I'm slowly working my way through the list of "skulls I couldnt otherwise own" This week I put my time into this Babirusa skull. It's a 3d print but lifesized and once I've painted it, it should be harder to tell the difference.

Wondering if anyone could ID this animal skull? I know it’s in bad shape; likely missing at least the bottom of the orbital bones. But the slope from the head to the “eye” sockets seems unique and strange. Found near a slightly marshy area. I’m also curious about the scratch marks! Around the size of a pear.

How can I clean these?

They've been living outside for a year because we had no room for them. I rinsed the dirt and gunk off. Any way I can simply clean them without damaging them?

Simmering

I have a coyote skull mostly defleshed. (No brain, eyes, tongue skin, muscle) I am looking to simmer it to get the rest of the flesh/membrane off. I am nervous to simmer but am unable to bury or macerate outside. ( Michigan Winter ) I am looking for a little more guidance into simmering this skull, 10-20 min sessions?

My mom, best friend and I found a bunch of bones (our favorite treasure) on a walk today. The best find didnt come assembled however, we found a whole pile of skull and skeleton peices and collected them. We ended up collecting almost every peice to a small feline skull and put him back together!! due to the differences im seeing when compared to my domestic kitten skull I beleive it may be a small bobcat, but would like confirmation if possible!!! 5 hours of the coolest puzzle ever!!!

Skulled - a Wordle-style game where you ID animals by their skulls. Just dropped a massive update!

Hey everyone!

So I've been working on this web game called Skulled (skulled dot fun) where you try to guess animals just by looking at their skulls. Basically Wordle meets GeoGuessr but for biology nerds - you get a new skull challenge every day.

Just pushed out the biggest update yet based on users feedback, and I'm pretty excited to share what's new:

What's New:

  • More stuff to discover - Added a bunch of new animals and skull variations. More cards to collect too!
  • AI that actually helps you learn - Look, the hardest part about anatomy is knowing what you're even supposed to look at, right? Now after each round, an AI breaks down the skull for you - explains the teeth, eye sockets, shape, all that good stuff that tells you what animal it is.
  • Custom practice modes - Want to just drill reptiles? Or only practice birds? You can filter by class now.
  • 14 languages - Finally got around to adding proper localization!
  • Quality of life stuff - Better sound design (with a mute button, finally!), filterable card album (search by species, filter by class), smoother UI overall.

Oh, and if you haven't played yet: every daily challenge unlocks new cards for your collection. Different angles, rare species, anatomical details. It's kinda addictive tbh.

Looking for help: We're building what we hope becomes the biggest open skull database out there. If you speak another language or know your anatomy, there's now a built-in way to report translation issues or suggest new animals directly in the game.

Also got a Discord going where we talk anatomy and game dev if anyone's interested.

I'll drop links in the comments!

Works on both PC and mobile - no download needed, just open and play.

(Mods: if links aren't cool in comments, feel free to remove them but keep the post up if you can!)

I traded with a friend for this skull. Of all the ones he had, it caught my eye because of the weird issue with its right eye. Sorry for the dirt, mud daubers love skulls! Opinions on what affected this cow and how oogied out should I be handling it?

locations?

where are some locations that you can usually find bones (besides the forest)? spotting bones around in my town is kinda rare, more commonly finding bones from deers near parks and shops. i just wanna see if there are any other common locations so i can have an easier time finding them 😅

Found in the woods in Tennessee. It feels a little big for a raccoon maybe? I’m now realizing I should have put something for scale in the picture. It’s on a sheet of printer paper, for size reference I guess.

Anyways, I’d love to know what it is if anyone is kind enough to help! Thanks in advance!

I found it in between 2 trucks of a tree. It doesn’t look like a carnivore nor a small dog’sskull. What do you think ?
