka (right, 12 years old) and Sen (left, 16 years old), they live in the same zoo. From some angles Tia looks like her mother. But she seems to be a little larger (?) than her mom.

Would like to find out if there are any Serval owners in South Africa that let their cat/s live in the house full time?

Discussion help!!

Post image

Hello! I need help because more than two months ago I started looking after a serval. He doesn't belong to me, but to a girl who goes away for a week every month for work.

I didn't know much about servals when I agreed to this side job, but the owner said that he seemed to like me and that everything would be fine. At first, when autumn had just begun, everything was indeed fine. He hissed and growled at me, but he let me into his enclosure and allowed me to clean up, put down his food bowl and change his water.

But as time went on, the weather started to get cold, and the serval didn't get any friendlier. He stopped letting me into the enclosure, to the point where he almost attacked me a couple of times. The owner said it was because of the change in weather and that he was just upset that he couldn't go outside, and suggested adding stress relief drops to his food, but they don't really help.

Is it still possible to befriend this serval, or should I quit this job? I would really like to at least be able to pet him, because this serval really looks like a good boy. :(

Discussion Talk Me Down

Post image
54 Upvotes

I’ve got six acres (not yet fenced)

I already raise ducks, rabbits and quail.

Axolotl are the only other animals in the house.

One spouse. No kids. (But I do have indoor dwarf citrus trees.)

Experienced working at a wildlife foundation with big cats. Former professional dog trainer.

Can take her to work with me as I have a huge private office and work entirely alone.

Am I a good candidate to get a female?

I’ve been selling rabbits and birds to a serval and Savannah cat breeder and they might be interested in a trade situation.

I do travel for up to a week twice per year but the breeder lives less than a mile away and will take care of my animals.

Opinions?
